Words fail me to this day to describe the monstrous set John dropped at Club Fur tonight.

Forget Twilo, Kiss 100, GU LA, Live in Beirut - this is HANDS DOWN the best set I have ever heard in my life - across all sets and DJ's.

No electro - tech house nonsense. 100% pure, A GRADE Twilo based Progressive house magnified by 500%. I've also NEVER seen Digweed fuck around with the dex so much. Scratching and spinning incredibly.... the effects he played with were UNREAL.....

The worst part of the evening, my wife has our camera with her in California so I was unable to take any pictures, however Algy was there with me and his friend Magnus did manage to take a few decent pictures of us on his 1.3 MP camera phone.

I also met Devon and RickyFuller..... AMAZING peeps the two of these lads.... defo need to hang out with 'em..... Guys, thanks for the company all night and Devon thanks for all the Red Bulls you bought for me 8)

All in all, he still reigns KING!!!!

Re: John Digweed - June 19, 2005

Nice one -e-

I'd been mulling over whether or not to see Diggers at Pacha in September, and had fears about what he'd be spinnin.

#438241Post 7 of 61

naa mull no further simon, seriously, not one, not two, not three but EVERY fucking track he dropped had chug, whoosh, swoosh, incessantly long breakdowns followed by more chugs

@ Jibby, I couldn't tell for sure, but I will admit I didn't see him picking up or putting down any vinyl. Esp the last hour, that shit was ALLLLL CD-R's

#438242Post 8 of 61

Not to sound cliche', but the guy is just an artist. With the CDs, effects, looping, etc., Diggers just paints what he wants while the rest of us are building sets with someone else's vision. Diggers did not disappoint. Great night.

Glad to hear everyone had fun last night. If his set was anything like what he played in detroit on firday night/sat morning then you witnessed one of the best diggers set ever.

Re: John Digweed - June 19, 2005

just woke up from an unbelievable night!

i was a little worried about how this night would turn out because i am not a huge fan of the club but i should of known better because mr. digweed was in full control.

got there for cusik laying down some sick beats, soft breaks at first and then just getting into the chugging and grooving bass lines one after another.

then diggers came on around 1am and completley destroyed the place. only recognized 2 tracks the whole night (dont know the names though). there was a point in the night where i looked over at encryption and was like holy sh*t i can't believe what he was throwing at us. i think he ender aroun 4:45 if im not mistaken.

i also got to meet a lot of the crew from the board including mr. encyrption, who i had a blast with. these guys just get it.

another great night thanks to diggers!!!

Re: John Digweed - June 19, 2005

Forget Twilo? Mr. Encryption, have you forgotten what a Twilo night sounded like? Just spoke to raver_mania and he said you guys had a blast! Awesome to hear Digweed was on top form. Can't wait until he hits NYC again.

Now back to that "forget Twilo comment" - I would assert a 3.5 hour set isn't anything close to Digweed @ Twilo by himself for 8-10 hours. You were there in February of 2001 for the GU release party, no? You think last night's set was better than that?!?

Re: John Digweed - June 19, 2005

Sounds like the set he threw down at the Mayan for BPM. that set was fucking unbeleivable too!!!, all cdr's but no scratching of any kind.

and just like encryption said, pure chugging prog! Deep bass lines that made all your hairs on your body move.

Re: John Digweed - June 19, 2005

i want to say that to me the set at the Mayan last tuesday was BORING. i didn't think it was good at all.....

#438378Post 25 of 61

Janky

trust me dude, this set was unlike ANY other set I've ever heard from Digweed, yes the sound system sucked BALLS but that's the only complaint I had of the night. The bass lines, mashups, loops, scratches, effects, fucking name that cat and it jumped out of digweed's bag last night.....

WICKED is such an undeserving term for it. The show officially ended at 4:00 but with people refusing to move from the dance floor and Cusick offering the support, he pushed the set, track after killer track until 5.

Am not kidding you Janky, this is unlike ANY MIX I have ever heard and I was stone cold sober for the entire night.... trust me.

Re: John Digweed - June 19, 2005

I stopped listening to his KISS 100 show a while back, but would never miss a chance to see him live. Diggers live is unfuckingbelieveable... his radio show is an electro tease. The live Digweed is the real Digweed... unchained. He puts in everything he has to give you that shock and awe. If the show ended at 5am... then I believe you -e-

Re: John Digweed - June 19, 2005

-E-, I don?t have Twilo as a frame of reference to compare today?s performance with. I do have memories from 7 years ago when I saw Digweed and Sasha at Simon in Gainesville, Florida, but still that?s a difficult comparison to make since it?s been so long ago.

First off, Sean Cusick had a great opening performance.. He really brought it dark to us. In addition, only the experience could express how Digweed?s performance was, so I won?t even attempt to rant about it. I will note that his closing was phenomenal! John simply would not stop playing as the club attempted to clear the masses out.

Club Glow/Fur Notes:

Sound System: Just amazing, it was like we had a defibrillator plugged to us. Atmosphere: Really broken up well with 2 other dance floors available. Clientele: Pretty calm crowd just there to see John orchestrate. At times morons from the Hippity Hop scene would come on the floor all drunk and try to get a spank on, but the music quickly set them on their way. Beer Selection: Sux (only served Bud, Corona and Heineken) Scotch Selection: Really Sux and way over priced. Security: No Cameras? really strict as Magnus was able to find out. LOL!

Had a great time with the [mn] crew, thanks again everyone... nice Roll Call.

-Algy
Beer Selection: Sux (only served Bud, Corona and Heineken)
Hah! Sounds like Miami. WTF is up with that? Is there some sort of exclusive agreement between clubs and beer makers?

Re: John Digweed - June 19, 2005

im not a dj so i don't know the names of the tracks but i only recognized three records all night and i listen to his show every week.

one being the track ricky already talked about (cusik's set). the second being digweed's new mix that he played on his show a couple weeks back (big vocal) and then he played moby lift me up (the same mix they dropped at crobar back in march) but didn't fully let it kick in.

how's that for a trainspotter. but i did trainspot about 10 beers, i id'ed them correctly!
