Re: Is WMC really worth it?
paying for the wmc is a waste in my opinion everyone you need to meet is @ the parties... you just need to go to the right ones
This is what I was gonna type here...

Last year I paid $275 (bought in december 2003) to get a badge for nothing... well a discount on $10 at Nerve but that was all... :x

I was there for both promote my tracks and of course for the parties... what a waste of money and time. I wanted to have one of my tracks reviewed by a board of ANRs... OMG that was like that fucking show American Idol thing... arrrggg, these guys didn't even knew that Bedrock, Hooj Choons (RIP), Release Records or Sondos where labels!!! and I had to wait 4 hours there to listen to a very, very really stupid review of my track.... BTW the track was 1st on EDM Top downloads for a couple of weeks :P

My advice, wheter you are on a bussiness mission or just for fun go to the pool side parties in the day and the clubs at night... get one of those party guide booklets and plan your tour, be prepared to see TBA booked in almost half of the gigs
if I have to ask what?

excuse me for not wanting to blow a couple grand on flying down to bourgeoisie south beach to show off my tan & prada and max & relax to some "techno".
that's just it, though. I wore sneaks and jeans everywhere. I had ZERO problem getting into any clubs. Guys got in with collarless tshirts and sneakers. Maybe southbeach is about prada and looking good, but for one week, sloppy music fiends get to take over.

WMC is one of the highlights of my year....every year. don't think.....just do it...... And I couldn't agree more about ultra.....have never actually gone....probably b/c I always hear it is just full of cracked out teenagers and the like..... but there are always ridiculous parties in South Beach the night of Ultra. Like in '03.....Danny Howells/Deep Dish at Space....or a big field in downtown Miami.....hmmmmmmmm

it isnt as difficult as it is expensive.. the rates seem to go up the closer you get. i am staying at a hotel just off of collins and lincoln (around 16th).. it isnt a big chain or a fancy hotel. but it is reasonable, comfortable, and perfect for what you need during the conference.. a place to change and maybe have a kip... and the people that work there are very cool. it is called the James Hotel, and the fact it isnt one of the big ones, they may have rooms available close to the conference. last year we stayed there too, and i believe we booked two weeks before, and had no trouble getting a room. pm me if you want the number.

as far as planning.. my suggestion is maybe pick a couple of things in advance, get tickets for those, depending on how many days you are going. then play the rest by ear. in my personal experience, it sucks being locked into something, then you get there, and hear about another party at the same time.
