make it so a list of usernames is created. along the lines of the ""you cannot send another PM / you cannot post so soon"" . limit each name to one d/l per file. or raise the minimum post limit.

I seen that earlier. I am amazed at the number of people that have been d/l the sets lately. I think people are still haveing problems dling the sets thought. But that number is way to high compared to before the move.

So what's the ratio of downloads (assuming each user makes one download for each set) VS number of active posters in this forum? How is it possible that all these people have lodged enough post count to access the downloads and we still see the same regular posters in the forum?

well one person in a group of friends hits the minimum post count and emails a bunch of buddies the password..... boom all of them login using that shit and start downloading

That is alot of downloads in one day. I tried all day yesterday and it was busy. I managed to get them this morning before work so at least ive got em now. Will listen tonight!:D

Ok, this might sound like it's too much trouble: Some bittorrent sites I use have strict ratios. Every time I download a BT file, the site checks against my IP and somehow, the BT file is only usable from my IP.
Is this method of locking downloads to a user's IP possible to implement?

it's possible, but many of us browse ms from multiple locations: home, work, and school. this would restrict us to downloading at only one location... if we added the ability to add multiple masks, people could just keep adding friends

Well, something is [B]definitely[/B] wrong! Since this change I have not been able to dl shit. Not here at work or at home.
I've also noticed that here at work working with IE, it slows down my whole system. Nothing ever pops up or gives me notice of too many users, NOTHING. :what

more often than none, this is due to a config screw up on the users end... check for popup blockers by
[LIST] []XP SP2 []Google / Yahoo / any other toolbar [*]Software firewall (if any)[/LIST]Its also quite possible that your office has banned the downloading of files on your router hence nothing loads when you click on download

cant really compare to yousendit since each site has its own coding...... most popup blockers read html / javascript code of pages and block stuff accordingly, if yousendit was coded in a way the blockers dont read anything suspicious, it wont get blocked

hernan downloads are working fine...and there not gettin leeched at all compared to digweeds... have had no luck with diggers though...
i think that you should up the posting limit in order to prevent these newbee leechers from gettin the minimum posts then passing them to there friends....or maybe better yet stettin up a waiting period from regerstering till they are able to dl.

How does pop-up blockers affect downloads? The current download system doesn't require pop-ups like before right? Anyway I have pop-up blockers running on FF but I get the usual "Too many users" message ... I just have to wait till everyone's asleep or something, which is easier considering I'm in Singapore :lol:

tried downloading from home this weekend with no luck. just tried again today at work and the page just kept trying to load for quite some time. still no luck. can't download, can't change my avatar. i've had some problems for a couple weeks now. :what

I had no problem d/l the kiss 100 sets yesterday. Just keep trying I guess. Have you tried clicking on the d/l button then open in new window. It should work then.

just tried the open in a new window and it IE crashed my computer. not cool when you are at work and you lose what you were working on.

Nope I tried at work and could dl fine but at home nothing, so I wait and hope to find the sets in other places, it is difficult but possible.
Anyone on Slsk now? That always works for me. All other sites I can dl from fine.
E I know you asked for screen shots of my settings but would you elabotate for me, I have time today to do soething like that for you. BTW, IE and FF do not work. White screen of blamkness is what I get.

I tested the downloads in both IE and FF more than once at home and at work. Besides that the IE has an error not displaying the "too many people are downlading"-page but loading endlessly instead, I was able to download the sets any time (not using any admin tools but a normal user test account download) so it has to do with our scripts AND personal settings I guess. Looking on the number of times, the sets have been grabbed (not the stats you see on the Download page), the downloads seems to work for a lot of people. :| Ubiqe who implemented the code will return tomorrow and she will look into it and is hopefully able to tweak the scripts.

she needs to move the counter increment to after the timeframe check... I bet the stats would go back down to ~400ish. K, I still don't believe those stats... it sounds like quite a few people are trying to access these sets ~20 each. just 5 people can bump the count up by over 100. I guess we can only wait until she moves the incremental counter down a few lines and see what next week's stats look like

i did have some downloading problems, but, when there are not too many users online, it works alright still it's impressive how many users download these sets, before the passwords were removed, i dont remember too many digweed downloads to reach 1000 in a week
