chunky used to be nice but recently it seems like he has a 2x4 stuck up his ass... not sure that warrants a ban, but he certainly has not been the same chunky i'm used to. so i could care less either way...
i'm sure the ban isn't permanent. he's been a staple here for years.

Yes but to very specific people, presumably due to some altercation we're unaware of. Unfortunate that those spilled over into other threads, maybe that's the reason for the ban. But on the whole he is hardly as bad as some of us ...

He can´t be banned forever, may be he returns in a few days and explain us what really happened or maybe some mod.
On the other hand, an insult is a serious offense, (if this is the reason).and should be punished somehow. i don't like to be insulted, me or anyone else.
But of course these are just guesses.

I think he probably got frustrated with some people talking plain shit and wanted to say what he thought... I tend to disregard a lot of comments these days as I imagine some MS members sitting in a trailer park in mid usa/canada/uk with absolutely nothing to do but piss people off...anyway...I am all for having him back...and think banning him just goes to demonstrate the bias and personal feelings some of the mods harbour...but that's neither here nor there. He brought the X factor to the place (Not the TV show kind but the X for unknown) as he had no problems being devils advocate or arguing for some points I find plain crazy...not because I don't agree but because they cannot be proven and are are essentially a mater of personal belief...and some people chose to ridicule him for his beliefs...it should be THEY that are banned not him... all that said... in the last thread Chunky posted in...I think I summed it nicely "You are all slightly insane".

its temp, 7 days. receiving too many complaints specifically about him, i ain't got nothing against the man, but when people continue to specifically pm me about him and chunky was asked to ease up several times in the past (which evidently didn't happen), it had to be done (albeit for a short duration).

Well...i think that's slightly untrue...probably more likely that we lost them because he was a mod (unless I am mistaken) and they felt unable to "argue" without using insults...anyway...i don't think he is not edgy...but god people really do take themselves a tad bit too seriously don't they.

All I can say is that I know him personally, he's a very nice bloke and a great laugh.
Plus C has been a major/immense contributer to P & R's on [ms] : he had differences of opinion about running the section (he's very passionate about this which is understandable given the input he's had) + he can get controversial at times (as can others).
Hopefully he's back in 7 days and keeps within the boundaries needed :)

The amount of quality old and timeless music i discovered thanks to him is inmense.. Very important MS member imo.. Sometimes i don't share his responses to some other members but well, don't think is a big deal either..

We also went through a phase with Pickle and other contributors on one side, pushing for quantity and anything goes, and people who instead wished for a more structured P&R. But whatever.

Fair enough if you feel that way my friend. Please take twenty minutes to see how much music and knowledge Chunky has brought here over time. If it were true that someone left because of him it's a shame someone would just leave rather than sort it out I feel, but hey ho. We can't put a number on the people who came here in the first place because of his efforts though can we ? I'd say many kept on coming too because he kept on delivering the goods and kept on taking the time to help.

I don't know him personally but he's always come across to me as a top bloke. I wonder sometimes if there's a lot of misunderstanding of people here in terms of sense of humour? Fair to say that Brit humour is a little different from US humour for example, sarcasm often gets lost in text. Maybe people took him seriously when he's kidding and thought he was kidding when he was serious at times?

This is a double edged sword, would you rather have people just come in here for music or come in here to make friends, the latter being the foundation of what was the original intention behind the sight. Of late, it's become a festering pot of bickering and music and I personally don't like that (as much as many others in here). I'd rather have 50 happy posters / friends sharing lesser music rather than have only 5 people willing to become friends and accept a particular individual's negative personality (this is not specifically towards chunky but a general statement to your response).
Moreover, a healthy majority of the people who have disapproved the ban don't appear to be from the US and with most folks generally against the US in the Politics forum, I did expect this.
I for one have always been against suspending users but Chunky's issue has been going on for months and months now and increasing in frequency.

Thanks for the reply Kamal. People coming here to share/discuss music, make friends, have a laugh, yes. The vibe of this forum has always been the thing that set it apart imo, I don't really come here for music so much as just coming here because of the people here I like. The music discussion has taken a kick in the bollocks since p&r got taken over by the spammers but I think, in time, will come back now you've moved the offenders on. Yes, Chunky has been spilling the stuff out into other forums too, in the most random places. So taken out of context, it would appear Chunky is being disruptive. But at least he's not trolling indiscriminately in threads as some of us are prone to. He's never struck me as a public nuisance.
So to your point about coming here to make friends, I doubt if Chunky is turning newbies off from participating since he got it for very specific people with, presumably, a cause. And it usually takes two or more for stuff to get out of hand ...
I only hope he returns with no hard feelings given what's transpired, now that would really ruin things for the board.

I'd like to file a complaint against the individuals who complained against him, in reference to MercuryServer Forum Statute 35.02 relating to the inappropriate presence of sand in their vaginas.

imo ms has reached a low point as far as being a forum used to make friends and discuss music but has reached a high point in the amount of music and sets that are available and the database to orgnaize all your favorite djs.

My take on it was that Chunky thought this was his message board and when things changed...he took the hump and started abusing other members. I have never seen anything positive from him to do with the progression of [ms] so i think thats where people get put off posting and contributing to it.
Obviously i dont know him personally and you can never take someones internet persona as their real one but he had a few goes at me just for trying to introduce new music to others. Very narrow minded and petty i thought but i wont lose sleep over it.
Im sure he will be back but he really needs chill with the online hating. No need as far as im concerned.
Good music and discussion doesnt need negative attitude and poor attempts at one up manship.
Its clear that there are very mixed views on him here and ive never seen that about any other members of [ms] in all the time ive been coming on.
