Re: involv3r tracklist
I´ve only listened to this once and thought it was okay, not great but not bad either. It sounded like a mixture of 94 Sasha and Involver 1 Sasha. I´ll listen to it a couple of times more and come back with a better review.
Re: involv3r tracklist
I do not know what he wanted to express with this cd, if he wanted to say something, Too many vocals, seems like an electronic band like "bent" or someone else, aside, many of the tracks were played last year till now, There is no surprise, wait so long for this is as a kind of desepcion. If you dont know it is sasha, you can think it is Maceo plex, Ricky Ryan or some other great dj of house, for me thats is, Another cd of House with a couple of good tracks, nothing else. and this will pass quickly.
Re: involv3r tracklist
I tried everything.. home stereo system, car, armature headphones at home, headphones on the airplane.. nothing is working. I want to like this, but I can't for some reason.. and I don't think I am critical at all. I randomly saw him last night at Bay Side in Miami (where all the boats dock) with his entourage..he looked f'ed up! Good for him :)

LOL maybe that is part of his problem,
Re: involv3r tracklist
i think the only thing i like about the cd is the thermal bear track, that is the closest to the sasha sound that i like, the rest is forgettable.
i like fundacion LA and NYC better than this one. and those were my least like sasha releases.
Re: involv3r tracklist
I kind of dig it, especially the second half where he picks up the energy a bit. But this certainly wasn't what I was expecting. If I was played this without knowing who it was, I would have called bullshit on someone telling me this was Involver 3.

Re: involv3r tracklist
After listening to this CD a couple of times I have to say that it´s not as bad a some people here have said. The only thing bad/strange about it is the flow. This is quite shocking when you compare it to the two Involvers before. Not only were the tracks great but the flow and atmosphere they created was amazing. I think a longer version of this, with longer transitions and pauses in between the Vocals to let them breath would be just as good as the other two.
Northern Exposure 2 for me, just sublime.
This. Yesterday, I was listening to "The Light - Panfried". Closing my eyes while enjoying the bassline, I was suddenly swooped back to Twilo. I miss the bass rumbles that would shake your insides. No sound system that I've heard is the same. Even while waiting in line you could hear how deep, crisp and thunderous the bass was.
I am mostly into 90's, early 2000 Sasha. ADD, and the Involvers were not my cup of tea. I wanted to give Involv3r a listen, but after hearing some of the comments here, I'm afraid to.
Re: involv3r tracklist
Re. the 'flow', it doesn't sound like a mix, more like a bunch of songs sequenced together.
Re: involv3r tracklist
Interesting to see how this thread evolves. By next year this time this mix will be considered amazing probably .
Re: involv3r tracklist
^^^i highly doubt that.
i still cant get through it. the repetitive drum beat is killing me.

I highly doubt it too actually, but we both know there have been many mixes that started out unappealing only to eventually grow on people... unfortunately this isn't really mixed really .
Re: involv3r tracklist
The songs themselves are superb. The flow is just not there imho.
I didn't want it to be banging, I just wanted the tracks to drift from one to the next. The whole thing is 1h50 mins mixed properly with the tracks playing out, but he has edited the edits to make it fit a 74 min CD, problem with that is it just jumps from one vocal to the next and ruins the flow, plus he has simply slammed a couple of mixes in and around 32 minutes has a mix that is well out of key. I honestly don't think he has listened to it back.
I have done myself a mix of it, all in ableton, so it is pretty tight, but a different feel to his version.
I posted a link in the Involv3r thread in the Sasha promo thread, have a listen if you can be bothered and see what you think..

