Re: PS3 questions
why don't you wait for MGS4 substance for 360 (which will most likely be released around 2009 thanks to MGS4 low sales) and spend 250 on it? seriously ps3 sucks balls. Fable 2 is around the corner, Gears of War 2 won't be avaliable for the PC (confirmed by ign.com) .. extra 15 hour GTA IV DLC out in novemeber, fallout 3 with exclusive DLC on 360...better online service

i forgot, Valve support for 360 version of their games...(TEAM FORTRESS 2) the new Valve game exclusive on 360 (on consoles) farcry 2 with better visuals (better AA) on 360 (confirmed by gamespot and ign)...so.. why buy a PS3 seriously? are you in a need of a blu-ray player?
WTF are you smokin young jedi?

Re: PS3 questions
WTF are you smokin young jedi?
everything but mgs4 substance has been confirmed.
i liked better the playstation, never had a xbox..... also is that bluray thing im a movie fan, so thats why.... also wanna play final fantasy when it comes out....that game isnt sopuse to be release on xbox, and low sales on mgs4?....dont think so, it was the one that bring playstation 3 to the top....im not saying that its in first place but im sure mgs4 sold lot more consoles of ps3 than any other game...on ps3 of course....

and also because i have the money....
final fantasy XIII will be avaliable for xbox 360 same as playstation 3... reason? it costs way too much fucking money to produce games on the PS3 due its complicated 8 SPE's architechture... thats why all multiplatform games look better on xbox 360. because it takes devs time and money learn its stupid architechture, not to mention some devs hate it.. like for example VALVE its really not like MS bought square enix to release it. its a matter of development costs.

and MGS4 just helped the PS3 for a bit now the 360 is outselling the PS3 in europe and north america and in fact in japan when namco bandai released tales of vesperia. 2 million copies is really disappointing for a MGS game really. I always owned the playstation don't get me wrong but they have screwed things so much since the PSP.

Re: PS3 questions

Dude what's the point of coming to the PS3 thread to bash the PS3? Most people in the thread have already bought it and are just coming here to discuss. Besides, what does it matter to you anyway if people choose the PS3 over the 360?

Boo trolling.

Is it possible to leave my thread up to general questions and leave the nerdish discussion Xbox OMG OMG vs. PS3 RoXor RoXor out? Make a separate thread if you wanna discuss who has the bigger and better one. Then I can at least skip it because I am satisfied with my PS3 for what I need. :p

Shut up, Herman. :Anal: Bend over and let me call you mommy.

One more thing... does anyone have their PS3 connected to a 120Hz flat panel TV? Do you notice a difference? I'm asking because I am getting a new television for the bedroom soon and the two models I'm looking at have 120Hz refresh rates and from what I've seen, I really like how the movies look on them.
so if i buy a new tv it should be 120hz for better quality?.......gonna check that...
That is open for debate. It's really preference. You'll see things move a lot "smoother" but for some eyes, it seems more like a trick and very odd. When I first started checking them out, it was really "odd" but after going to the shops and checking them out more often, I am one that likes this feature. If you get a chance, hit up a shop and go watch them for a while. It's a total eye catcher at first.

Some of these systems have broken within hours of operation. The one I had, it lasted maybe five weeks and we put about 15 to 20 hours of playtime on it and then it died. Don't worry. It's not like I'd value your statements on here. I stay away from the poor neighborhoods, as well. Keep on keeping on... :Anal:

Kojima: 'Metal Gear not possible on Xbox'

27 August 2008 1:59 AM, PDT | From Digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news The creator of Metal Gear Solid series has revealed the latest title in the franchise is "probably not possible" on the Xbox 360. Hideo Kojima, who said he is regularly asked if Metal Gear Solid 4 will be released on Microsoft's console, said: "because MGS4 was optimised for the PS3, it is probably not possible". The Japanese games designer added that his future creations may be multi-format if the technology is up to it. "If (more) By David Gibbon

beanz I have a 120 Hz TV but do not have a PS3 but normal HiDef movie watching is incredibly better, BUT if you're in the market for a new tv and not in a rush to get it, I'd wait it out a few months. 200 Mhz refresh rates are on their way.

#1090335Post 176 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

I'm not in a rush as I don't "need" the new tv but have had my eye on the Samsung LN46A650 because I really like that picture and it's finally dropped to $1550 in the stores. That's a decent price for a good quality set. I haven't followed up on the 200Hz sets at all. I'd wonder just how crazy that would look.

