I'll buy any GU album without question as soon as it comes out no matter who it's by. I generally download stuff just to see what it's like before I buy it. If it's good then I'll always buy, if not then I delete the mp3. Have a couple of old albums on mp3 that I can't get in the shops anymore. However, I downolad loads of movies that I never intend to buy. Maybe that's because there are just too many shit ones out there and it would cost me too much to pay to see em all. I buy movie classics and box sets normally like aliens, lotr, star wars etc.

Do you buy albums or just leech?

I have also been introduced to some new artists via p2p and bought albums I would never have thought of listening to otherwise.
Very true. It wasn't for p2p and the net I would have never heard of some of those artists I like now. So for me p2p has encouraged me to spend more money on music. Interesting point!
I only d.l live sets due to a friend of mine being filed a law suite for ?50,000 last year. If i hear an album that i like i will go out and spend my hard earned on it.
I used to dl everything, but lately I'm having a change of heart. Ever since I discovered lossless audio codecs (FLAC is particular) my attitude toward mp3s has dropped immensely. Plus what ddr said about Best Buy is the whole truth. Most of their new release CDs are $9.99, Involver included. To me there is no match for the original CD quality sound and FLAC makes storing full no loss of quality albums more realistic. All I really dl now is mixes, and if they sold them online in some form of lossless audio I'd buy them too.
I listen to most of my music on my computer so what I do is buy the CD, rip it and encode to FLAC and store the original so it doesn't get fucked up. I mean come on...the new Killswitch Engage was $7.99 at Best buy when it came out. If you can't afford to break off that little amount of money for a band you are a fan of then you obviously aren't that big of a fan.
The last album I bought without listening to first was Tyrant - Fabric and it was awful. I usually dl and give a listen and then if I like it I'll buy it. Also as soon as a cd is released I'll delete it from my shared files.
i love to have the original album, obviously only if i like the artist... it doesnt matter if it isnt ok.
if i have the opportunity to download a album b4 it's out in the store, i do it. That's the only way to get a proper listening, especially Progressive House Albums or Mixed CD's. And if the album is great or a must have like Balance006 or Sasha's Involver i definite buy it. We have to support the artist, otherwise it could be the last thing we heard of him.
i only leech digweed sets cause im a HUGE fan, i buy everything else
I dl to sample, then i buy what i fancy. Tomorrow, Involver.
I would be willing to pay for higher quality sets when I have money I would buy cds
Oh also if I couldn't download some of the stuff I wouldn't have such a robust liking for music I'm always exploring new sounds and such Like middle eastern Operas etc I like to expand my mind with differnt flavors of music
I like to think it of it shareware, if you like it great go but the album, but if I don't, throw it away. Its not like a treat all my album buying like this but for the ones I'm not sure of I will. It's a great tool for that, if only more music company would use it as such, it would be great. I not saying they should allow to download music like a leech, but if would do more streaming I think find that we would buy more. :Bingo:
Yup i agree. I download albums to check them out see if i like them. If i do, i buy them. I got close 1000 cds so im not really stealing. Im just making sure its worth it since the record stores charge a lot for one album.
i buy stuff i know will be fire, & lod stuff that is questionable on if i will like or not.. usually it turns out its not great & only listen to it once anywayz. so its kinda like a preview.

No shit. That was in the UK?
How did that come about, if you don't mind me asking?
I download most music, but I will buy the cd's that I like. If I don't, delete.
I dont mind downloading live sets but when it comes to artists albums, im more than happy to pay for them, its only cheap skate bastards that download everything.
Buying albums...or vinyl..or whatever you wanna call it
I dl a lot of livesets, but I'd rather spin vinyl. You can see the grooves which helps a lot. With all the good music out there now, not to mention the fact that I work and go to school, I wouldn't have time to dl singles and memorize all the tracks. Besides, the producers of the "soundtrack of our lives" deserve compensation....that's the most important thing...
