Bugger I ordered it from amazon.com... THey don't have it until March 8, which means I won't get it till March 24, 2005 - March 31, 2005. Anyone know of another online store this poor Australian can order it from and get it sooner?

#361611Post 5 of 68

Try amazon.co.uk

I used to work there. They will pretty much ship it within 24 hours(if its in the warehouse - bear in mind the warehouse is as big as 3 aircraft hangars so it should be in)

#361651Post 6 of 68

fucking sick, on my first listen right now

#362489Post 9 of 68

I got it last night and i listened to it 5 times already. What a great fuckin album. I got it at the same time as Hernan's new shit and i only listened to that once. Jon Lisle is the shit. Plain and simple. So is Hernan.

#362549Post 10 of 68

Can't wait till I hear it. To people who has heard it, how does it compare to Desyn Masiello's Original Series CD?

#362562Post 11 of 68

on a par with NE1

it's that good

it's an absolute masterpiece, the first track really sends a shiver down my spine. that vangelis riff is just bliss. how incredible is the steiger track. wow. and fixation happens at just the perfect moment in the CD. overall an incredible flawlessly programmed mix.

#362620Post 12 of 68

Got it yesterday, what a killer mix. Loved the first OS, this is different, a bit darker. Need to give it a few more listens to really understand it a bit better.

Going to the launch at Turnmills tomorrow, what an awesome lineup. Saw Lisle and Gerrard at Bedrock last year and they were superb. Bring it on.

Jonathan Lisle / Steve Gerrard / James Zabiela / Hybrid / Eddie Halliwell / Tim Davison / Jon O'Callaghan / Pole Folder (Live)

10.30pm - 7.30am

#362640Post 13 of 68

It's very good, not "NE magic" standard though. I need to give it a full proper headphone listen, it's that sort of cd.

As a side note, Hernan's new CD is also extremely impressive.

#362810Post 14 of 68

It?s an really cool album - it grows & grows. I like the technical aspect from this mix (5 CD player / sampler / synth.). It?s really better than the Masiello one.

#362822Post 15 of 68

that new remix of andy ling - fixation is incredible.

top track imho

it's not "NE magic" yet, my opinion is that it's going to last a long time.

the only decent track on the whole album imo.

Perhaps one of the most sacriledgious comments I've read in a while. It's a good album, but as much as it wants to be another epic like the Northern Exposure albums (right down to the timeline in the packaging), it doesnt quite achieve that, but I guess if you're a Lisle fan you will say that, just like the majority of James Zabiela fans on the interweb say their boy is perfect.

#363686Post 19 of 68

 yeah, ok to say on a par was maybe a little over the top. reminscent is probably a more apt word. my reaction to this CD is because this is now and when NE arrived i wasn't aware of it, i was listening to the likes of PWEI and Teenage Fan Club

And having made a throw away comment like that, I decided to stick the NE CDs on again. yep i was over the top.

the lisle CD is definitely one of the best mix CDs of the past couple of years though.

#366432Post 29 of 68

listening now for the first time. whatever is happening 12 or so min in is out of control

#366434Post 30 of 68

since it doesnt appear to have been posted and was mentioned in (one of) the other threads, you can download the mp3 of this mix legally at www.bedrock.uk.net for a reasonable fee

#369295Post 31 of 68

Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2

I wouldn't call that reasonable. Proton released their first cds for i think $1.99 each for a 320 kbps download. That's reasonable. I bought them!

This is for 7.49 pounds which is eqivalent to 14.3756 USD.

OR

I can wait until amazon has it, get free shipping, get all the nice packaging for 17.98 USD.

Especially when it costs them maybe 5 cents for the bandwidth / storage for my download. 7 if we count in the 2 cents they give to Mr. Lisle.

:EvilFlic: I was going to buy it.. but that is just fucktardish.

#369306Post 32 of 68

yeah, so I drunkenly just bought the download for this cd from Bedrock thinking it would be sent to me in an mp3 format so I could throw it on itunes, like Junkie XL's 7am/7pm are...and that ain't the case! FUCK! I should've waited to get the hardcopy!

Damn You SCOTCH! makes me do stupid things. :x

#369319Post 33 of 68

What a tease!

I just bought the digital download from Bedrock aswell. No cover No cuesheet No tracklist And that for the amount of 7:49 british pounds!!!

ARE YOU F**ING KIDDING ME??? :(

Bedrock-> You should take a look over to Faderecords.com. I?ve downloaded Steve Porter?s new album, and it came with all the inlays, tracklist, cuesheet, etc.

