Re: WELCOME BACK FELLOW MS'ers

We do our best but also our days have only 24 hours.

Downloads will be back and the stream was not affected in any way by this Upgrade. You can visit www.mercurysessions.com and log in to the stream from there and we will implement the stream links on top of the page again here but as I said...Rome wasn't build in one day and it?s the same for this website so give us more time

Re: WELCOME BACK FELLOW MS'ers

I will setup an alternate light colored theme for those wanting one. Luckily I dont need to add mods to this site so it shouldn't be as hard to setup multiple themes

Re: WELCOME BACK FELLOW MS'ers

Well, I was shocked when I logged back in, but I must say I?m getting used to the black and I think in the long run it does make everything easier on the eyes...maybe you don?t notice it much in the begginning, but I?ve been looking at all this stuff for at least 40 minutes now and everything?s coming together for me.

It?s great that people can have a choice if they don?t like this background, though.

I?ll say this, however...I think that mercuryserver, in my mind, was already somewhat associated with some colors : dark blue, orange and white. You know, just like the blue t-shirts you guys have.

It?s all psychological, I guess, but maybe some people are rejecting the black because it doesn?t "fit in" with the image people have of MS? (Am I making any sense at all?)

Either way, congrats and a million thanks to everyone who?s putting in the time to do this...and I guess it took some balls to, so kudos for that

Re: WELCOME BACK FELLOW MS'ers

it'll grow on you ... we just tested a few templates on the back end and believe me.... nearly all the team members I've spoken with wanted to come back to the black....

for me, its like this template is nothing Ive seen before and so its a tad twisty to get used to but then when I'm away from the board, the color combo keeps calling me back

I for one just love it

 1. Don`t get angry!

 2. I have an idea ...

Could you change the border color of the board to a gray ? I think it would be easier to read if there was a border betwen the posts. and 2 on the sides ...

Re: WELCOME BACK FELLOW MS'ers

there's a line I missed under: Today, 12:57 PM

All this could be edited from css i think. I think the names are too big compared to the rest of the board phpBB knew how to resize large pictures ( just edited the size when loaded - no modification to the .jpg) Is there a plugin for Vbulletin to do this? Would be useful to avoi this kind of situations ^^ as seen above.

Bye
Still don't know why its such a big deal.... they are only colors.

My other theme was bright blue with bright red text which is going to get implemented asap
OMG - "bright blue with bright red text" you won't be able to read anything on the board, but at least its original.

You have defined borders that do not exist in vb.
We have it under control. I'm well aware of what is going on and have spent hours making this way. Thanks anyway though.

Re: WELCOME BACK FELLOW MS'ers
OMG - "bright blue with bright red text" you won't be able to read anything on the board, but at least its original.

now when i get through the posts my eyes are bleeding and im still confused if I read the last post correctly. then BAM the big white text box that burns a hole through the back of your head after adjusting to charlie brown's great pumpkin motif.

its great that you love the darker colors. keep them as the border but get them out of the text boxes. White isn't the best color either but it's better than black. I would suggest a light grey for the text areas. borders and outlines in white give more dimension to a flat page. the previous scheme was a great color scheme the colors selected complemented each other in a cool and more relaxed way. Now its looking more like gothserver.

I understand from previous posts and threads that you are concerned with the numbers of actually members vs. the number of members who post regularly. but come on there is no need to revamp things or try to emulate other boards. keep up with the streamlining and look into adding more areas or activities that will keep people wanting to come back.

another example of bad ideas put into action. by shrinking the avitar size you limited people freedom of expression. so you lost a key member or your admin staff. work with what you have and modify for improvement not because you feel like it.
What are you doing starting a protest? I wasn't trying to emulate anything. This is the only board I visit so I don't know much about many others. I was trying to give you guys something slick, different and easy on the eyes. Some of you like it... some of you are very vocal about hating it. Whatever... get used to it. For a "progressive community" you guys aren't very accepting of change....

and...

settle down. we get it. you don't like it. unfortunately you are 1 out of 5000.

Re: WELCOME BACK FELLOW MS'ers

Not a complaint, just an observation:

IMO, the dak background/white text is fine for short posts, but after reading a very long post earlier this morning, when I looked away from the screen, my eyes had a negative image of the text/backgrough burned into them - I had white with black lines layered over everything I looked at :/

i Love It Way Good Ups To Palmer. He Fucking Worked His Ass Off To Get This To You Guys. Give It Some Time, And All Should Be Better. It Is A Huge Change But A Good One!

Ps. White Text On A Dark Background Is The Best For Your Eyes. It Is Proven. So Do Not Be Stupid.

#477700Post 109 of 251

Re: WELCOME BACK FELLOW MS'ers

Then how come light text on black bg always needs to be prited fatted than dark text on light bg? Seriously, This template looks slick as hell, but I still disagree with that reasoning man...

Anyway...live with it...or not. An alternate skin would be cool, but this is the style now, period.

General Strategies for Choosing Color and Other Text Options

Here are some guidelines for choosing screen colors:

 1. Can you easily see black print when the page is white? YES NO
 2. Is it comfortable to read on a white screen or white page? YES NO

Change Screen Color If you answer No to either question, you need to change the color of the screen and/or print. First, try different colored backgrounds. Look at the box and ask yourself the following questions each time you change the color of the background until you find the color that is the best. Try all the different colors with black print. Do not forget to also try black background with white letters.

* Is this color comfortable to look at? How do my head and eyes feel?
* Is the print easy to see? Does it stand out from the background?
* Is the print clear and stable?

Change Text Color Next pick the text color. Some people see better and more comfortably with text that is low contrast or a similar color family to the background, others prefer high contrast resulting from a totally different color text, others prefer white text, and some prefer black text. Try colors, black and white print until you find the combination that:

* Is comfortable to look at
* The print is clear, sharp, and stable
* Text is easy to see because it stands out from the background.

Change Text Size Some people find it easier to see when the text is larger. Change the size of the font until the text is easy to see.

Change Font Style Most people find that reading simple, unstylized block text is easier than cursive or handwriting-style text. Do you know what text style is best for you?

Other Helpful Hints

* Bold Print. See if making the print bold makes it easier to see.

* Extra Spacing. Do you feel like the lines of print are crowded together? Increase the size of the spacing between lines of print and even add extra space after each paragraph.

* Paragraph Alignment. Standard left alignment is easiest to read. Avoid using justified paragraphs or forced justified alignment (when both left and right edges are aligned) because it changes the spacing between the words, which may make it harder to read.

* Glare Guard Screen. Some people find that this helps reduce the glare from the computer screen and provides additional comfort.

* Room Lighting. Do you like a lot of light, dim lighting, indirect lighting, incandescent lighting? You may want to change the room lighting to make it more comfortable for you when using the computer. You may want more lighting, less lighting, or a different type of lighting to make it comfortable and the screen easier to see. If you cannot change the lighting but are bothered by bright lighting or fluorescent lighting, you may find that wearing a visor or brimmed hat helps.

* Adjust the Brightness Level of the Screen. Did you need the screen to be brighter or dimmer?

* Printing Material from the Computer. Use paper color that is the same color as your favorite screen color. Some people find that it is easier to read the material when printed rather than on the screen. The color of the paper may make reading the material more accessible.

* Copying. Place material to be copied on a bookstand.
