Lately what has been your go-to or favorite libation? GO!

For me it's been various Pinot Noir's and Cabernet's... picked this up today at Whole Foods, it's a very good Cab imo... I never wake having felt like I drank any alcohol and the taste of these two wines pair well with the kind of food I normally eat (pescatarian diet).

Re: Favorite Drink

Guinness all the way for me.

I have never really enjoyed the taste of lager/beer and always only really drank it to be sociable. However I tried a Coors last time I was in America and really enjoyed the taste!

Re: Favorite Drink

Guinness mostly...

I made a great drink a couple of weeks ago, not sure if it exists already but it was pretty much all i could make with what i had. I was feeling a little rough at the time so i sat in the sun with one of these and a joint and it did the business. A long slow refreshing one.

Put a few shots (home measures of course) of your favourite spirit in a pint glass (i used vodka but think gin may work better??)

Squeeze in the juice of half a lemon.

Add crushed ice till you're about halfway up the glass, add half a pint of ginger beer.

Quick stir and drink

Re: Favorite Drink

There's a new (at least, new to me) bourbon-whiskey out called Joshua Brook that tastes eerily similar to Jack Daniels and it's half the price... not kidding. This and coke... mmmmm.

Re: Favorite Drink

Dude Reso that's really a coincidence because that is my favorite beer of the moment as well! That stuff is so drinkable and very high alcohol content. The guy from Whole Foods explained it perfectly: "1 is not enough and 2 is too many" Great choice!

Will have to try to track some of those down Simon.

Its good stuff. Hefeweizen's have been my fav style for a while now.

They have it at the bar on tap across the street where I live. I drink it so much one of the bartenders gave me the mirror he had:

Re: Favorite Drink

Don't mind the odd glass of nice wine, don't mind vodka and tonic very occasionally, but no alcoholic drink is my favourite. Cool clear water with 1/2 lemon squeezed in is my favourite summer drink :D Winter probably hot chocolate :D

Re: Favorite Drink

Wow guys, I really thought I was making it clear I was referring to alcoholic beverages by using the word "libation" No offense, but nobody cares that you enjoy cold water in a dirty glass or whatever

Re: Favorite Drink

I have a new fav white :

:LoveYou:

Boreham Wood Pinot Gris 2009

Honey, pear and rose petal, then rolling onto toasty oak and caramelised fig.

Fragrant and delicious with flavours of white peach, honey suckle, hints of nutty hazelnuts and toasty oak. Beautiful and complex with an oily and viscous mouth feel and a lovely soft, round finish.

Harvest

The 2008-09 season can only be described as almost perfect. Spring weather was warm and windy. Cooler weather prior to Christmas had some impact on flowering and fruit set, which resulted in fewer berries per bunch naturally lowering the yield per vine, whilst the long hot dry spell over the New Year helped to ward off any potential disease. This year produced very ripe and flavoursome grapes for the Pinot Gris. Harvest was a little later than expected but produced berries with 23.5 brix showing that the Awatere Valley is an ideal spot to grow aromatic wines.

Winemaking

The grapes were pressed without sulphur and the juice treated aerobically to help stabilise the colour, which has given this wine complexity that needs to be tried to be believed. Very long and slow ferment took place using Riesling yeast to help with aromatics with a slight hint of residual sugar and a smallest touch of oak.

Analysis:

Harvest date : 12th April 2009 pH 3.6 TA 5.2 grams per litre Sugar 6.3 grams per litre Alcohol 13.5%
