Re: wilma, wilma, wilma (hurricane)
in st petes at the moment and the weather is great. My wife is very worried but as far as I can see we will probably see a bit of wind and rain come monday or tuesday. we have been watching the weather channel and I have to say its as informative as a mute
you can post charts all day long. but NOBODY, i mean NOBODY knows where its going. why the fuck doesnt canada get hurricanes. they deserve some too.
you people would roll over and die if you had to deal with our winters...
(still, i'm gonna stick with -30 over devastating tropical storms)
Re: wilma, wilma, wilma (hurricane)
wow. i am the only one who decieded to show up for work today....i work in sarasota fl...about 1.5 hrs north of where the storm hit....

i spent 7 years in detroit, and i would still take some rain and wind over those winters in an instant. while everyone knows scraping ice off your windshield every time you want to drive for 3 months straight is friggen sweet, at least the storm itself only lasts for a day or two and then it's back to being nice.

I spent 24 years in cleveland ohio, I will take a hurricane any freakin day compared to cold azz winteres....
Re: wilma, wilma, wilma (hurricane)
my boss is stuck in Cancun right now because of the hurricane and it is her birthday. what a way to spend it huh??
Re: wilma, wilma, wilma (hurricane)
i would rather knock some ice off my car then watch it float away from the flooding..
Re: wilma, wilma, wilma (hurricane)
anyone that says they would take a hurricane any day compared to cold ass winters has apparently never been hit with a cat 5 or 4 or 3 cane and lost everything they own. cold weather is solved by wearing warm clothes.. what solves replacing everything you own?

I would still rather take a chance being here than living in shit weather 75% of the year. You have to realize that alot of these storms are being OVERHYPED by the media. Granted if you live in a Trailor or on the coast or on an island you have a good chance of losing everything but if you live in a conc block home...and somewhat away from the coast....id say ur chances of retaining everything are pretty good....
New Orleans wouldnt have been bad at all if they had had there levys redesingned to meet Cat 5 condintions....IN fact they showed New orleans right after Katrina and prior to the levy breaking and it wasnt that bad. The majority of the damage is due mostly from the levy failing.
Re: wilma, wilma, wilma (hurricane)
^ditto.........was really windy today but "another day in paridise".......worried about friends in miami/dade/laderdale tho........may take a couple days to get power back.....im sure they are ok but living w/o power sux.....we in tampa did it twice last year........although its so cold now 60's......lol......i would not make it in the north!

true.........my home is in naples and it got really fucked up....part of our roof is missing, our screen/cage over the pool is in the canal....the carport, as well as the front porch on my grandmas house is gone...we dont know where it went. there is so much debris everywhere, it looks like a war took place........oh, and no one has any trees left on my street.
Re: wilma, wilma, wilma (hurricane)

Saw a documentary on it though that said it would have taken quite a few years (20 I belive) for them to upgrade them. The cost was a few billion but much cheaper than the damage.

Re: wilma, wilma, wilma (hurricane)
did anyone see the daily show sketch where they were ripping on all the reporters who were filming outside during the storm?
Re: wilma, wilma, wilma (hurricane)
nope. was it good?
Re: wilma, wilma, wilma (hurricane)
i thought it was funny. the part where they showed Al Roker was pretty ridiculous.
basically the message from the sketch was that it's really pointless for the weather guys to be outside during the storms and they are taking it too far.
Re: wilma, wilma, wilma (hurricane)
ha.
