just beware this party is invite only according to Cielo's website and last time he played there, it was no easy endeavor getting in there without the few presale tix that they had.

im all over this one. the last night there with sasha was on point so can't miss this one.

the easiest way to get in to this party is to get a table. i made reservations yesterday, for eight of us we need to buy two bottles at $275 a piece. way worth it.

Really would give anything to get into this event, as sadly enough im going to be missing Sasha & Dig's @ Rennaissance 'Wild In The Country' Beautiful lineup.

sasha rocked it. he played a ton of records ive never heard and really had that place grooving. actually played kind of dark for awhile, which i love. great vibe that night and a great crowd. the only record i didnt like was the justin timberlake sexy back remix he played second to last.

it was good seeing all the ms ny regulars there.

My feelings on Sasha's set were kinda mixed. His track selection was amazing. Every single track he played (while I was there) was slamming. My major complaint (and one I've made numerous times before) is that he needs to stop stretching out every single break in every single track he plays. I get it. You could edit tracks live with ableton. That doesn't mean you need to do it to every track. It'd be nice to actually hear a few tracks just as the producer or remixer had worked it...they do put in a lot of work to make them sound just right and there's no need for you to edit them all. It gets kinda boring after you stretch the break for the 5th track in a row, breaking it down to a practical stop and then building it up to a climax again. Sounds awesome when done a few times, but after a while it gets kinda old to me.

Now getting back to the actual tracks. If Sasha's tracks are the ones I think they are, now having heard them at all 3 of his small ny gigs (and funny enough, probably the only tracks he played any nights where he didn't edit the shit out of them live ;) ), we're in for a hell of time with his new album. Way more progressive and melodic tracks than I've heard from the man like in about 5 years. A vast improvement over airdrawndagger. Essentially Sasha pushing the music forward while taking a look back at what was so enjoyable in late 90s progressive.

As for rating Sasha's 3 special NYC gigs, I got to rate them:

LOVE > Boat Party > Cielo

At LOVE, I got to hear Sasha play an opening set and get the party started brilliantly for perhaps the first time (at least that I could remember, but some of those older days are a bit hazy :) ) And throwing Three in to mix with Sasha is just an awesome 1-2. Then on the boat, he did the least amount of live editing and just built a crazy wild party (being on a boat always helps :) )

Great meeting everyone out at Cielo...especially the Baltimore crew. It's always a raucous time when you guys are out and it'd been a while since I saw many of you. :Bingo:

P.S. maddlingo - I'll be bringing a muzzle next time you're out...just kidding ;) You didn't really talk my ear off...only for a few brief times which is all good. Now I'd like to see your pics and videos I saw you taking non-stop for the last few hours I was there ;)

Gotta say I was expecting a bit more of a housey set then the deep & dark stuff that was played based on where this was taking place. The crowd was great compared to what I usually experience in NYC. Music was 7 out of 10. Don't get me wrong. It was a good set, but not for Cielo, IMO. I love his twisted sets, though the right atmosphere and lighting helps as well.

Ben & Wanni- nice c n u guys again. Send me a PM next time an entire weekend of great dj's is in Manhattan. I'm always game for the trip up.
