My girlfriend did not find this relaxing car music when we were driving to my parents' home for her first meeting with them. :D

Re: John Digweed live in?
This Live series proves how versatile of a DJ John Digweed is.I think in years to come when I look back I can just choose a CD to suit my mood, it is a stamp in time how Diggers in his later climax in the post norties can still manage to deliver.

Albeit, regular Transitions listeners have a fair share of the 'live' feeling there's nothing set as concrete as listening to a disc release.

Slovenia reminds me of circa pre-2000's JD. Just absolute pure tech driven explosions in the sky from the word go.

I admit so far from his Live series Cordoba would still have to be my favorite, bypassing London. London was a mighty fine mix, but something about Cordoba just connected in the right wave length.

So... as I have a paper due this Friday, and this weekend being a long weekend here in Aus. Not only was i meant to go see JD & Anthony Pappa live belting it out for 7 hours straight, It was rather disappointing hearing CD 2 of Slovenia being a little too intense (probably due to my current context).

Di, if you ever see this, please don't rub it in my sad little face of how amazing your night will be. Think of me with Early Grey cups of tea and fake Jaffa Cakes (the only ones I can find) having a Live JD slush fest on the media player setlist.
V good post .. the versatility comes from how much music Diggers listens to .. probably more than any other DJ out there, always one to talk music John once went through how much he listens to on the road, literally as much of the day as he can searching out new music and working with his expanding record box, while A&R'ing gems for his own label.

 • his Bedrock label constantly unearths music and has a big release schedule supporting artists at a time other other labels cut back. So we get an artist album from Electric Rescue and Japanese Popstars after vinyl has been released to support Slovakia.

I have to say Oniris's EP last year was one of the best batches of music unearthed in recent times.

JD + Pappa would've destroyed minds.

Re: John Digweed live in?

^ I can guarantee many sore heads this morning Feather.

Going off Si's post above, I personally do think in our current age he is one of the hardest working DJ's out there mainly within the house/tech genres, as a producer I may beg to differ.

it's a testament to his Bedrock label, and I have to go back to his message that he left with on the [ms] 10th birthday mix; thanking us for remaining open to releases from below ‘mainstream' clutter. Having said that, I can only thank the man for providing us a fantastic fortnightly radio show, and disc releases that are world class. Moreover, whatever the future may bring in electronic music I hope it will still sound as good as it is.

One more request next 'Live' release any chance for a B2B with either Hernan, or relive past experiences for some ex-pats with Sasha, better still there's only 49 more episodes for the 500th Transitions show (wink wink).

i'm curious, how'd she react? is she into diggers?

Re: John Digweed live in?

Yeah, she likes house music. I used to know here from parties around here 5 or 7 years ago and lost track, then we saw each other again this March and hit it off.

Re: John Digweed live in?

Given this a few listens now and it's not for me. Appreciate it's a later set, but it's too heavy for me with no real memorable tracks.

Don't get me wrong, it is by no means a bad release, I was just hoping it would be more like London.

Also got to say the Chems remix is terrible, but then again I can't stand them really, amazed at the support they get!

Re: John Digweed live in?

i am more into melodic + proggy stuff in general, so i didnt have high expectations for this release with people complaining about it being too hard. but cd2 really blew me away last night. really hard stuff, but it never got boring as other techno stuff does for me (ie adam beyer, carola, bart skils etc) mixing is close to perfection as well. i wasn't disappointed by any Live In release, really looking forward to the miami thing now

Re: John Digweed live in?

ok. disc 2 is so much better than cd1. somehow boring oO

#1715368Post 219 of 221

Re: John Digweed live in?

that is funny i felt just the opposite that 2 was way more boring then 1

Re: John Digweed live in?

CD2 is much harder, but more diversity regarding the track selection. its full on from the beginning, the booka shade tracks are kind of lower gear than the rest- the whole thing climaxes with the versus track, xtc and lyoc. and is closed nicely by the deetron remix.

the first CD isn't as good programmed as the second one imo and has no stand out tracks. for me at least
