On this message board, yeah. If I go to CNN.com or anywhere else, it doesn't...?
Re: Firefox 3 RC
I´m on FF3 also, haven´t had any problems just yet!
Re: Firefox 3 RC
it looks horrible but it is faster.
Re: Firefox 3 RC
Installed the Mac optimised version with no problem. Anyone who's interested:

It's even faster

Check your default font in Options.
Re: Firefox 3 RC
can i run FF if i'm using vista? just being cautious...
Re: Firefox 3 RC
its not that great same software new interface imo
Re: Firefox 3 RC
the engine's tweaked a bit...but most new software major versions change the interface...gotta make it look "cool"
seriously though, there are some really good new features in this version with bookmarks/tags, remembering information better, etc. And it does give a pick-me-up...

I like it...Even better with the Pitchdark for FX addon. :)

Re: Firefox 3 RC
It's not the same software! I can't believe how fast the Mac-optimised version is, and I thought the 'normal' version was faster than my Mac-optimised FF2!
Re: Firefox 3 RC
the mac firefox looks awesome... the windows one resembles IE7 waaaay too much imo.
they need to release some good themes for the windows version,

Re: Firefox 3 RC
does anyone have any problems with the new ff? it works great and all but it keeps crashing out on me for no reason :(
Re: Firefox 3 RC
Eh no. What build, what platform? I was running the nightlies on the Mac, then switch to the official release, and 2 optimised versions, no crashes.
Could be your extensions??
Re: Firefox 3 RC
official release on pc ... havent got it installed on the mac yet but im sure the one on mac is much more stable
Re: Firefox 3 RC
I guess troubleshooting the extensions is your best option.

did you install it in the same directory as FF2 or did you uninstall FF2 (without uninstalling settings i.e. favs, passwords etc.) and the did a fresh install of FF3 in the same dir? I know there are huge incompatibility issues of installing FF3 in the same dir as FF2 causing both (iirc) to be unstable.
Have had NO issues whatsoever on mine. Have it running on my XP PC at work, vista PC at home and Ubuntu on my notebook and never once (to date) has it taken a shit on me.

that might be it .. did an install over ff2 ... was trying to make sure that my bookmarks doesnt get wiped
Re: Firefox 3 RC
did a clean install and it still crashes :(
Re: Firefox 3 RC
uninstall and try re-installing in a new directory
Re: Firefox 3 RC
remove the FF registry keys and file paths after uninstalling
Re: Firefox 3 RC
yep may need to do a complete overhaul on the uninstall.
As for bookmarks being saved, get the Foxmarks plugin...works like a charm
I keep adding onto my nightly builds as well; no major problems or crashes, but a couple little bugs that I'm keeping an eye on and trying to re-create fully...
and thanks for the Vista link; much better now on the theme..:)
Re: Firefox 3 RC
Talking about Fomarks, quite upset Google is gonna stop Google Browser Sync ... while Foxmarks syncs bookmarks, it doesn't sync your other data. And Weave is still too basic I think.
Re: Firefox 3 RC
Pet peeve about FF: Upon start up and FF tells you there are updates to be installed, you click Install, why do you need to click CONTINUE to continue starting up FF?! That's the dumbest one-extra-cick ever.

Next best one IMO is FEBE, which will do up to a complete Firefox profile backup. Have to get it though from the author's homepage unless it's recently been updated in the add-ons section. Doesn't go online though, so you'd need a flash drive or something to transfer the data around...:what
