joris voorn's balance 14 was groundbreaking in my opinion! and i haven't heard anything similar to it since.
Agree.
To be fair, Diggers' Live in London 4 x Cd set is groundbreaking, if only for the fact (i) a DJ has the balls to put out a live set and (ii) it's mixed properly on the fly - a rarity these days.

I always loved the name of the album, so much so that I forgot it :D
Re: 60 most groundbreaking mix albums of all time
Sasha @ Avalon maybe worth a mention too. Although he was using ableton then...ballsy to put it out with the part of the night where the computer crashed maybe.

it was shite
Re: 60 most groundbreaking mix albums of all time
Groundbreakingly shite?
Re: 60 most groundbreaking mix albums of all time
No 'jeff mills: live at the liquid room' or "exhibitionist" mixing was better on the latter.
Luke slater "fear and loathing" #1?.....maybe not
No GU, & not one sasha and Digweed mix.
DE9 #1 would probably have been the most "groundbreaking" from the series no? As it it introduced the concept of live edits etc.
Fundacion? From 2005 so it must be shite.
Not one sven vath sound of the xxth season neither.
What about early shietso in search of bumhole?
Meh whatever.
Re: 60 most groundbreaking mix albums of all time
None of the x-mix series.

Had forgotten about that.
Regularly goes for £20+ on e-bay .. double the price. Should have bought a load of them !
Re: 60 most groundbreaking mix albums of all time
PIL's Metal Box usually fetches £50 on eBay. I should dig my copy out. I've never listened to the whole album.

I have the Kevin Saunderson mix of that. It's not groundbreaking, and totally ruined by silly voice overs.

Not groundbreaking but good....yeah the "deep space radio" voice overs get annoying.
I have the ken ishii vinyl and mix cd....It's a bit more left field techno and house.. Laurent Garnier had one too...
Dave Clarke electro boogie vol. 2...I haven't heard many proper electro mixes though....a dj digital mix maybe
There is no coldcut journey by dj...(I read that was john digweed's favourite mix comp he heard)...and none from that series.
Re: 60 most groundbreaking mix albums of all time
The jdj by coldcut is killer and stood the test of time well. Not sure it felt groundbreaking at the time as so many other mixes were in a similar vein back then.