What the hell is a matter with you guys? Come on man Sasha is getting old....
Re: involv3r tracklist
I've been listening to involv3r the last 3 days. It's not as deep and dark as I supposed it would be, but it's ok to listen to while driving a car or at a meeting with friends. It has too many vocals, I think. And the sequences are very similar from track to track. Anyways, it sounds good and fresh. 8)

Re: involv3r tracklist
The first 2 tracks are okay. As people have said before, too many vocals. There's no flow to the album. This mix has no personality compared to older Sasha mixes. Even my wife said it was making her sleepy.
Re: involv3r tracklist
Does anyone else this MOS had a huge part in the final product of this album? I heard on FB (a very reliable source) that this album was never complete, due to Sasha taking his sweet ass doing sweet fa, and MOS provided an ultimatum to hurry the fuck up, hence the track sequencing being produced by a 15 y.o bedroom DJ hooked on porn. Thus, a unfinished symphony.
I don't know if you guys have seen this:

For the true Ableton fans out there.
I'm not really going to bother to write a whole review, but to simply say listen to it by yourself and make what you think of it.
Two things that really stood for me being different were:
[]This is not the usual mellow style of Involver mixes we're used to hearing, definitely a harder bass line and I did notice a slightly faster BPM. This is probably due to the touring side of things having tracks ready for dance floor. Mind you, having watched him in both Involver tours, it is a little ordinary having an 'mellow' album played back when you've got your dancing shoes on. [] Vocally it was consistent I thought to the previous Involver mixes, however he did choose the pop route this time, sticking to tracks from The XX, Little Dragon etc.
Overall this album/mix is really growing on me, I simply cannot underestimate the genius of CD 2. I know it's just CD 1 without a beat, but it is superbly done (the magic of Sasha). I am sure we are all aware that any Sasha set takes at least 3 hours to warm up. CD 1 really does have it moments, sine tracks are inequitably reworked, and again I give it to the man.
Charlie May could be that missing link on why this is a unusual Sasha mix.

Maybe people would view the release less harshly if they remember this is Sasha without the guy who's been a regular production partner for many a year?
I could probably make a half decent album myself if i had Charlie with me in the studio for a year
Re: involv3r tracklist
this has grown on me a little bit.
but i really don't like the song that goes beep beep...beep boop....beep beep...beep boop...boop boop....boop boop...boop boop and then has drums punch in out of no where. wtf is that shit.

Considering Involver is his pet project it's kinda lame that he took his sweet time doing fuck all and released this half assed mix. Based on this thread, what does the mix say about Sasha?
And I call BS on taking 3hrs to warm up. When he headlines, he comes on and bangs it out, hardly any warm up. I've seen Digweed start from silence and bring it up in 1hr. Plus this is a CD compilation, he'll never have 3hrs to warm up unless he released a 4-CD mix like London.
this has grown on me a little bit.
Same here.. I just keep it away from my headphones. Sounds cool as.. background music I guess, and I do enjoy certain parts of the mix, but still can't get into it.. like say.. I did with Warren's new album.
Re: involv3r tracklist
he's certainly creating a buzz
Re: involv3r tracklist
^ indeed.. I haven't listened to the second cd yet, I should do that. Also, thanks for posting that interview Illuminate... very nice to hear him go trough what went on.
Re: involv3r tracklist
Can´t say i'm surprised with all the bad comments from this CD because Sasha has been criticized on mostly every recent stuff available here on MS...
Personally i´ve enjoyed Involv3r ... First Involver still by far my fav though
i agree I def agree that some of the transitions are suspect, too quick, but the tracks themselves are fuckin sweet if you ask me.
For Sasha to still be able to make an album this good despite his obvious lack of influence compared to what it used to be is a success in itself
Re: involv3r tracklist
Have to say that the album is not as bad as some people say it is, but I agree that it doesn't fit in the Involver series.
Really like the beach vibe, it sounds fresh and like summer, but it's not new or timless. He should have called the cd Ushuaia or WMC '13 or something like that. The only things that irritate me are the transitions, some vocals and the last tracks. Don't know what went wrong at the end, but I prefer to stop the cd after track 10. "Shoot you down" is such a uggly track!
Prefer cd 2 over cd 1 btw. It has the flow that cd 1 is missing. I think I will play that cd a lot this summer when I'm chilling in the garden :).
Re: involv3r tracklist
not trying to be an underground sounds finder anymore cos im tired .. ... but ive gave this a go after a long while and actually enjoyed it.. way too much vocals but there are a few gems in this comp..
