money doesn't buy championships. ny proves that every year. sure, they won a few, but not lately.
that pitching rotation is fucking disgusting tho, i'll give them that. damn.
if kevin brown is healthy and not a complete moron, he will be our #5.... and money helps if they use like thye used to, with pitching, not superstar hitters. the whole run we are on(still on it, playoffs every year for a decade) has been built on pitching. we stopped building the staff and we stopped winning the world series. but hey, ill take making it to the ALCS 8/10 years.
as long as they don't get beltran, i'll be somewhat happy... 8)
the yankees will eventually turn into the los angeles lakers and a fight for media attention between players... at least thats my plan/theory. i bet it starts out something like randy johnson will bone jeter's super-model girlfriend, hahahaha. ewwww.
i'll bet Jeter will bone Johnson in the tooter.
a-rod will film the whole thing and steinbrenner will give them all a raise... literally.
you guys are lame.
Go Yankees!
I am officially swearing off of baseball.
dont diss jeter. diss arod. jeter is a home grown yank, a class act and the single biggest performer in MLB outside of clemens. while his regular season stats are beaten, no one shows up and turns it up better than he does. the guy is a winner. he is the brett farve of MLB IMHO.
as a yanks fan from birth, i cant deal with AROD. he is a bullshit artist who is always trying to sell himself to corps. he is great player but not a true blue yank.
as donnie baseball once said." the people in NY dont wanna hear you, just show up, shut up, and play your heart out, then maybe you can earn thier respect."
this quote always stuck with me. and the three people who epitomized it the most were
there is more to being a yanks fan than just gunning for a ring. we value the people who play thier hearts out for us more than any other team(see jeter's stands dive vs the sox this past year. the next day, at shea stadium the whole crowd gave him an ovation at his first at bat)
Who out there doesn't hate the yankees?? But at least you can rest happy knowing that they only suck a little bit more then baseball itself.
one more thing, along with arod and his cheap swinging arms, feel free to take shots at giambi. at least sheffeild admitted bonds got him into the juice, and he came out b4 any of these clowns, he toned down his attitude, and even volunteered to play 3rd base after aaron fucking boone got hurt. i cut him some slack for that. giambi however is still lying to everyone...... and if it weren't for shitty union labor laws, his contract would be voided for lying to the team doctors... personally i would hand him his money and send him on his way.(keep the contract though, so he cant play anymore.)

See. I think this has a lot to do with why people hate the yankee's, its not just the overbloated ego of the team, its the overbloared ego of the fans. Its not just the ignorant owner and his overstuffed wallet, its the fans that idolize him and the way he conducts business.
The only thing worse then Derek Jeter is all his pole-smoking fans.
:EvilFlic:
hey man, your team would be good if your fans actually shwed up and made the team money. yanks and sox sell out every game they play. more income=more to spend.
steinbrenner has never put a penny from his own pocket into the team since the initial purchase. and he is still making money hand over fist. its been estimated that the team could sell for over 2 billion.
^ you guys also have a lot of history behind your team which directly relates to you guys having so much money. colorado, not so much. i'm wondering when someone is going to decide to salary cap baseball teams. that would be such a GOOD thing.
Hey man, I'm just telling it how it is. I don't know anyone who really likes the yankee's outside of NY, or at least the east coast.
As for me, I hate baseball, I just think the yankee's and what they represent is one of the main reason's why. That and people who can only break the records of the greats when they're hopped up on roid's. Why does everyone even ackowledge Bonds and the like when everyone can see why their able to accomplish what they do.
I'm not joking though, I remember watching it with my grandpa when i was a kid, and the only thing that woke me up was the loud "smack" of the ball hitting the catchers mit. And I don't sleep through much of anything unless I'm really tired, I'd rather watch golf even.
The more the Yankees get away from the formula that made then successful in the mid to late 90s, the less they will succeed. Back then they were scrappy underdogs who built a dynasty. They were only able to accomplish that because of the time when Steinbrenner was suspended, and they were able to build up a farm system- this is where guys like Jeter and Williams came from.
Drunk off their own success, and with the boss came back in the picture, they have resorted to the time honored, but never successful NY tradition of the super-star band-aid fix (Knicks and Rangers do this every year, lol). That works just fine for kicking the shit out of the Devil Rays and other teams with a fraction of the payroll during the regular season. However, come post season the thing that counts most is CHEMISTRY, and that's last thing this overrated bunch of mercenaries has.
With their farm system is depleted, they no longer have those quiet achievers like O?Neil and (a young) Jeter; instead they have Gay-rod et al who continue play flat when it really counts.
That said, pitching is what wins ball games, especially in a short post season series, so the RJ deal might actually bring the Yanks another championship, unfortunately.
Sincerly, Bitter Mets fan (hate me now)
2. paul o'neill- PAUL O NEILL PAUL O NEILL PAUL O NEILL-- SEE his last home game when we chanted his name the entire inning he was in the feild. i can admit i was crying my balls out watching one of my heroes walk away from the stadium for the last time. the whole place had such emotion. even the diamondbacks came out of the duggout and applauded for him.(the single best moment i have ever had at a sporting event.)
probably the best monent i ever witness at yankee stadium
Re: hey garrick and yankee haters
I love my Yanks but I heard the funniest comment about them from Rick Reiley from Sports Illustrated. He said "Rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for Brad Pitt to get laid."
finally some pitching to go with those bats, can't wait to see what johnson, pavano and mussina combo does this year, yes the yanks haven't won the ws since 2000, 4 years w/o a world series is a drought any time would like to have, but not the yanks...whats wrong with trying to win every year? since they make the most $$ in baseball, why not spend it on their players..its not like they are losing money...isn't nyc the place with the highest salaries in the nation anyway??????
can't wait to see the yanks as champs again in '05, got my season tixx...
Re: hey garrick and yankee haters
Listen Up Yankee Fans
FUCK THE YANKEES
GO BO SOX 2005
HAH. cant wait for schilling VS johnson. will be intersting to see if schilling throws at someone then... his team will be shitting when that 6-10 freak walks looking REALLY pissed off.
AND YES> PAUL O NEILL"S FAREWELL was the best sporting moment i have ever been privy to and the yankees classics broadcast of it still puts tears in my eyes.
Players Unio will never allow a salary cap. that was the road block in the last barganing agreement. Then the owners agreed on the luxrary tax to help offset. Problem is that when the large market teams give money to the small market teams . The small market teams don not invest in there product........
Anyway Go Yanks :!:
Re: hey garrick and yankee haters
the fact is that if the fans just show to the games and make the team money, then the team will have havee it to spend. people also ignore the mistique of playing in the house that ruth built, with all the history there. the owners are capped at what they can pocket percentage wise from profits as well. again, steinbrenner hass never paid a penny out of his pocket for a player, it all comes from team revenue, and the man still is making millions and millions.
