Question if you buy the mp3 from bedrock. Is it one big mp3 or do you d/l it by track. Thanks.

jonathan lisle original series 0.2

It's very good, not "NE magic" standard though. I need to give it a full proper headphone listen, it's that sort of cd.
As a side note, Hernan's new CD is also extremely impressive.
it's not "NE magic" yet, my opinion is that it's going to last a long time.
Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2
After listening to Masiello's OS_1 i felt kinda cheated because that mix offered only things I already new by heart from a bunch of livesets.
Enough of the ranting, go buy thisas it deserves your $ (andn don't forget to share the pleasure with your neighbours by making it LOUD  )
Masiello is in my opinion one of the best up-coming DJ's at the moment. His sound feels so refreshing to me; but I too was a little bit dissappointed with OS_1. Great mix CD, but it lacks that "magical" feel to make it a truly standout compilation. That, and having heard his EM before his OS...my expectations were huge, since Masiello's EM is my mix of 2004 :)
As for sharing with my neighbours: lol, don't worry about that :p
Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2
thanks funky monkey. nice one.
im sure u understand i had to have a 'current club' type section in there to paint the full picture of where im at, i was caning BAD at the time so thats why stuff like that is on there.
anyways, appreciate the support man. send me an email jon_lisle@hotmail.com. be cool to chat.

Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2
I'll be picking this up tomorrow. Can't wait to give it a proper listening to and see what all the hype is about. If it's anything like his live sets, it's going to be a bender! 8)
Lance's Proton mix was ridiculously cheap! Almost wish that they had charged more...it's such a great mix and worth the money.
My local music shop has a lot of independent music, but their electronic section is lacking. At least they'll special order it for me. Their prices kick ass though!
Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2
Alright so I finally listened to the entire cd front to back several times.
Nice journey, very nice. Thoughtful, complex yet simple, nicely layered songs. yum perfect for a nice long run, ride, or trip. sit back and immerse yourself.

What a pleasant surprise! I listened to only a little bit of Lance before I got the cd and that cd just blew me away...very nice mix that I continue to play every now and then. :Bingo:
Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2
I got OS_2 fairly recently but after giving it a proper listen I think that one can't get closer to NE1 level than Lisle did with this comp
Eh People whats wrong with this picture? OS2 coming close to NE1 but its meant to be an OS ie. original! I thought the mix was good and in general I like Jons stuff but I do feel it has been done before (the feel of the set, mood). Also can people please stop using Bladerunner in their mixes Digweed and Oaky were the pioneers of this and thats that....be ORIGINAL. Knowing what Jon is capable of I thought he could have come up with sometthing mind-blowing...but I am sorry to say OS2 was not for me.

I compared OS-2 to NE1 not because they sound the same, but because they have similar inputs of vision/talent/creativity and thus provide comparable level of hearing pleasure, at least to me.
Personally don't I mind using Vangelis sample in OS-2, "Tribute to Blade runner" is a perfect opener for a mix cd  it instatntly catches listener's attention U say it's not original, to me it's just a statement of inspirations that shaped the dj making his first official mix cd.
As far as the mood is concerned - well OS-2 is pretty moody without going into too much melody/trance, pretty philthy without going into banging 4/4. With all its genre-hopping Bedrock OS-2 is a consistent :!: mix, with a distincive stylistic touch of it's author :Bingo: This sport is all about that, isn't it :D
The biggest problem with this comp is that people expected some prog/break turbo overkill , while Jon Lilse served mlulti-thread and thoughtful peace of music. I feel that the qualities of a great mix cd are totally different than those of a liveset but a lot of ppl complaining about OS-2 not living up to expectations simpy don't get this fact. My ass is killing me when I read reviews putting medicore mixes over Lisle's work
Funny but if I remember correctly NE1 was also bashed by so-called critics at the time :P
Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2
^couldn't agree more. this compilation is innovative, pushing envelopes, brave. it's layering is more complex than anything else out there, and it isn't complex for the sake of it. the echoes that run through the mix work as teasers for what's coming, epilogues for what you heard and general audio lubricant for the cohesion of the mix.
Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2
Can't believe you guys are comparing this to NE1 or any of the NE comps for that matter, JL's OS2 isn't even in the same league, frankly it's mediocre at best, No direction to it whatsoever, just a passage of dull, plodding beats imo
Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2
you could have just said "its not sasha"
Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2
indeed this mix rocks da house ! 8)
Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2
a solid mix. can't even compare to the ne comps though.
Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2
nice one hos

Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2
Gotta come out on the side of Hos and Funky_Monkey on this.....OS_2 is a masterpiece and everything a CD Compilation should be...I'm not as eloquent as the others maybe, but there's so much going on in this mix, so many layers and overlays that it's hard for me to comprehend the technical skill involved in creating it.........
Obviously comparisons are premature but I for one think that it will stand the test of time......
Great, great mix.......what's next?
Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2
indeed a great cd. heard again today for the 4th or 5th time. it gets better with age. like Hos's mom.
Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2
Hi. This is the world's biggest fan of the whole NE series speaking.... This should ruffle a few feathers.
Lisle has created a masterpiece which far surpasses any of the NE discs and puts them to shame. It's a hard thing to have to say, but this mix has it all. So diverse yet so seamless, I can't even comprehend how it's done. As cliched as it is this is a real journey.
This mix will easily stand the test of time, there's no doubt about it.
Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2
Autobiography is a better comparison with NE1/2 as it uses tracks/technology from the same period.
It's also better than NE1/2.
Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2
As to the person who said that this is a wannabe Northern Exposure because they used a mix timeline just like NE did. Well, I hate to break it to you but the mix timeline is 100 times more appropriate for inclusion in Lisle's cd than in NE!

Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2
been a big fan of lisle for ages, he doesn't dispapoint, nowhere near the standard of the ne mixes though. difficult to compare them though when the ne mixes have been listened to countless times over the years.
Re: jonathan lisle original series 0.2
first half is ok
second half of the cd is GREAT. deep and twisted
