homosexuality is part of the evolution of our species. there are too many of us.
There are too many of them, and not enough of us.

Regardless of the genetic implications and debates on fagdom, I had an interesting thought in the elevator, If I am being condemned for eternity for the whole man on man action deal, then what difference does it make if I do whatever the hell I feel like with everything else in life? Like I could really use some cash, do I go mug sombody cause it doesnt really matter in the end anyway? Do I begin exterminating shitty DJ's and people who piss me off on the dancefloor? And what part of being a pillow-biter is evil exactly? Is it just like one-nighters and booty calls, or is making love included too? and if that's the case, then who am I doing evil to when I am doing a guy? And if it's not evil, just forbidden, then we should really make a cheat-sheet of the entire list of the things the bible forbids, I can laminate little cards for everyone so they can carry them at all times. Is red a good color ya think?

Re: miketpoto

Yeah I was thinking the "_____ for Dummies" route but I think there are too many and they are usually pretty long winded. I just want to get to heaven without all the bullshit.

Re: miketpoto

If there's no chocolate in heaven, I ain't going there anyway ;-)

But, in reaction to a few things: Bart's statements and posts do confirm my line of thought for me: homosexuality is not a choice, it is pretty irrational to say so too IMO. Unless all homosexuals are incredible masochists too, having themselves criticized, labeled as evil and in many cases simply physically abused by people that think differently on the subject. That would be just plain insane.

I know I've been ranting away too in this thread as well as the other one on intelligent design; maybe a bit too rude, which is usually not my style. The thing is that I have seen things with my own eyes too that were totally the opposite of what the Chritian chuch advocates (or what it says it advocates). But that goes for other religions as well, like Islam, or for the caste system in India and parts of Pakistan (which is not religious). All in all you might simply say that I am strongly opposed to any system that imposes an hierarchy on a human population in a structured way: it's de-humanizing in my opinion.

Like Mike said: I have no problem with different worldviews, as long as they respect my person and leave me in freedom. The moment they try to influence me or reduce my personal freedom, I do have a problem with that. Hence my problem with any system that will limit personal freedom of individuals.

Cowardly: know that I sincerely respect the fact that you believe in God, Jesus and the Holy Bible sir. I make jokes about your belief sometimes, and about other beliefs and also about myself. The latter maybe the most (and the hardest jokes). In return, please respect my choice not to believe in all that you believe in, and as a part of that please refrain from the use of phrases like 'you are wrong', 'maybe someday you will see the light', 'I will pray for you'. You said you did not insult anyone's core belief, but by saying things like those, it is exactly what you did. I am not wrong, neither are you. We just disagree, allright?

Re: miketpoto

I feel it appropriate to clarify a few things about "religion" and generalizing it all together. This is going to be a brief lesson and I am doing it because I feel that if people are going to be talking about a subject then they should have an idea about it. I know that the odds are that very few of you read, have read, or study the Bible on a regular basis. So I will pass on some info to you. Just consider this the cliff notes of what we are talking about.

There was only one church set up on the Day of Pentecost. It is a church established on Jesus. It is founded by Christ.

What has happened over the years is man has taken the Bible and misquoted it, misused it and started what is called denominations.

There is one very important thing to know when you think about Christians. There is only one way to be called a Christian. It is stated in Acts 2:38, and 47 and many other verses but these two I will use for ease of explanation. Here are the verses for those who do not know it.

38 "Then Peter said, repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" 47 "... and the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved"

Notice that the scripture does not say churches because there is only one church sanctified by God. All other denominations are not sanctified and therefore are not Christians. If a person has not been added to the church as outlined in the scripture then they are not a Christian. Acts 11:26 says "... and it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christian's first in Antioch"

Now I will give you a brief rundown of a few denominations that are not scriptuarally correct and as best as I can the reason why.

In sticking with Acts 2:38 I will go with the Baptists first. The Baptist do not believe that you are baptized for the forgiveness of your sins. they say that simply believing in Jesus gets you into Heaven. That is proven to be a false doctrine in just Acts 2:38 in itself although there are many other scriptures that refute that doctrine, and there are many other things they believe that prove it false.

