Re: PS3 questions
how about a can of spraypaint and a silver sharpee
that would still make the cumulative purchase more expensive than just buying one in that color wouldn't it ?

#1000802Post 42 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

aren't limited editions usually more expensive?

#1000850Post 43 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

There was a good indicator that the PS3 is going to be available in silver here in the states soon. The DS3 has been showing up in stores in black AND silver.

Re: PS3 questions
The european version comes without HDMI cable for sure..ripoff imo to sell a HD device but only put a frigging Scart cable in the package. :what I have ordered a random HDMI cable for 7,50 Euro though...where do they cost 100? :o: Even the "official" PS3 HDMI "only" costs 20 euros here. About spare time...yes..might be. It was anyways nice to meet you folks online but by Wednesday I will be history on [ms] and lock myself in the cellar.
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Monster-HDMI-Cable-for-PlayStation3/sem/rpsm/oid/166286/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

I bought my system from Circuit City (an electronic store chain here in the states for those of you who arent familar with it) and right next to the systems they had this monster cable HDMI cable. I didnt buy it though, I just use the component cable I had for my PS2 and it works great. Other than having to run seperate audio cables I personally can't tell much difference.

TomTom

Did you have better luck the second time around?
Tom get Call of Duty 4 and let's play
Let's rather play GTA IV online when we both have it. That if a european console allows gaming with USA..this is something I am still not sure of but we will find out. :)
TomTom

Did you have better luck the second time around?
I can tell tomorrow. The 1st one worked for one day as well. The 2nd one they shipped is much more silent though so I a assume the 1st one had a fan problem directly from the start.

#1004210Post 55 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

#1004241Post 56 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

btw here today a new upgrade for PS3 came out bringing 2.20 to 2.30 and I just saw an update for GT5 as well. :D

#1004260Post 57 of 208

#1004293Post 58 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

just updated mine a couple hours ago too. new Call of Duty 4 multiplayer maps are coming out in 2-3 weeks on the playstation store too :D they were pending this store update before getting released so any time now

#1004686Post 59 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

anyone having problems getting the update? i've been trying to get it and it keeps getting an error message :(

#1004698Post 60 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

I have read that they sold 50 millions copies world wide (now I know why less and less software is produced on PC's lol) and the day the 1st update for GT5 came out it was the same situation..servers are too busy.

#1004718Post 61 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

So hearing you guys rave...I might use my government "economy stimulus" check to pick up a PS3. Would I have to be all into cars like Kamal to enjoy GT5? Is there damage effects in this version? I haven't played it since GT3, but would just drive into corners all hell bent and use other cars as a buffer.

#1004724Post 62 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

damage effects for GT5 apparently is in the works for the full release next year

#1008320Post 63 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

dunno if this was posted already..am still a noob in PS3 business but this is actually pretty cool...if you have the 40GB version you can make a fan test and clean your PS3 at the same time from dust. Turbo fan ON!

Re: PS3 questions

just bought Gran Turismo 5 on buy.com for $34.83

Re: PS3 questions

That fan test was lame. Kick you in the head.

#1009577Post 66 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

So I'm having way too much fun with GT5: Prologue. Freakin' insane and it can only get better...

#1009605Post 67 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

my copy shipped yesterday. hopefully I'll have it tomorrow. you should pm me if you're on the ps network if you want to destroy me in a race

#1009608Post 68 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

I doubt I'll destroy you. I only play a bit at a time throughout the day. I was out of town until Saturday and that's when I bought it. I already hit Class B on Sunday but I'm having too much fun with trying different cars on the tracks with the shit cars. You'll have a blast going online. It's freakin' wicked. Smoke everywhere. LMAO

#1009625Post 69 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

sounds like i should get it too .. i was holding out for the full release

#1009675Post 70 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

why does everyone think it isn't the full release

#1009700Post 71 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

Because it isn't. This is the Prologue edition. It's got six tracks and around 65 cars. They're still working on refining the physics engine as well as some aliasing issues. They wanted to at least give people a taste of things to come when the full release comes out next year. The asshats of the gaming world are saying that this game is a rip off (without even trying it) because it's being toted as a pre-release. Go and play this game and tell me what full version on another game system even comes close to what this thing offers. I dare you.

By comparison, GT4 (full-release) had over 50 tracks and well over 700 cars so we know the full version of GT5 is going to be insanely packed with goodies.

#1009728Post 72 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

that's crap. I heard people say it was a pre-release but then saw a lot of stuff saying it's the full one. now I want my 35 bucks back

#1009748Post 73 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

Are you serious? It's crap? Wow. Don't be that guy. The guy that listens to rap and walks with a limp. Be the guy that has a normal thought process. You know. The one that can conjugate verbs properly. The one where "uh" is not a major portion of his vocabulary. Xcock360 doesn't have shit on this game and with good reason. MS didn't design it.

#1009848Post 74 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

I'm not saying the game is crap. It's crap that I was tricked into buying a game thinking it was the full version. Even Microsoft gives full free versions of their OS, Office, etc before the final versions come out. I guarantee I'm still going to enjoy what I bought... it's just a shame that it's not what I thought it was.

It would be nice if they have some sort of DLC next year for those of us who bought this first version to "upgrade" for a nominal fee

#1009849Post 75 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

You don't know what Prologue means?

#1009860Post 76 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

It's a marketing term which doesn't have connotations nearly as negative as 'Demo'. games/movies/cds have sub-titles all the time. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Ratchet and Clank: Future Tools of Destruction. Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. Some would say Playing Call of Duty would cause teen violence. Should interpret Modern Warfare as a violence warning? or Future Tools of Destruction as an indicator that we'll never leave the house if we play it, which would destroy a marriage and job? At what point should I stop reading the sub-title as part of the game title and as a literal real-world reference?

#1009878Post 77 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

well 35bucks is not a bad price for half a game of that quality imo ... shops here are actually ripping ppl off at full retail price .. i guess they are hoping that all customers would be ignorant enough to think that its the full release and fork out 90-100sgd for half a game

#1009885Post 78 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

Can anybody recommend a good bluetooth headset for PS3? I also would like to know how it works. On a PC, you can either use Teamspeak or similiar software or the Game has something built in you can use for online chatting. How is this working on the PS3? Is this a general function you can use in ANY game and create friend lists to call them when you want to start the game or is this Game-specific i. e. the Game must support online chats with headsets and you have to organize your friend list for each single Game?

Re: PS3 questions

No idea, Tom. I use the Motorola H700 for my phone. :p

#1009891Post 80 of 208

Re: PS3 questions

Inside Germany, I could just use my home phone too because I have a flat rate. Playing with people from other countries could be a bit too expensive though. :p I guess I could try to install Linux and use Skype but I can't be arsed to learn the ins and outs from another OS.
