Since it's discovery in 1846, it was calculated that Neptune revolves around the sun so slowly, it took roughty 165 years to finish a circle / year around the sun.

A single molecule of pentacene, which is commonly used in solar cells is made up of 22 carbon atoms and 14 hydrogen atoms. The space between the carbon rings is only 0.14 nanometers across, which is roughly one million times smaller than the diameter of a grain of sand.

All the gold in the world would fit into a 20.15 meter cube, or 66 feet 1.3 inches square.

somehow I seriously doubt that, If I remember right, Fort Knox has 8000 tons of gold. I doubt that's going to fit in an area 10 x 6.6 feet
Re: Post one Random Scientific Fact you know...
Male giraffes have been called "especially gay" for often engaging in same-sex sexual behavior more than male-female (heterosexual) sex.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mammals_displaying_homosexual_behavior
In one study, up to 94 percent of observed mounting incidents took place between males. The proportion of same-sex activities varied from 30–75 percent. Only one percent of same-sex mounting incidents occurred between females.

FN is obviously empty and judging by the rare footage available (from the 70s) the safe itself is not that large.
Fact: Acting Ensign Wesley Crusher clearly demonstrated that runaway nanites are to be captured with mouse-traps.

Re: Post one Random Scientific Fact you know...
One of the sources of the 2012 Doomsday event arrives from a lesser known scientific fact. The "Solar Maximus". A violent solar eruption (call it a burp if you would) that occurs once every 11 years. It's expected to occur sometime this year any day between Aug - Dec. If it is as violent as the last one back in early 2000 (which took out power grids etc.), all of the people living in snow-prone areas, be sure to buy at least 2 jerry cans and fill them with gasoline. Worst case scenario, you drive down and pitch tent just south of the freeze line.
I call dibs on gate-crashing Florida's house until power is restored.

Almost all of the Universe is missing There are probably more than 100 billion galaxies in the cosmos. Each of those galaxies has between 10 million and a trillion stars in it. Our sun, a rather small and feeble star (a “yellow dwarf”, indeed), weighs around a billion billion billion tons, and most are much bigger. There is an awful lot of visible matter in the Universe. But it only accounts for about two per cent of its mass. We know there is more, because it has gravity. Despite the huge amount of visible matter, it is nowhere near enough to account for the gravitational pull we can see exerted on other galaxies. The other stuff is called “dark matter”, and there seems to be around six times as much as ordinary matter. To make matters even more confusing, the rest is something else called “dark energy”, which is needed to explain the apparent expansion of the Universe. Nobody knows what dark matter or dark energy is.

Re: Post one Random Scientific Fact you know...
The human body inexplicably loses a minute amount of weight at the moment of death. The generalized weight of 21 grams has come around because it was the weight lost by the very first human who was subject to the study, which was an attempt at proving the existence of the human soul, and it's departure from the human body when it dies.

Re: Post one Random Scientific Fact you know...
The Sun produces all its energy by fusing 4 Hydrogen atoms into a Helium atom thereby discharging immense amount of radiation, light, and heat. When all the Hydrogen available to it burns out, it will start burning the Helium atoms, causing the atoms to grow in size due to the immense heat, and that will result in the end of the earth as the sun grows to 250 times its original size and fries away the 4 inner planets. It will completely end up destroying Mercury and Venus in the process as they will physically cease to exist.

When a child has lost material from the proximal part of the long arm of chromosome 15, between 15q11 and 15q13, - he is liable to develop one of two well-known syndromes.
If the deletion has arisen on the chromosome 15 that came from the father, the child will have Prader-Willi syndrome.
If the deletion has arisen on the chromosome 15 that came from the mother, the child will have Angelman syndrome.

The First Law of Thermodynamics is stated as follows: Matter and energy can be neither created nor destroyed. There are no natural processes that can alter either matter or energy in this way. This means that there is no new matter or energy coming into existence and there is no new matter or energy passing out of existence. All who state that the universe came into existence from nothing violate the first law of thermodynamics.