The Jews do not believe that Jesus was the Son of God and that is why they killed him. John 8:24 says "... for if ye believe not that I am he ye shall die in your sins"

The Pentecostal believe that you have to pray for the Holy Spirit and if God hears you then he will give you the Holy Spirit. That is why you see people making an uproar and jumping around and making a big scene. As stated in Acts 2:38 we see that you recieve the Holy Spirit when you are baptized. That scripture proves Pentecostal denominations to be a false doctrine.

Methodist allow women to teach in services. 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 says (34)"let your women keep silence in the churches for it is not permitted unto them to speak but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. (35) and if they will learn anything let them ask their husbands at home for it is a shame for women to speak in the church"

Some of you may or may not konw that using musical instruments in services in not authorized by scripture. Many people say it is a matter of choice because it scripture does not expressly forbid it. I will explain it to you like this. We are given an outline of what to do in worship services. We are told to have the communion in 1 Corinthians 11:26. We are told to pray, I do not off hand remember the scripture for that one but I think it is a given in services. We are told in Ephesians 5:19 "Speaking to yourselves in songs and hymns singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord" And it need not be mentioned that in services we are to have a lesson from the Bible. As a point I mention Revelation 22:18-19 we are told not to add anything to the book or take anything away from the book and if so our names are taken from the book of life. So having said all that I will say that if you are given a list of things to do at work and told to stick to it and you do not do everything that is on that list or if you take it upon yourself to do something that is not on the list, you are not following the instructions given to you. That is why the Church of Christ does not use musical instruments and why it is not allowed in TRUE, FAITHFUL worship of the Lord.

The church that was established by Christ has not changed since its conception. I can tell you now that all the other denominations have given the Church of Christ a bad reputation. It is not a good idea to stereotype all Christians as there are only a handful that actually hold true to ALL OF GODS STATUTES. If a person calls themselves a Christian but drinks alcohol ,does drugs, smokes cigarettes, uses foul language does anything that is outside the grace of God of then they are not living as they should.

So to say that all Christian are the same is just like saying all black people are on welfare and wont get a job, or all English men have bad teeth. It is just not correct, and a steroetypical solution to not agreeing with the gospel.

This is a very quick and brief explanation of some of the things that most people do not know and why they associate and stereotype all religion and christians.

I am open to explain anything more in-depth if it is not understood.

Re: miketpoto

Does this also mean that you do not approve of the use of intruments as is common in for example, Africa? Over there a service is usually a big celebration with drums 'n stuff, pretty cool music too if I may say so...

#501084Post 145 of 349

Re: miketpoto

Just for the record I would like to make it clear I have nothing against CDJ at all as a person .It's just our views and beliefs contradict eachovers and this tends to lead into derogotary posts at each other . I do respect the level of comitment and knowledge he has on his faith . Although I disagree with almost everything he posts if I didn't enjoy reading them I wouldn't respond to them .. I've said my piece on this subject ..

:wanna fi: but i'm in training for the next time our paths cross

Re: miketpoto

I didnt realize you were a fundamentalist cowardly, Nothing personal, but that pretty much takes the cake on not being able to have a give and take discussion about anything.... Not saying you have nothing to offer, but rather nothing to recieve as it's all been written down already.

I feel sorry for your wife if you believe and expect her to not speak in church and ask you later. I hope that isnt the case, as I believe she is the one wearing the pants in the family and that would be an ironic twist of events... wow.

Re: miketpoto

as i say...

"man is very terrible with translating God's words. 99.9 percent of the words in the bible are abused, morphed, changed, alter'd from the source. There are a bunch of different versions of the bible, which only proves my point.

I highly "hate" when a person of power uses his own agenda and puts God behind him, when he really states in front of him"

Too bad. Would make a nice shocker.

I still haven't received answer to my question though. If the answer is positive on that one, it would mean all Africans that make music in their service with drums, would be bad bad Christians.

A little weird, since they are among the most avid believers on the planet.
