I was just wondering about some of the comments that some people were making about digweed not playing the dirty/twisted/mindf*ck/dark house music... then who is? Is there a dj that is playing that kind of house music?

#413043Post 2 of 111

Re: if not digweed, then who?

Re: if not digweed, then who?

cp & moshic usually play a little darker than most, so does tim skinner, yunus, martin accorsi, habersham, andrew k, flash bros, snake sedrick, derek howells are just some other djs/producers who still bring that sound...

when i get enough dark tracks, i'll usually make a mix

digweed was the master at it....dont really think anyone has come close....its a shame he got away from it.

Re: if not digweed, then who?

Chuck , That is so true. Digweed was the master of the dark beats. I still think he has it in them. Mught just be the quality of tunes are not there. Now I have to say Tim skinner, Randall Jones, Moshic, Sean Cusick are just to name a few.

Re: if not digweed, then who?

oh he is still playing it, but it seems only in NYC or LA in the very long late night sets. Crobar at 4-5 AM last time around got pretty filthy.

Re: if not digweed, then who?

my theory is that digweed is trying to get away from the dark stuff because he got bored with it. isn't progress supposed to be about...uh...progress? but anyway, i also think that the darker tunes have gotten really forumulaic and the people who were making the good ones moved on to different sounds

I agree with you completly. I guess some people can't let go. Diggers now is just as good as old evil diggers. It is part of being a musician to change your style so you don't get board playing the same stuff over and over again.

He hasn't been evil here since 2003 NYE... Every other time here has been a huge disapointment for me. Say you want about being bored with "dark" music or progression... most of the tracks that are out right now are pretty fucking average at best. I haven't bought much of anything in months. Let's be realistic, most of us joined this board because we loved a certain sound that is no longer there.

Re: if not digweed, then who?

It's not about who's playing the dark tracks.

It's all about the mind fuck, and that can still exist even when it's not a dark set.

Diggers was THE master of taking us on a dark journey which would always end with his cock firmly jabbed in one of our ears and poking out the other.

Diggers also was the only one who could give us the same mind fuck in a not so dark set. How he did it I don't know, no one does.

I don't care if he's playing dark or not, that his choice, if he doesn't like it dark anymore then that's fine. But what does worry me is that he no longer cracks my skull open and spray his load on my grey matter, before crudely stitching my head back together a few hours later leaving me to wonder what happened.

No other DJ out there comes close to this, and I hope Digweed is just taking a holiday from it all for a short period while he recharges his batteries. Imagine the load he's gonna shoot at us when he gets back!

Hmm, those metaphors are "slightly" sexual, no?

I?d prefer it if he kept his cock out of my skull, thank you.

I totally agree with you, though.

i hope diggers does.

maybe there'll be another shift to more of a darker and dangerous feel to it later on.

I'm always high, but that doesn't take away from Digweed's headcracking abilities.

Well he might be getting bored of it and I certainly agree with you here but Just because others are continuing to play it I don't think shows a lack of "progress" (What ever that means anyways..and to progress to who exactly? lol) on their part.

Re: if not digweed, then who?

I would agree that Lisle is perhaps the one thowing some twisted tracks out there... even Cattaneo seems to have moved away from the dark side. I think it is a natural path... they'll come back in the future
