sasha has been hit or miss alot lately, especially during his fundacion residencies in la. when he's on, there's no one like him. when he's off, it's just awful

JZ, while a sick producer, is like an old mario game on speed, crack and meth. he is a dance DJ who scratches more than funkmaster flex and is too electro quirk for my tastes.

although sasha is getting too banging for me too. not as deep and melodic and trancy as he was back a few years ago.

digweed and warren 1 and 2. with Q6 pulling in 3rd.

are you kidding?! How can you even compare Sasha and Zabiela... they sound completely differen! In my opinion Sasha is on of the best djs out there along with Diggers, Howells, Lawler etc. Zabeila I can't really put in the same boat. I had a funny conversation this weekend about Zabiela, the I was speaking to said Zabiela should do some drugs cause then maybe he'd have more of a feeling of what the crowd wants to hear, I laughed.Don't get me wrong, Zabeila is a very talented dj who I expect good things from but I just can't enjoy his music like I can Sasha's.

For me selection is the most important thing, and Sasha's sound has always clicked with me, I just love the records he plays. JZ is almost the opposite, although he can pull a great record from time to time.

Skills are all well and good, but if the music doesn't sound good to me, I can't really give a fart about what DJ tricks are being done. I can go see Roc Raider or Q-Bert if I want to see sick tricks.

Scratching killed it for me too. Last time I saw him, his set opened up with a lot of energy, but then all was lost when the set degraded into scratching overkill. enough is enough. sometimes less is definitely more.

Actually, his scratching was one of the things that initially caught my attention in his Groovetech sets.

I'd vote for Zabiela since I've always enjoyed his shows. Admittedly, I haven't seen Sasha, but from the sets that I've heard of his in the past several years his track selection just doesn't do it for me.

I would like to add+ he is getting a lot better. His Peter Pan set was just a smidge off from perfect. I really enjoyed it. :D

James was playing a beautiful set, when all of a sudden he started going overboard with the scratching bit... and killed the whole set. That's my opinion I'm not hating on him or anything. I feel that less is more sometimes.

I can't believe these threads go this far...come on peeps! At least make it interesting. They're both genius's in their own way and I utterly respect and prostrate at their feet. How can you pick one over the other? I sure can't. Sasha's been with me for alot longer-so there's the loyalty/seniority factor. James is new and different sounding/breaky in a unique way that noone else on Earth right now can duplicate, so therefore...he's a worthy prodigy. Love 'em both. James...Sasha...thanks for all you do, and I could never rate you.
