NYC started searching the bags of selected individuals on or headed to some form of mass transit. NJ and others are starting on Monday.

:D have a nice day :D

living so close to NYC I should be picking this t-shirt up. It can work for many club bouncing monkeys as well.

wow. i can see this stirring up some serious problems in the city of apples. i do feel sorry for minorities (indian, or middle eastern, etc) cos no matter how much the police say we will not racially profile people, IT IS going to happen.

Re: do not consent to being searched

Complete Bullshit.

You would think it would violate our personal rights, but nooo, fukn Patriot Act.

Bottom line: If we want Freedom, then what's the point in giving up our personal rights? We're supposed to show the terrorist our way of life will not be affected...but look what's going on. We're sending a message that their efforts are making an impact.

^^ We may currently be living in a police state because some people had their bags searched in one US city? Give me a break.
now what would happen if you are carrying a joint??
you'd be arrested like you should be since as far as I know, that would be illegal. and racial profiling? come on please... how is it racial profiling when ALL of the bombers pretty much look of the same nationality? unless they start recruiting blone hair blue eyed westerners, it IS going to have to be the middle eastern looking people that get checked for the most part. deal with it. I don't really agree with the searching, but I also don't agree with these pieces of shiite running around with ruck sacks full of explosives.. which brings me to another point of this poor man that was shot the other day,and his family says the police must pay...Well, i feel for their loss, i really do.. but.

IF YOU DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG, DON'T RUN FROM THE POLICE!

especially when the city you are in just got hit by terrorist attacks twice in a fort night

Eggzactly what I said. Maybe they should issue some kind of statement that other (minor) crimes will not be under investigation if prime suspicion was terrorism. In that case you'll know that someone really has been a bad boi anyway when he/she starts running....

Re: do not consent to being searched

dont be a prick, if you refuse it, then tough shit, they are doing their best to stop another bombing. if you are that hell bent on not being searched, stay the fuck home. we dont need massive deaths because people dont like someone looking at their shit. if you dont have anything to hide then why throw a fuss.

i saw a lady get thrown off a train at hicksville's LIRR stop b/c of this, she was a cvnt about it too.

let it happen, i like being alive and will deal with what i have to in order to stay that way.

Its one thing to refuse a search if you are walking down the street but to use some mass form of transport it could be almost expected. Sad it to what it did, but aside from george carlin. I didn't hear to many people bitching about airport security. it happens this countrys huge and it will always be threatend by either a Ted Kazinskey (sp?), Tim McVey, or some radical islomic group. Its there and we have to deal with it. They do the same shit it Europe.

Re: do not consent to being searched

i seriously wish that all the people who are making a stink are the ones who die next. i can deal with a cop looking in my briefcase, as they are only going to find a couple of tax returns, ledgers and trusts. if im planning on bringin some poot around, then throw it in the shoe.

dont whine that they are attempting to keep you alive. whine about the fact that we let whoever the fuck wanted to come here live here.

there are at least 4 known cells in the areas surrounding nyc and they cant do shit b/c until the guys actually get explosives and blow themselves up they havent committed a crime. that is like not getting a vaccination until you get malaria.

i seriously seriously hope that nothing happens, but i know it will, and when it does, i hope it happens to the people who fought so hard for the stupid shit that let a guy from pakistan come here illegally, live here illegally, planed an attack, and then kill a few thousand people like 9/11. and worse off, when you see a group of traditional garbed people of arabic or persian descent cheering on 53st and 4th ave on the afternoon of 9/11, you will still see some dirtbag civil rights activist fighting to protect them. or do i need to remind people of what happened in brooklyn a few weeks back where a flag burning group of "muslims" punched a woman in her face b/c she went at them about the flag bruning. they said it was thier right b/c women should be covered and not associate with men. THEN, a group of ""white and black"" people beat the ever livign shit out of the group a few hours later. now the group has police protection for their "demonstrations"

Re: do not consent to being searched

thing is if you look at the photo taken of the UK bombers, they had huge backpacks on. These devices are not exactly small, these searches should be limited to large bags and should be done briefly-- if they don't see a large ticking bomb, let the person go. There is no need to open every tampon in a woman's purse to confirm there is no threat.

#453143Post 22 of 46

Re: do not consent to being searched

seaching large bags is how it all starts... until you get what we had with airplane searches, a guy with a shoe bomb. now everyone has to take their shoes off. if someone wants to get something somewhere bad enough it will happen. to me the point is that we don't give up any of our rights toward privacy. the patriot act has result in many many arrests, but according to a stat i wish i could find again only two arrests had anything to do with anything that we would consider terrorism. the other hundreds of arrests were people at the wrong place at the wrong time or people that were monitored under new laws that the patriot act enabled. do the politicians care... no! they try to make us feel safer, but it is these actions that make the radicals among us all the more segregated from society and fuel the fire.

