Re: Balance 026
the person who did the review seems a little lazy to make a proper and profound job, I respect the opinion of everyone but obviously is not the best article I've read. I expected something more serious from RA. anyway ........
Indeed. Actually, I only agree on the 3/5 rating. The review itself is ridiculous.

completely agree. what a shit review but he isnt exactly wrong. It was written as if he made up his mind before pressing play. I'd like to say I'd expect more from RA but they've never been known for journalistic integrity.

Re: Balance 026

The more i listen to cd 2 the more i realise what a masterpiece it is. The way the sounds flow together in the mind gives an awakening that this is someone who has been subtly and quietly without ego mastering his craft and ear for that which can sonically take you through corridors and dimensions of sound that are built with emotional clarity. A true story in music form. No one apart from nick warren does this for me, which is why i'm not surprised that together they are incredible.

Re: Balance 026

^An interesting review. I must admit it takes a few listens to understand Hernan's delivery with CD's. Parallel, Renaissance, Sequential didn't engage me suddenly, but after a while when you decipher individual tracks, it starts making more sense. Probably the one guy who gets mix albums right, moreover delivering great releases on a consecutive manner. Props to this guy.

Re: Balance 026

Just out of interest, did Hernan re edit all the tracks on this mix, like he did on one of his previous mixes, or has the trend for that gone away now?

#1742327Post 93 of 98

Re: Balance 026

To this kind of mixes Hernan tends to edit most of the tracks or calls on producers another version.

Re: Balance 026

The whole remix or edit every track on the compilation concept seems to have tailed off in the last few years. Something I am quite glad of.

Re: Balance 026

I wonder what was the very first dj mix that initiated the re-editing of all or most of the tracks.

As far as I can see from my experience it was PvD's 1st Politics of Dancing back in 2001, but maybe there was something prior to that, any ideas?

It's really not necessary to make edits of tracks in advance these days as it's pretty easy to just do it on the fly with traktor now and it's become so commonplace. It's still happening, but the whole trend of labeling of tracks by djs telling you they made an edit is dying off because it's ridiculous. Whoa big fucking deal, you made an edit, look at you...everyone else does too.
