john buccigross (who i used to hate for his surfing the net comments...now i think he is da' man).narrates an interesting and maybe duable realignment of the league.

personally i dont agree with some of the stuff : he suggests a shorter season ..season is fine the way it is no fighting .. i think it's part of the game

some stuff sounds good shootout at the end of ot (regular season) ...tying is like kissing piclemonkeys sister. a team in vegas !! .. i probably couldn't go to games, but that would rock

anyway read up and let me know what you think

a fucking shame. god i miss hockey. basketball is a terrible sport and after football is over i will have a withdrawal from sport.

#339750Post 3 of 25

I live directly across the street from mellon arena "home of the penguins" and I really miss going to games/games not going on

#339752Post 4 of 25

hockey is virtually the only sport i watch.... the way this is going we'll probably not see hockey untill next year

#339753Post 5 of 25

damn that sucks. if i lived across the street from the maple leafs i would sell my family for season tickets,

dont the players realize they are not baseball and football???

i mean, would you rather make money for 5 more years and have the league fold? or take a managable approach to the moeny and keep the league alive :?

so selfish its distgusting. the weirdest thing is that outside of the detriot, colorado, and NYRangers ownership, the owners are actually losing less money not playing the season.

#339755Post 6 of 25

i wonder what would happen if the same scenario was going on in the NBA? those guys are real money hungry primadonas ..probably the president would've been involved by now..too much money would be lost..i always though that hockey players weren't selfish at all, i guess im wrong

#339761Post 7 of 25

it's not all the majority though, its the people like forsberg who feel like they are entitled to 11 million a season when frankly, they simply are killing thier team by doing it. :( , i mean look at a team like the islanders who have NO attendance and not much cash, they cant even afford one major star.

#339775Post 8 of 25

damn you forsberg.. hehehe ..yeah that sucks... so in the buccigross plan he suggest just having one NY team..that will never happen ,the rivalry is so big

#339779Post 9 of 25

it seems to be that it is all about baseball still. Even during the football season, there is so much baseball talk. I am sure that the Red Sox are the reason why

Hockey is over, and it doesn't seem like it has afftected many people. I was watching a segment on sportscenter about the NHL players playing overseas, and how some might just stay there if the money is better and other factors.

I wonder if hockey will be back next season, would be nice to have another spirt in Boston since the C's suck

I think the NHL has done itself in worse than baseball did.. the thing is, I dont think many people really care. I live in tampa, the defending Stanley Cup winners, and there isnt really much of a buzz about it. The only story that really came out was when they got their rings, and there wasnt any ceremony.

I was actually getting into it during the last playoffs, but to be honest, I can take it or leave it.

#339918Post 11 of 25

I miss hockey more than I care to think about. My father and I just had a conversation at lunch about the fate of the NHL, etc. It pains me to the nth degree that my Lightning can't defend their cup.

Orlando Lightning? lol :?

#339949Post 13 of 25

no one cares. it's time this sport dies...

#339959Post 14 of 25

^^^ easy there fella .. i think hockey is a bandwagon sport, people only care when its cool to care

#339973Post 15 of 25

I live in Tampa as well and I am bitterly dissapointed that I cannot watch my home team defend the Stanley Cup. I had an awesome time following last years playoffs, they were pretty incredible..if you don't enjoy the sport for what it is and need huge crowds and buzz to draw you in, then id suggest something more mainstream...i personally love the fact that the lightning scene here is somewhat underground and bazarre..

and btw the NBA is absolutely putrid...once the playoffs are over for the NFL, we wont have much left to watch...

looking forward to spring training games down here

#339983Post 18 of 25

^^^^ that is very true. We have college ball, but I haven't been following much of that. Basketball has been okay. Alot of good teams in the mix and alot of bad teams. Definitely looking forward to baseball season

Was it Wanye Gretzky that said he fears the NHL could be locked out for Possibly 2 years.Thats pretty scary when you think about it.Alot of owners could be in serious trouble if that happens. Here in Boston they started opening the Fleetcenter to public skating. also they are starting up hockey leagues to play at the fleetcenter in place of the NHL.I think they should start televising the AHL games in the place of the NHL just for the simple fact that people arent showing intrest in hockey anymore. If they showed the AHL maybe more people will keep some intrest in hockey.
Orlando Lightning? lol :?
Same rednecks, different city.

#340053Post 22 of 25

I agree that it doesn't seem to be going in the players way they had hoped. And personally I do not believe any sport player should make that much money. And that also the freakin tickets should not be as high as they are.

Far as I am concerned I'm happy I don't have to see the last place...all the time Columbus Bluejackets on my tele anymore. At least for this year.

hockey has a very new fanbase.. if its not been shown people that barely got to liking it will simply forget it .. i like JB idea that the players need to market themselves more in order to increase fanbase..... any tipe of hockey on tv would be good ...say it with me "midget hockey federation"

#340180Post 24 of 25

I care.... I Heard Gary Bettmen yesterday on Mike and the Mad dog. He stated that there has not been any new developments. That the players walked out of there counteroffer in 2 hours...So he said that the owners are going to wait as long is it takes. He also stated that 20 out of the 30 team operate in the red..........I hate to say this but i think i have to agree with the owners. There is just not enough revenue to justify some of the salary........It just doesn't look good
