Re: wilma, wilma, wilma (hurricane)

A wierd thing about us english and the weather . A high percentage of our greeting's talk is about slagging our weather off . but if anyone not from our country critises it we get a bit pissed off and defensive about it . And the realy weird thing is we have one of the most boring non-extreme climates u could have .

Re: wilma, wilma, wilma (hurricane)

That's Just Means We Will Have One Hell Of A Hurricane Party Sat Night With Three And Q6. Projected Path Is Just South Of Naples As Of Now So That Means That It Will Most Likely Turn A Little North And Come Up Through The Mouth Of Tampa Bay, And It's Now A Cat 5! Why Do All Of These Damn Storms Have To Hit On The Weekend? It Never Fails. I Think 3 Out Of The 4 Last Year Were On The Weekend Also. Hope Everyone Here In Florida Is In A Safe Place. And Has Plenty Of Crown Royal And Ladies To Keep them Company.

Re: wilma, wilma, wilma (hurricane)

I?ve always been really impressed by these hurricanes that constantly hit the US coast, but in a detached way, simply because I felt safe, being so far away.

So last week, this motherfucker called Vince decides to turn into the black sheep of the Class of ?05, and comes our way, East instead of West. It formed halfway between the Azores and the Islands of Madeira (our local Ibiza), and came our way...fortunately, it lost most of it?s strength before it hit mainland, and it also drifted north...

Still, buckets of rain and strong winds hit us hard.

I?m telling you, the Weather conditions in our planet can?t be trusted anymore...so, even if I was in the UK, I wouldn?t feel so cocky now...

Re: wilma, wilma, wilma (hurricane)

Taken from here : http://www.wunderground.com/blog/JeffMasters/show.html

" There has never been a hurricane like Wilma before. With an unbelievable round of intensification that saw the pressure drop 85 mb in just 12 hours, Wilma smashed the all-time record for lowest pressure in an Atlantic hurricane this morning. The 4 am hurricane hunter report put the pressure at 884 mb from a dropsonde, and the meteorologist reported an even lower 881 mb pressure extrapolated from 10,000 feet flight altitude. This easily bests the previous record of 888 mb set in Hurricane Gilbert of 1988. The eye of Wilma during this round of intense deepening oscillated between 2 and 4 nautical miles, and the area of hurricane force winds only covered an area up to 15 miles from the center. This is an incredibly compact, amazingly intense hurricane, the likes of which has never been seen. The Hurricane Season of 2005 keeps topping itself with new firsts, and now boasts three of the five most intense hurricanes of all time--Katrina, Rita, and Wilma.

I'll be back with a much more detailed blog later this morning, when I've had time to digest these events. I'll talk about what it was like to be the flight meteorologist on the Hurricane Gilbert flight that set the previous record for most intense Atlantic hurricane.

We're living history this year, everybody, this is a once-in-a-lifetime hurricane season.

Jeff Masters"

few things that i would like to point out ...
...WILMA MAINTAINING CATEGORY FIVE STATUS...RECORD PRESSURE CONFIRMED BY AIRCRAFT CREW...

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 175 MPH...280 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. WILMA IS A POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC CATEGORY FIVE HURRICANE ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON SCALE. FLUCTUATIONS IN INTENSITY ARE COMMON IN HURRICANES THIS INTENSE AND ARE LIKELY DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS
Re: wilma, wilma, wilma (hurricane)

i still think that someone has control over it all. with the right electro magnetic frequencies you could probably get a hurricane to hit canada off of lake michigan.
