Anyone know where you can pick this up for a decent price? I wish it would get re released.

Northern Exposure Vol One
Re: Northern Exposure Vol One
What you don't want to pay big money for one of the greatest mix cds ever
Re: Northern Exposure Vol One
I just sold my second copy, I offered it here, by decent price what do you mean?

Roving IP's and email aliases are making it all the more difficult for MI5 these days
Re: Northern Exposure Vol One
They keep deleting my accounts but I don't give a fuck I'm not interested in archiving my posts or beating off about my post count.
Re: Northern Exposure Vol One
well in the US its very diffucult to find the 2 disk version, and the single disk version seems to cost about 50 bux.
was hoping to get both disks for around 20 but i guess i am dreaming.
Re: Northern Exposure Vol One
Get the real thing, if you can. It's pricey, 30-40 pounds.
Re: Northern Exposure Vol One
I think eBay is your best bet at this point... This and Volume Two are probably the only compilations I wish I had but never got around to picking up.

i have all 3, for vol 1 i paid £100 still sealed but that was a few years ago now, had it back in the day on cd ( still have vinyl ) but someone swiped it
someone on amazon.co.uk is selling it sealed now for an amazingly low £1200 ( no shit  )
edit seems to have been taken down now

If my memory works fine, there are three of this series, right? Fantastic compilations, by the way.
Re: Northern Exposure Vol One

The others in 97 and 98. if i'm right.
Re: Northern Exposure Vol One
As a coincidence I had NE1 on today, both CDs on the bounce ... sounded sublime and never cease to amaze me.
Ebay has copied regularly, but expect to pay a fair bit for a pristine copy:

In monetary terms its a great investment, the price of a bottle of grey goose or decent scotch, but will give you more enjoyment and you avoid the hangover.
You can't put a price a great music though.

Hardest part is that only the 2CD versions were released in the UK. Americans always trying to release everything under their own label in single CD's (re: Thrive releasing GU versions with different covers etc).. also years after they were already released in the UK.. so the UK versions are the true Originals. That is why they are so hard to find.

Re: Northern Exposure Vol One
There are only three, with many covers of them. that must be the reason of my confusion.

I only had NE2 myself but heard them all. Listening to NE2 now due to this thread! 8)

possibly the best ever VINYL release there has been, don't get me wrong the cd is perfect also but having most of the tunes in full gives it that something a little bit more... probably one of my best buys ever
Re: Northern Exposure Vol One
I have that too, Dark Train has its own side :). A collector (a geek like us) needs to own every copy, because it's like your first love/sex, you wish there was more of it! The vinyl is cool but the two mixes are hard to match, Sasha's mash-up of the two versions of I Am Free, the Dark Train's stabs at the end. The surface noise when Positron starts to play! And all those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain! (which is also a reference to Ren 1 :)).
that east disk just blows my mind, what a masterpiece.
Totally agree.
i remember working in a HiFi store when it came out, on a busy saturday we had it pumping out all day and so many people went and bought it. From your goths through to New Romantic types, even one guy who came in for a demo with nothing but classical, just people who had never listened to dance before.
I even have Northern Exposure 2: East as a separate playlist on my iTunes.
Re: Northern Exposure Vol One
It was magical the first time I heard them. The amount of time it took to feel transported to another world was so short.

Re: Northern Exposure Vol One
i just paid £21 for mine an £2.75 p+p bought the others ages ago but been trying 2 get NE1 on ebay but the prices were takin the mick some of em were goin 4 bout 40 quid so i put a bid in 4 21 quid thinking if it goes higher i wont bother but i won it so i thought fair enough classic cd used 2 have it i bought it when it first came out but sold it like my other classic cd's to go out in my teen age years.
Re: Northern Exposure Vol One
I have two copies of ne1, after i moved in with my girlfriend about 10 years ago! We dont need two but i just dont think i could sell one, maybe
Its kind of funny how Soudcloud are deleting peoples mixes while allowing people to listen to Northern Exposure. Soundcloud have no broadcasting licence so are in fact breaking copyright laws
Thats why i didnt post the links here. Thought it was kinda strange stuff like that is allowed to be on Soundcloud but then again there seems to be full albums and similar stuff on Youtube these days so whats the difference??
Re: Northern Exposure Vol One
Chunks has a point, I don't know who this +dB user is, he's posting Pink Floyd and The Beatles (someone from the SC staff?)

Whoever it is, they have a great collection of music from over the years. Im happy to listen as long as its there!
Re: Northern Exposure Vol One
It's not like I don't take advantage of his/their uploads, I'm just wondering. Big names can't upload mixes because the first track is a remix of a mainstream artist, wtf?
Re: Northern Exposure Vol One
i have the unmixed versions of vol 1 and 2 on vinyl :)
Re: Northern Exposure Vol One
Can never get bored of volume 1.
Re: Northern Exposure Vol One
NE1 is superb, both discs are great in different ways.
I thought the 1st disc of NE2 was poor, and CD2 saved it.