#453145Post 23 of 46

Another way the police can abuse there over. That is bullshit.

#453221Post 24 of 46

Re: do not consent to being searched

daveman, i got nothing against you, but what do you suggest the police do? technically we cant search only people who appear to be middleeastern b/c a few thugs in chicago were getting pulled over by cops who assumed an 18 yr old kid who drove a 50k car was a dealer (they usually were).

i hate being pulled into taking the conservative views i have on certain things, but be realistic, they arent really doing this for fun. just look at london, 2 weeks, 7 bombs, and still going to be hit again. use your common sense, god/allah/yahweh gave it to us for a reason.

i have said it before, but i never want to have to watch a plane fly into the biggest thing in the city and wonder if my father is alive. then 20 minuites later have to book ass uptown to avoid the falling debris of two builds that were both 110+ stories and 1 square acre per floor. take a look officer. now i can i take the subway?

Re: do not consent to being searched

OOh man had a feeling this topic would cause some chaos after reading it.I say and im sure most of u would agree. If you got nothing to hide search all you want.Yeah it infringes on our rights as Americans;how many more subway sytems are the terrorists gonna blow up before people start saying damn we shoulda check peoples bags earlier.

Bingo. There's no need to racially profile. You can profile based on what is being carried.

Re: do not consent to being searched

I would like to be the first to say that this is the single most worst thing ever for NYC, it is going to put a sour taste in tourism's mouth.

Taking the path back from 14th and 6th ave to get back home in JC I was searched today, not only did I miss my fucking train the machine stole my god damn dollar.

I gave a few choice words to the MTA/Transit police on this one.

But I did get some recs from Satellite so it all evens out...

(P.S. I am a white male, so I don't think it was profiling... Or was it?)

A shameless copy fo something i just posted in the politics forum. . . . . .

Every time i go into a supermarket, I get searched. Everytime i go into the bank, I get searched. Everytime i go to the train station, i get searched. Everytime I go to the Mall i get searched. Everytime i enter a government building, I get searched. Everytime i go into a cafe i get searched. . . etc.

Does it erode my civil liberties - i guess it does, but more so, it ensures that i can go on demonstrations for my civil liberties by ensuring that i don't get blown up going about my day to day life.

In a world where the 'enemy' looks like you and me we need to take certain actions to ensure we can all live free lives. Bag searches unfortunaly are a necessary evil to ensure we all carry on living.

although I do condone searching when appropriate, I can't imagine a life of being searched in every building I enter. would sort of make me feel like one huge prision.

Re: do not consent to being searched

again, the cops arent searching you just to be pricks, they are doing this for safety, and to speak frankly, and please dont insinuate anything out of what i say, i am stating the bad facts that are indeed facts.

 1. they search all kinds of people just to avoid problems with racial profililng. none of these bombers have been a prototypical white american or white european. wyou have to realize that they are going to different extents depending on who they search. obviously someone who appears to be from the middle eastern region or southwest asia is going to be looked at with a more diligent eye. its just something you have to deal with, and if you are clean you shouldnt worry, they cant arrest you for being from a certain region.

 2. the people who are making a huge fuss about this are obviously disallusioned to what is actually happening in the world today. itas sad that they are willing to put my, your, and everyone else's safety before their personal will. (you may think they are right, but IMHO, fuck off, i want you to deal with it, dont put my life at risk b/c you are bothered. if you do then i will maintain my right to carry my gun loaded and ill start playing with it while its aimed at you. it my right. i wont say that i'll fire it, but you can deal with the risk.) again this is just a personal opinion that some will differ from. to each thier own.

 3. they arent going to stop doing this, so learn to deal. im not a fan or the morning, but i have to wake up early every day.

Re: do not consent to being searched

the rights of the american people are dwindling away as we speak. what the country was founded on has now lost its way. They should bring back martial law before doing this. The USA should start a mass export of all somalians, arabs and any other nationality that is envolved with Osama and the gang. The police have become to powerful in the USA now and it seems people will just hand over there rights like retarded sheep instead of fixing the real problem the terrorists.

Re: do not consent to being searched

well, a lot of us would hesitate to deport anyone from northern africa, middle east or the indian penninsula(inlcuding pakistan). i know it would be a big step, but its just plain wrong to kick the guy out who is a active and positive member of society b/c someone from his country likes bombing innocent ppl. i dont know why they just dont go after politicians since they are the ones to blame. wouldnt mind it if the bushes and the clintons were put on ice.

Re: do not consent to being searched

you people read too much science fiction.

i thikn it has more to do with the fact that barely any of you have actually had to deal with shit like knowing that you are living in a prime target area. you live in safe areas and are used to not having to deal with this.
