Re: Balance 026
interesting. i live in tampa and never heard of zentrip or this show from that radio station but will look for it now.
Re: Balance 026
It's an interesting mix - the first cd mostly downtempo/midtempo with the energy kicking up a notch once you get to the second cd. Way more vocals than I was expecting.
I've always dug his efforts on Renaissance, and this nicely compliments his work on that label.
Re: Balance 026
This is going to sound weird. Some cds do just sound exactly the same every time I play them . But the cds /mixes etc that sound different to me every time I play them are the ones I love forever. They seem to respond to me personally at any given time. It is like a gift from Hernan . :) These cds in particular are very much like that.
Hernan always says listen several times before you judge his work and I understand that, he can be so much more complex. But he can’t help that, it’s him and a lot of the reason we love his work :)
CD 1 The first time I played it overwhelmed me a little. It was so different to Renaissance 17 and Renaissance 17 is very important to me . So maybe I wasn't quite ready for this one. But I have now listened to both Cds many ,many times and every time I find something new and wonderful , another track stands out to me and I know I will also listen to this for many years to come as well. A lot of the tracks will become favourites but the ones that leap out every time on CD 1 are Solitude, Blue shadow, Happy to be sad , Out of the game Sponges , Lunar and of course Dizzy moments. In fact there is only one that doesn’t really appeal and that is Yews -believe, belong
CD 2 Possibly my favourite at the moment. Although that could change ! I love every track . Changes , Underwater , Parallax, Disclosure , Imaginarium and Lotus are the most wonderful for me right now.
I seem to remember saying at some stage that I thought Renaissance 17 was more from Hernan’s feminine side. This one has a much more masculine , and dare I say sexy , power and emotion !! :D
As always, beautifully mixed and programmed ! Great, great, progressive music in every sense of the word. ! :Respect::Respect::Respect:
Re: Balance 026
^ thanks for the review.. sounds delicious..
Re: Balance 026
yah can't wait to bounce this…but i don't think anything will come near masters island 1
Re: Balance 026
I'm not a fan of Hernan usually, so was glad to find this on Spotify. I'll buy it if I like it, but more often than not his style is to clean for me.
Re: Balance 026

Okay sold!
Not that I need any convincing when it comes to Hernan..... lol Can't believe I've been sleeping on this
Re: Balance 026
I've been listening Hernan for a few years by now  .. Pretty sure more years than anyone else here except for unkle..
all comps were amazing over the years but somehow this one is special.. Honestly i cant say which tracks are favs just because hernan mixes for me are just a loooong beautiful story..
Both cds mixed in a perfect amazing flow.. So easy to listen
not afraid to say this comp will be remembered for a while.
everytime i think there is some dj who can take hernan's place, he reminds me how to do it like no one else... Respect.
Re: Balance 026
Btw lotus!! For the love of me i can listen those sounds for hours.. Incredible.
Re: Balance 026
Ditto !! :D
everytime i think there is some dj who can take hernan's place, he reminds me how to do it like no one else... Respect.
I always know no one can take his place :) He just very forcibly reminds me once a year :)

True story.
Re: Balance 026
^ hahah now I'm even more pumped to listen after reading these honest reviews...
Re: Balance 026
got through half of disc 1 before i turned it off...a bit epic for a Monday morning. Gonna try disc 2 instead after lunch
Re: Balance 026
loving cd1 so far. i typically like to sit through the first disk for like a week before attempting the second disk.
i must say this is growing on me quite a bit and not because at first listen i thought it wasnt any good, but you miss so much even when trying to listen critically that you start to notice the more you listen to it and it keeps getting better. for those that say it sounds too clean, are listening too hard. it is considerably deep once you let the music take over.
the transition from sponges to dinga...........oof!
i might start disk 2 this weekend.
in short, my favorite balance since henry's.
Re: Balance 026
^^^ This !!

in short, my favorite balance since henry's.
ah, I didnt like that one either. I never did go back to this yet having been put off by the bit i heard while trying to work the other day. I'll give it another go at the weekend when I can give it my full attention
Re: Balance 026
^^ Go for a nice long walk :)
Loved Henry's balance . Pretty well hated the reality thing and it wasn't because there wasn't great music there, It was just totally spoilt by crap vocals and "effects"
Re: Balance 026
Disc one is epic. Disc two builds well up to track 7 then goes off the boil a bit .. Seems to plod along especially track 11. Loses its way a bit, and I reckon its missing a few rude basslines to spice the flow up a bit.... Its all a bit ploddy and by the numbers. It does pick up a bit right at the end, so falls just short of being a truly epic mix IMO.
Re: Balance 026
The record shop had this printed, took it down today and gave to me. !! :D looks much bigger in my lounge room
Re: Balance 026
I got this for my birthday this week (along with Balance 25).
I have listened to each disc twice.
CD1 is good. Some memorable stuff on there, lots of nice sounds. Good flow to it. I will be returning to it a lot I think.
CD2 is the opposite I feel. Felt a bit 'plod plod plod' at times, couldnt really tell the difference between these tracks, and the tracks on all his other recent CD releases. I think perhaps that I'm just not really that blown away by producers such as Guy Mantzur, Soundexile, Guy J etc which Hernan seems to overload on his CD releases (Think 25% of the whole album is Soundexile stuff)
I think it's better than his previous Renaissance but nowhere near as good as Masters Volume 2
Re: Balance 026
I couldn't get through CD 1 seemed a bit cheesy I'll give it another try with other surroundings and atmosphere
Re: Balance 026

i don´t know the meaning of " cheesy "
but from what i understand, i think it is impossible that word in some hernán thread or anything about hernán Musica
with full respect i say that
need to get Lost on this : ))))

Re: Balance 026
Cheesy=Epic At some point in CD1 this vocal track comes in and I just thought wow a bit epic for my taste I'll listen to this another time.
To be honest I normally don't like Hernan's sets or releases, there are few exceptions, for example his burning man set from last year which I really liked. I mean I can tell he's a proper dj and would always go see him live but dunno his stuff rarely speaks to me.Same with Guy J

o apologies,
I thought it meant something shit or commercial
epic is good

Re: Balance 026
CD 2 is taking a liking more than 1. But I haven't thoroughly listened to it as I've been having 025 on repeat recently.

Cheesy means commercial to me. Maybe referring to the one track I don't like ??
Re: Balance 026
The track I meant was On my way to hell.
Giving a second listen now, enjoying it more, maybe it's just a grower

It does mean something shit or commercial. Epic is good, sometimes
The track I meant was On my way to hell.
Giving a second listen now, enjoying it more, maybe it's just a grower
That was my second least favourite, but it has grown on me. The track I don't like is Believe , Belong .
Re: Balance 026
Disc2 has grown on me after a couple more listens
Re: Balance 026
CD1 is an absolute winner, so much good melody on there.
Still yet to give CD2 another listen, although track 5 on CD2 is superb

3/5 on residentadvisor and I agree with them on this. Not really my cup of tea.
Re: Balance 026
^^ It's a shame they can't do an review without slagging off progressive. Someone should tell them genre wars are a tad old hat. :)
Re: Balance 026
the person who did the review seems a little lazy to make a proper and profound job, I respect the opinion of everyone but obviously is not the best article I've read. I expected something more serious from RA. anyway ........
