couple of hours left. who thinks they will pull something out??? god I hope so. i miss hockey

shame the season will be cancelled if the players dont accept the cap.

#358252Post 2 of 40

The season was done for when they originally called the lockout man. I guess us hopefuls were in denial...and prayed they'd come to an agreement.

#361010Post 3 of 40

This season is done... and they're not even sure if they'll play next year or the year after

#361024Post 4 of 40

they better hurry up....Canadians are gonna start rioting soon. That's if curling doesn't keep them occupied

#361026Post 5 of 40

Re: GGGRRRR....goodbye hockey????

I'm glad it's cancelled. I don't have to see the highlights on ESPN now.

#361036Post 6 of 40

^^^^ whaever dude...hockey is a great sport, but unfortunately people dont understand it and refuse to try ....

there will be a revamped nhl with less teams next season...as long as my rangers are still playing they can do whatever they want

#361046Post 7 of 40

Nope no rangers, MSG is cancelling coverage of the local hockey teams. J/k, I hope hockey comes back next year. Notice when Baseball wasn't being played the president got involved, this time it is a sport that is not considered the national past time so gov't couldn't give a rats ass.

:(

Bob Levy interviewed Brendan Shenahan this morning and it was mentioned that if this season is canceled it pretty much means that next season is as well and could even go into a 3rd season. Oh well, such is life. I'm a HUGE hockey fan, but I'm sick of crying myself to sleep over it.

yea, crying yourself to sleep over something so moronic too. I'm mean shit...if these players love the game so much, then why won't they accept a cap...even a minor one. It's even been made public that most players could play under a cap...it's the superstars that are making WAY more than they should that don't want a cap.

#361084Post 10 of 40

i love hockey and love going to games but i don't miss it. must be cuz i'm not canadian.

wish they could get together but if they don't work this out, the league could be dead for good.

and i agree, the players should accept a salary cap. essentially, every other major sports team has one. why can't hockey?

#361089Post 11 of 40

NHL owners group said they will go with replacements if the players union doesnt play next year. they have no problem going that route b/c they will just use the contract with a cap for those players.

#361127Post 12 of 40

Re: GGGRRRR....goodbye hockey????

I'm from South Texas. What's hockey?

#361130Post 13 of 40

will they use ahl players???college players??

#361131Post 14 of 40

they should have gone with replacement players this year, I understand the owners are idiots , but the players need to understand they are not in the top 5 sports in the USA,and should be paid accordingly. I personally love hockey, but this has turned into a joke....if and when they do come back i hope the arenas are empty for the first couple of years...ticket prices will drop sharply and then just maybe i will consider going to see a game live again.

sorry..rant over

#361212Post 15 of 40

windsor, the owners arent idiots, they are actually saving money NOT playing. the players simply dont understand that people are willing to lose only so much money. they are driving the game bankrupt, and refuse to realize it. they dont have the TV contracts that baseball and football do, hell the stanley cup wasnt even on a major network last year. the funding simply isnt there.

#361222Post 16 of 40

thesightless, what i meant by the owners are idiots, is the fact that(most of them), have caused this problem by giving out huge contracts and NOT being able to run their business properly. however, I AGREE WITH U, what they are doing now is what they should be doing and that the players need to realize that the money is just not there any more.

#361232Post 17 of 40

It will only last until the broke players out vote the rich players. If every team was run like my NJ DEVILS hockey would have no problems. Its a shame too because hockey is the best sport on earth...i like baseball but it doesnt take a lot of skill to play...look at David Wells 50 pounds over wieght and one of the best pitchers in the game pathetic...

Lets go DEVILS!!!!

#361241Post 18 of 40

I like hockey!!This is a great sport...

#361243Post 19 of 40

the devils do it right. you hit the nail on the head there. team over player. look at the morons in NYC (rangers) they have the highest payroll and cant even come near the playoffs.

lets go mapleleafs.

#361248Post 20 of 40

agreed^^^(with sinister beatz)

this is a joke. the players are in the wrong in this one for sure and its pathetic. Hockey players are WAY overpaid, simply put. the game is my personal favorite but its not the favorite of the usa, which is why there isnt as much money in it as there is in other sports. Until the players realise this hockey is gone. Greedy bastards; the flames are finally good and they lockout. this is shitty. ANyone ever watch pro lacrosse??? its a very good substitute for hockey. If you like basketball i would recommend it also. 8)

#361272Post 21 of 40

I am to disgusted to even talk about this :BangHead:

#361316Post 22 of 40
If every team was run like my NJ DEVILS hockey would have no problems.
Hopefully not on the ice though :P

#361329Post 23 of 40

^^ why not on the ice? the devils are proven team.

i agree with sinisterbeatz. the devils have a good farm system and a gm that wont budge to give an extra penny out.....

yes it is the owners fault for offering ridiculus contract (it all started with federov)... so yes a cap is the solution.... re-structure the league and start from 0.

#361358Post 24 of 40
NHL owners group said they will go with replacements if the players union doesnt play next year. they have no problem going that route b/c they will just use the contract with a cap for those players.
Would any of you honestly watch another nhl game if they actually go to replacements player?

Wouldn't these games end up being just the same thing as watching the current ahl or the junior hockey leagues(WHL, OHL, QMJHL) games?

#361361Post 25 of 40

yea, hockey ticktes prices are way too expensive. S0 my question is, do the players still train now or what are they doing all this time?

#361366Post 26 of 40

playing in AHL and european leagues.

the american and canadian players have stuck with the AHL, whilst the euro players haave gone back to native areas to play there. god this is pissing me off.

gonna just join an NHL2k5 league for xbox :?

#361386Post 29 of 40

Re: GGGRRRR....goodbye hockey????

Sucks that we cant even defend the damn stanley cup....be 2 or 3 years before they can...just total bullshit

#361388Post 30 of 40

the leafs are the gayest team in the league. tie domi, aki berg, shane corson, wade belak. all whining bitches.

#361449Post 31 of 40

True...but hey, I can't remember the last time I've watched an exciting New Jersey game...plus, I was taking a piss more than anything, at NJ's style of play. Don't get your panties all tied up. Oh, and the Leafs the gayest team ever...right on!! Gotta love that Toronto hatred

Oh, and btw:

http://sports.sympatico.msn.ca/Home/ContentPosting.aspx?feedname=CP-AllSports&newsitemid=9157010

The NHLPA, in a list-minute move, offered a $52 million Salary Cap...which was turned down by the NHL.

#361681Post 33 of 40

I predict an agreement will be reached today or tomorrow and we'll have someting this year.
I predict an agreement will be reached today or tomorrow and we'll have someting this year.
I have a feeling too..

#361689Post 35 of 40

no way, it is over. it has been over since the end of the play offs last year. good news for Lightning fans, they are defending champs again.

#361997Post 36 of 40

i saw sports center tonight and they said it looks promising that they'll pick it up again... i hate hockey, but it looks promising for those who like it... good luck to the nhl. it is in shambles.

#362085Post 37 of 40

Garrick, you should give it a chance, ATL has a decent time with 2 exciting young player. ilya kuvalchuk and danny heatley...go to a game and you'll be turnd around

#362099Post 38 of 40

Fingers crossed they sort something out... still my favourite US sport

#362197Post 39 of 40

I hope they come to an agreement today....

Lets Go FLYERS

#362198Post 40 of 40