Hope Lisle?s album is good, though.

#369325Post 34 of 68

That's way to expensive for an MP3 download. I bought Lance Cashion's 2x CD on EDM for 4 bucks and Porter's Homegrown CD as well@Faderecords for a tenner and both came up with cues, covers and 256k or 320k MP3 copies...that?s the way it should be but 14 ? for an MP3 with NOTHING else is just ridiculous and hopefully not the Future....

Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2

Took this from the Bedrock site. Reading this makes me think this is going to be an amazing mix. Been a long time since someone did a live mix and made it this complex. To me it sounds like something Tenaglia would have thrown together. Though you would've needed two more decks.

The Mix Mixed live using 5 CD channels (using 3 Denon DNS-5000s via their Alpha channels), FX and a Korg Z1 synthesiser. The tracks have been de-constructed and loops re-created using different elements of each track, then mixed live. Or to put it another way you might hear a drum loop mixed over track 3 which consists of a snare from track 5 and a kick from track 7!

Jonathan approaches OS_02 with a unique perspective, an idea to create one 80 min piece. Different elements from all the tracks weave in and out of the entire mix with live keyboards played over the top.

OS_02 opens with futuristic ambient soundtrack Cosmic Baby - Tribute to Bladerunner layered with breakbeats of Relysis' mix of Habersham - Gently Shifting People and vocals of Rabbit in the Moon - Waiting for the night. In the first 15 minutes 5 tracks have weaved in and out of each other, often as 3 tracks at once.

The pace picks up with a tempo change and huge drop into the vocals on Habersham?s 4/4 beat, then back to breakbeats sustaining the futuristic mood. Things drop into live drums and live bass guitar and the Spanish vocal of the Hardkiss classic Hawke - Vivos en Muerte as the pace continues to build into the funky trippy breakbeats of Steiger - Ghost Sector.

Another tempo change up into PMT- Afro Lava Lamp going into a tribal breakbeat section as PMT is mixed continuously with Young American Primitive - Voyage to the Great Attractor. The 4/4 beat of Rabbit In The Moon?s remix of Gavin Hardkiss - See the Love Infinite comes in with vocals and the mix starts rocking into the driving vocals of Trafik - Surrender remixed by Habersham and Blake Potter.

The huge 4/4 anthem of 2005 - BAD by Matthew Dekay - comes in for the peak time of the CD and is mixed with Andy Ling ? Fixation, given a modern twist by Evolution and Hamel. Finally back to breakbeats for the finale with the massive Forme - Ignition as huge strings and guitars mellow out to the stunning climax of this exceptional, original journey.

I think its a little too early to make that kind of statement. Looking forward to hearing it though

#369770Post 37 of 68

couple more weeks then I can pick this up. Can't wait. It sucks that stuff in the states is delayed.

#369816Post 38 of 68

i heard this is a great album, im def going to pick it up when it comes out in the US :Naughty:

You got that right. Is this some sort of scam from the postal services of the world to screw money out of house music fans. It seems like all Bedrock and GU stuff always comes out at least two weeks earlier than the stuff for the US. Plus when it finally gets here it's damn hard to find. I still haven't found the Masiello cd anywhere. Though I'm not going to buy it either. I think i'd rather have this one. Amazon.com here I come!

Yeah u're right it's premature to compare stuff that was just released to an all-time classic like NE1 (which happens to be best mix cd ever imo). I got OS_2 fairly recently but after giving it a proper listen I think that one can't get closer to NE1 level than Lisle did with this comp :Bingo:

This stuff is mindblowing  easily best mix cd in years, putting to shame other releases (I didn't listen to new gu afterhours 2 tho' :P) . It's not an easily listen, but then again there so much to explore, all the bits & samples that keep popping up at unexpected places really give a magic feel to it.

OS_2 really crosses the boundary getween genres, there 's some downtempo, drum'n'base, breaks (oh yeah that was pretty obvious  ) tribal and prog, with straight guitar sounds on top. After listening to Masiello's OS_1 i felt kinda cheated because that mix offered only things I already new by heart from a bunch of livesets. In that respect OS-2 is kickstarting the "Original" Series line.

The only drawback imo is putting MDekay's "Bad" and remix of"Fixation" in it. These tunez are ok, but are too anthemic, and are/will be beaten too death by all the jockz, which is too bad for the lasting quality of Lisle's work. I'm not yet reconciled with it :|

Enough of the ranting, go buy thisas it deserves your $ (andn don't forget to share the pleasure with your neighbours by making it LOUD  )
