Re: Dj sneak calls swedish house mafia "dj actors"

Both sides think they are right, both sides are making money. Swedish H M seems to be happy and making money doing what they do so whatever you know?

Here's SHM's response:
People like different things and that's positive. Imagine if we would all be in ibiza listening to mozart .. Its way of life , things change for the good and for the worse. Instead of bitching about it do something about it , if you think the music sucks make better music and build a fan base and do your thing with the strength of your brand .. Too many stand on the sideline commenting on the game. Join it , own it and go all in .. Its easy to throw up on others and and easy to tell people their music suck , and easy to say it was better back then ... I use to play vinyl from the day I got my decks in 1994 I'm happy I did that. Most of the guys out there has never seen decks and has never made music or run a label for 10 years. I've done it all and still do it. The game won't change cause people complain the game changes when people join it. So stop bitching on my conversation with Dj Sneak and start where we started. We're artists and have things to tell eachother.he might hate me and what I do but in the end of the game not everyone can like everything. I just think its immature to do it on twitter when we can do it in person.in the end of the day its all about music and no beef. That's what dance music is about and that's why its the biggest music genre out there. We built this together and we'll sink it together if we continue to handle success as kids. I die for this and dedicated my whole life to it. Doesn't matter if you like me or not I'll continue this jurney with the love we have from our fans and we'll never stop ! That's it .. Just dropped this convrsation and already wasted way to much time on it .. Much Love -S A
i just think dj sneak makes himself look stupid by doing that publically.

i also noticed once a genre of music becomes succesful commercially, you have this underground v mainstream thing that happens. this is no different. it just goes to show you how popular edm has become.

Re: Dj sneak calls swedish house mafia "dj actors"

^ how is this any different than pissing on guetta? anyone who has ever followed the EDM scene with more than a passing interest probably saw the DJ Mag poll and thought, "oh lawdy, this shit is out of control.' DJ Sneak is merely the first one to say what everyone is thinking.

is anyone actually doubting the truth to Sneak's claim? does anyone here actually think SHM is anything but a three-man stage show, who, but-for the fireworks, would sound dull and, dare I say, bog-standard pop fodder? (lulz)

ffs, they make oakenfold look like a proper dj again because they (SHM) have moved the goal posts so far low as to what a quality dj should be.

Re: Dj sneak calls swedish house mafia "dj actors"

Everyone inside EDM knows they are actors, videos of them playing pre-recorded sets, etc, .. i had several conversations with a few unnamed respected DJ's about what happened to guys like SHM, Sander K. and so on, how come they completely lost it music-wise. Their usual answer was that they fell into deception of thinking they do it good because everyone around them says so. So they don't actually go and seek for the music which is good but music and effects which most of the crowd according to their surrounding can digest. That's the difference to true underground edm stars: they don't give a phuck about what other people say. Just as JD won't ever be doing silly jumping around with hands straight up when playing. Luckily.

P.s. Majority of the people don't have any taste for the music. Guetta's, Avicii's and other commercial crap djs are there to fill their empty hearts with simplistic associations. Most of their audience never really experienced a true clubbing experience.

Yes I doubt it. DJ Sneak actually said the same thing about Sasha & Digweed a few years back. Your own personal taste is not the barometer that sets the standard. And anyone who believes that playing 6 hours of some ropey throbbing Techno to a few hundred people is some bench mark is seriously deluding themselves.

Most of these DJ's attract a big crowd because people have a good night out when they go to their nights. Most people tend to prefigure music they find Melodic, Emotional & Uplifting and that tends to be the music these resented DJ's play.

And don't get me started on the "underground":)
Dude who peed in your cereal?
Generally people who think liking a certain type of music makes them better than anyone else. Music is just entertainment and nothing else. Some people will tell you they are into Forward Thinking, Cuttting Edge music. There is no such thing as Forward Thinking, Cuttting Edge music, its a term coined by bell ends who think their taste in music is superior to someone else's. Quotes like this one
P.s. Majority of the people don't have any taste for the music. Guetta's, Avicii's and other commercial crap djs are there to fill their empty hearts with simplistic associations. I agree with Chunky. These guys are doing no more than providing people with a good time and it's working. Good luck to em.

Feel free to stand outside one of their gigs and tell people on their way out they haven't enjoyed a "true club experience" - i'd imagine 20,000 people would say "fuck off you boring bastard"

They are playing the same game as Sasha, only more people are paying attention.

Re: Dj sneak calls swedish house mafia "dj actors"

South Africa has recently had Guetta and Deadm8, then last weekend had Iviici and all the radio station DJ;s could talk about was the staging and production dancers and side entertainment.

Yet every concert was sold out and the young crowd loved every minute of the shows. So people are spending money and thats why these guys keep getting bigger.

I wonder if Hernan would get such a big following if he came out here. Probably not because his music is not played every 2 hours on a loop on radio stations.

So the bigger the production = lots of money = success = lots of radio time = bigger productions etc etc

I however dont go to these guys but would travel anywhere in the country to see Hernan.

Re: Dj sneak calls swedish house mafia "dj actors"

But pushing 'commercialism' aside you can still find some amazing DJ's, producers, artists who exist out there. Still having some great nights out seeing local kids pump out some great tunes. Not everyone has their eyes set on money and global stardom.

Well more than anger I feel sorry for the kids of today who have been pressured into believing Steve Angello has mixing skills of a god. Well...:what

But... at the end of the day they still have a good time, albeit listening to BEP or David Guetta feat. every pop artist imaginable.

Take this scenario, every time I head off to a pub just to catch up for a few pints, the jukebox is always pumping with the most obscure songs. Few drinks later you up with sing-a-longs to Lionel Richie? Still have a kick ass time.

I guess that's how music is. You can't really scrutinies on something that is pretty personal to you or the culture you may associate with.

#1606857Post 29 of 144

Re: Dj sneak calls swedish house mafia "dj actors"

And another thing, you got to remember most of the Gen Y+ kids would have no idea who or what Hernan or Deep Dish are/were.

The times are a changin' we've just got to deal with it I guess.

Agreed, my mjsic was 80's so our house parties varie from edm to swopping it out for some yazoo, annie lennox, simple minds and talking heads and go crazy for ages then swing right back into a Hernan set and rave on a different buzz all aver again.

Its what I love, is what I listen to, so i can enjoy the best time, out of the little life I have left !!
