Your all a set of lucky buggers. We in the UK pay almost ?4 a gallon. Not sure what that is in bucks but around ?7 ish i reckon.

Put that in ya pipe and smoke it. (not literaly of course)
That's right MJ, gas/petrol prices in the UK are through the roof!!

costs me about ?15 to fill up my shitty little metro.

Its even cheaper than the states in Dubai, we filled up our car for about ?4.50.

That takes the piss if you are British

Here it is $1.87/gallon for regular.

#208222Post 43 of 63

my intent wasnt to complain about our prices by starting this thread, I am well aware that we have extremely low prices I was just curious what they were like else where...

I'll get mine when we go to ibiza in sept & have to convert dollars to the euro :(

#208223Post 44 of 63

anywhere from $1.97 - $2.25 a gallon.

thankfully i got rid of my gas guzzling car last Fall. Now i take the subway and save lots. Or, i drive my moms car and conveniently not fill it up ;)

Re: Gas prices in yer neck of the woods?

ours came back down here in denver to around 1.86$ I noticed the other day...Im blessed though cause I live about a mile from work & thus fill up once every 2 weeks...

how bout you? anyone still getting raped?
Where in Denver are you getting gas?? Is this the price for the crap gas?? I have a high output japanese motor so I have to use premium. In fact it says the minium is 91 octane which is the most we have here. Sometimes I feel bad putting the minimum in there when most states have 92 or 93 octane which would be better. Any way, I'm still paying around $2.00+ a gallon.
im in the same boat.. i gotta have 93 & am able to get it for about 2.10...

#209463Post 50 of 63

$1.89- $2.05 I noticed last week the prices were going down though. Hope that continues!

#209466Post 51 of 63

$1.85 here in Laurel, MS and in Jackson which is the biggest city in MS, i saw it for as low as $1.76

#209471Post 52 of 63

$1.93ish

should I think bottom out to around the $1.50-$1.70 range when all is said and done (for 89 octane)

#209476Post 53 of 63

Just paid $1.72 per gallon 87 octane....not to shabby.
For the Americans on the board who aren't aware: in England the pump price is close on 75% duty and VAT. This has caused some big demonstrations in the past and a couple of years ago the hauliers blockaded refineries and shut down the supply of fuel to just about the whole country!

What do Americans pay in fuel tax? Do you reckon that this should be more? Would it encourage Americans to use cars less and to improve fuel efficiency and so help the environment?
Yes. Thank you for posting this in response to all the people who say we are lucky.....they could be just as lucky if they told there gov. to shove it.

Here are U.S. gas taxes: Read the far right column it shows the combined state and federal tax total in cents per gallon. http://www.energy.ca.gov/gasoline/statistics/gas_taxes_by_state_2002.html

There has actually been a lot of talk in America about raising the gas tax to finance the government and then lower the income tax by 5%-10%, leading to safer road ways, less polution and congestion, and a more robust economy......... but as usual it has been shot down over and over because "it only benefits rich people" And obviously no sane person would support a jacked up gas tax w/o some sort of compensatory concession.

Sorry to throw politics in the mix, but sometimes i believe our antiquated fairness doctrines that are based on relativity and were pioneered in the 60's and 70's are really starting to hold us back.

Of course there are a few problems with the proposed plan. Hiking gas prices will certainly cut demand and lower tax revenue......i don't see a problem with that, but since our gov. never gets its spending in order it would certainly lead to deficits 10 or so years down the line. Eventually they would raise gas tax more for a temporary boost in tax revenue only to have to raise income tax to make up the difference. The gas tax increase/income tax decrease is a really good plan but it will never work unless both parties agree not to ruin it for political gain.......fat chance.

#209541Post 54 of 63

anyone NOT in europe, asia or south america should stop bitching about gas prices. its much more expensive elsewhere, you people dont realize how lucky we are.

We are not "lucky" that we don't have taxes. The people we have elected and the resolve of our nation not to penalize commerce and enrich the gov. has nothing to do with luck.
it's been fluctuating between $2.10 and $2.50 here in Vegas. The news tonight says it could possibly drop down to $1.30 very soon.. haha.. riiiiiiight.
sounds like some hopeful thinking or watercooler talk.

only if the money from the tax went towards expanding public transportation. otherwise, people would just be pissed AND broke.
