i agree, there are also some top dj's that use pseudonyms.

sasha three deep dish
I get you, but they are the exceptions. For the most part it's first name/last name straight up. Why hide behind a made up name anyway??? Sasha is easier to remember, but I think Alexander (or Alex even) Coe is more memorable. Ok, bad example...Sasha's skills stand out more that anything, which is why his name is so known.

#365500Post 82 of 134

^^^ like pele  i agree with you though, they are exceptions.

i think the birth name or a close facsimile there of is best.. using a pseudonym for production.

#365577Post 83 of 134

Good thinking...real name for your DJ career, pseudonym for production. Until it starts to get silly like those that have like 3 names for producing. cough James Holden cough.

michael journey

#365629Post 85 of 134
michael journey
At last, someone is starting to think like i am. That is definitely a candidate for the final three.

#365633Post 86 of 134

Ok this is my last suggestion : Mike or Michael Trip.

The problem is that it sounds a bit like Jay Tripwire.

#365700Post 87 of 134

Menstrual Michael

#365702Post 88 of 134

Mike Hat

#365704Post 89 of 134

#365705Post 90 of 134

I suppose " Gei Garick playing a Menstrual Michael track" does have a certain ring ot it no?

#365707Post 91 of 134

#365708Post 92 of 134

Actually Sasha is short from Alexander so he doesn't count here.

And I like Mike Journey... or even Journey simply 8)

:no way:

#365765Post 95 of 134

If you end up going with your real name, I might tweak it and spell it "Story." When people that have just heard of you are googling you or otherwise trying to track you down, that's how they are likely going to try to spell it anyway. Just a thought.
Sasha is SHORT for Alexander Coe? hmmmm
it's short for Alexander or Alexandra. You may not be that familiar with this name, but in eastern europe there are many Sashas. I know a couple... The only weird thing about it is that it's the same for men and women. So I know one Sasha who is a girl... And another one who is a guy...
and Journey is already a cheesy band from the 80's
So what? :NotMe:

#365838Post 102 of 134

#365993Post 113 of 134

Re: Stage name? EDITED WITH POLL

^^ if i decide not to use my real name i certainly don`t want it to sound cheesy, hence the thread. Ideas from you guys will stear me away from the fromage frais i hope.

Re: Stage name? EDITED WITH POLL

microgroove or any spelling thereof... the term is sometimes used to describe record formats
Microgroove Discs From the late 1940s onward microgroove discs (vinyl or LP records) replaced shellac discs and only relatively recently (since about 1990) has this format been replaced by the compact disc (CD). The total number of microgroove discs in sound archives world-wide is estimated to be more than 30 million. They are made mainly of polyvinylchloride. No systematic stability problems on a great scale have arisen so far, but their stability in the long term, thinking in centuries, is unknown.