#1090711Post 177 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

I just did some reading up on 200Hz technology and I'm not waiting around for it. That's for the foreign (outside of US) markets as they will be developing 240Hz for the US market. That makes plenty of sense as the standard in PAL region is 50Hz which goes to 100Hz and then 200Hz and here in the US it's NTSC at 60Hz, now 120Hz is available and next step will be 240Hz. I think I may finally cave in and get that Sammy 46" for the bedroom this weekend. We'll see.

And back to the original topic, my PS3s are still running strong. :CandyPop:

beanzz...i have the samsung 52 incher 7 series...jawdropping unit. Another thing about refresh rates...when playing the ps3...a brief note pops up in the left hand corner telling you the resolution and refresh rate...its always at 60 hz for the ps3...there must be a way to change it.

i traded consoles with my friend last night (x360 for ps3). Got rockband, mgs4 and gta4. Played all night with my folks and they where having more fun than me lol. Gotta get RB for xbox !!! sick game.

I don't like that the 7 series doesn't swivel and I don't need the extra features in that one so I'm going to go with a 6 series as I'm not going to mount this one on the wall. It will fit perfectly on the dresser across from our bed.

Ive got the 7 series 52 incher too... The pop up you are talking about is the information for the incoming signal not what is displayed. Unless you turn off AMP (Auto Motion Plus) its set automatically at 120Hz.

The PS3 & Blu-ray on the 750 whoops azz!!!

Beanzz with the 8 series out now you should be able to get a great deal on the 6 or 7 series.

#1093934Post 182 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

They've got the 9 series out, as well. There's now a 630, 650, 750, 850, 860 and 950. Phew. The LN46A650 had been going for $1650 in stores for several weeks and recently has gone down to $1500 so I'm sure to go for it soon. It just seems like every week I wait, it goes down another $50 and I'm in no hurry but the temptation is so strong and I am so weak.

Anyone opened the ps3 joypad yet? one of my pads R1 button is not working, i think im gonna give it a try and open this thing up see if i can fix it..any suggestions would be cool. Why do people tend to press the button so hard /? they got a finger up their pooper?:Nerves:

#1139692Post 187 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

I haven't opened one yet but I've read many articles on how people mod them. There are detailed instructions, along with photos, on how to dissect the controller and modify them. The reason that some people press buttons hard might be because they're pressure sensitive? Some games use the pressure sensitivity to determine what you want the controls to do.

Re: PS3 questions

i have opened controllers for ps2, not 3, but i had no problems cleaning it and ensambling it, try it

They are playing mostly PES 2009 and the R1 button is the dash, they think they will run faster by pressing it harder!!

If you got some links for modding the controllers that d be useful. I tried openning one of them last nite and i noticed how easier it is to de-assemble and assemble than the Ps2 ones. i just put the button in its place and it works fine, well for now i guess :D

Re: PS3 questions

I don't have any links. Just look them up through google. Trust me. There are TONS. I happened along them while reading up on other stuff. I've seen new shells, LEDs, colored buttons with different textures, etc. Interesting stuff but I've got better things to do than change the way my controller looks.

Re: PS3 questions

can i use the PS3 controller on my PC for playing fallout 3? or james bones or anyother game, i connected it but it seems that only is charging

#1140099Post 192 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

Fallout 3 was released on the Games for Windows label (Microsoft aka Xbox 360 controller) so I seriously doubt it. I tried the PS3 controller with a few other PC Games but got none of them to really work with it.

2009 is going to be another great year. They're already developing 3D games for the PS3 to go with the 3D flat screens that are out now. Should be interesting.

Re: PS3 questions

i brought my ps3 to my sister house coz she has a 50" tv, a bravia, so i tried to put the ps3 on 1080p on display settings, but it went in black..... for about 30 secs or so, anyway i have the red white yellow cable, do i need the HDMI cable to put it in that mode?...jezz.....anyway metal gear on that screen looks fucking christ i wanna live with her! freaking cable hope it doesnt cost to much...

#1141832Post 198 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

If you want to get 1080P output out of your PS3 then yes, you will need an HDMI cable. I don't know if this company ships to Mexico but if possible, I would order cables through www.monoprice.com They have great prices and that's where I get my cables, etc. Check out the site and you'll see why they're the only place to go to. Local pick-up available for those in the area. They're over in Ontario.

Here's the link to their HDMI cable section: http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240

Here's an example of a 10 ft. black HDMI cable: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024008&p_id=5136&seq=1&format=2
