Hi Kids,

I'm heading down to see my fav. DJ... I pray to God this is the time when he plays music I like. NO disrespect to any other types of music. I'll take pictures for those of you who care. :D

Re: Diggers @ BPM Party June 14th: T - 3 hours

Kazell started the night off right. Dark beautiful music...and then @ about 11:45ish Diggers went on and I dare to say he DESTROYED the place. He was playing hard banging music. As the night went on he did play some music that I didn't care for. BUT I think that his set @ the Mayan last night is the best I've heard out of him since his marathon set @ Avalon in NYE 2003. I'm glad I went. Pictures to follow. I've slept for 4 hours and now I have to go to work.

Re: Diggers BPM Party June 14th @ the Mayan

omg, that's exactly what I was comparing his set last night too; Avalon NYE, except I think this one was better.

Played hard from the beggining dropping some sick ass deep basslines.... No techy electro bleepy stuff last night, pure madness!!!!!! Hairs in nose are still moving, Jesus Christ!

Yes!...last night was great! From the very first track that he dropped I knew it was going to be a good night! That frist track just ripped down the middle of the place, so dark and dirty..holy shit!

Here are some pics:

Same aftershock here, Kazell did his finest and then John started to show us why he is still the best! Amazing party, awesome people, and my new friend ;-) a Japanese beauty queen made that night unforgettable....

Hope to repeat it soon sunny

undergound never dies.... :Twilo:

hell yea, that was the greatest night.

Let me recap a little.

People were showing up around 7:30 or 8:00 to avoid what was sure to be a massive line. With a guest list only entrance, it had all the makings of an admittance nightmare. So there was apparently a massive line, then about 9:00 or so, from what I heard, they just opened the doors and let everyone in, not even checking names to see if you were on the list.

I showed up at about 9:30, and the line was only like 40 people long, and it took about 5 minutes to get it. Such a relief, and a great start to the night..

I fully explored the Mayan that night, and realized they have a lot more space than I realized. There were little bars set up just everywhere you turned your head. I feel the people throwing this party had everything very much under control. There were tons of cute girls, and every was there to see the man, so as usual for a weeknight Digweed event, everyone was excited, talkative, and pretty happy.

As my friend and I sat around outside, getting some fresh air, he commented how it seemed like a house party type atmosphere. We sat up in the balcony area for a while, just chilling out and listening to some music. Every drink the bartenders made me was almost pure alchohol, no mixers. So I didn't need to have too many drinks. About 11 or so the music started to get pretty cool. I'm not sure who was spinning when for the warm up. You could just feel that everyone was looking forward to the night, and it was like everyone was stretching out before a sports event, warming up.

We went to the basement level, which I never knew existed, had another drink, read through the BPM magazine that was lying around, went upstairs, played some star wars fighting game on PS2 that was set up for a reason I will never, and don't care, to understand. I figured Digweed would go on at 12:00 or 12:30. At about 11:45, I was standing outside, but you can just see in to the dancefloor and the DJ booth. Someone remarked that Digweed was up in the booth. Then, the next thing I knew, the music sort of stoped, and and some people were clapping. I knew it was time.

I headed straight for the dancefloor, and right when I got to the middle of the lower part, it began. That first track was loud, and pounding, driving, and had that signature digweed 'funk on acid' sound that just brings a smile to my face every time. Digweed was actually smiling up in the booth, and really seemed to be enjoying himself. I was just dancing my ass off. The music was absolutely amazing. I'd have to say, it was better than the last time I saw him, which was in September of last year at the Mayan (which was amazing too). It was on par with his performance NYE 2003-2004.

At some point he played that new chab song, I'm not sure which mix it was, but it had a really long breakdown. So long that at one point my friend (who had never heard of digweed before that night) turned to me and said "you can't dance to this. Then about 4 seconds later, the kick drum came back in and everyone in the entire whole place was going crazy dancing.

Re: Diggers BPM Party June 14th @ the Mayan

Yes, it was a great night. It was fun kicking it with you Aaron, i was so trashed by the end of the night. work was not fun at all after 2.5 hours of sleep. o well, no time to catch up with a busy week in LA comming up. Diggers rocked it, a lot better than his last 2 mayan sets and his NYE downtown set. The first NYE avalon set still takes the cake, followed closely by his MNS set in Jan.

Re: Diggers BPM Party June 14th @ the Mayan

i disagree with everyone. i thought he played a lot of boring prog last night. that's the only way to describe it. boring prog. and i wasn't impressed that much with the show in march nor this past new years......3 less than good shows in LA in a row.......i dunno what's going on.

#436999Post 13 of 16

what time did it end, btw?

WOW really? You didn't like it. That is the beautiful thing about music it moves, or in you case doesn't move people in different ways. Sorry you didn't like it. I'm glad I finally liked one of his sets.

Re: Diggers BPM Party June 14th @ the Mayan

so you're saying his set was better than NYE at Giant Village? Must have been solid then.

Re: Diggers BPM Party June 14th @ the Mayan

yeah the first track was nuts. sounded like he dropped a ton of bricks on the club. he played a lot of great tracks but for me it was mostly of bunch of boring prog. i think the last time i thought he played a really good set was last october? that's the last time he was in LA last year right?
