who you got??

I'm taking the Celts in 6. After handling the Heat Cavs and Magic the Celts have a really good shot at adding the Lakers to that list, enroute to banner #18. Btw the Celts are 9-2 all time when playing the Lakers in The Finals.

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

I am a Lakers fan, but I give Boston the edge, because the Lakers will have no answer for Rondo.

as I said earlier, as long as the lakers all step up and play, they'll win this series vs the celtics.

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

i dont think anyone is stopping Kobe from getting his 5th ring

#1379269Post 5 of 43

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

^ couldn't agree more. Kobe is the man and if they can STOP him they have a chance, but that's a tall order.

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

a tall order served last night....

#1379537Post 7 of 43

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

they did well for sure, the 8 three pointers from Ray Allen didn't hurt either, lol it should be a long series especially with 3 in a row in Boston now, which I never understood that, it somewhat gives the lower seed home court advantage having 3 in a row on their court. It will be interesting to see how LL respond

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

I heard Doc Rivers talking about the critics saying they are to old when they lose, but when they win, they call them very experienced. Go figure. Still looks like a good series imo.

I'm thinking it will go 7 games, would be very surprised if it doesn't, looking forward to tonights game

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

yeah i think the lakers will get at least one in boston

#1379775Post 11 of 43

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

The Lakers will defo take one in Boston, so the C's will have to win again in LA. It's gotta kill the Lakers though as Boston took one on their home floor and got NOTHING from Pierce or Garnett.

haha, F boston and ray allen

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

celtics not do so good without r allen and his barrage of 3's

#1379884Post 14 of 43

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

Story of the year for them unfortunately. Look amazing for stretches but then disapear. Credit to the Lakers though for making some solid adjustments. They won't lay down like the cavs & magic. Someone better let Pierce know the finals have started.

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

so...

  • the Zen master is 47-0 when winning game 1 of a series
  • In the 2-3-2 series format (since 1985), when the NBA Finals is tied 1-1, the winner of Game 3 has gone on to win the series on all 10 occasions -In NBA Finals history, the series has been tied 1-1 on 32 occasions. The Game 3 winner has gone on to win 28 of those 32 series (87.5 percent).

it isn't looking very promising for the Celtics

i like both teams, and this is one worthy final.

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

They battled last night, really exciting game. The spirit the celtics has last night was something to see for sure. The commentators kept saying Kobe needed to be closer to 40 pts for his team to win against the celtics... i think that's a good point. If he's the best thing since Michael Jordan, he has to to do better than that... He caused several turnovers last night as well. As much as I don't like Boston, they were the team that wanted it more last night, game 5 is not to be missed.

#1380480Post 21 of 43

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

true, Kobe can do better than in G4

in G5 if Pierce plays like in Game 4 Garnett like in Game 3 and Ray Allen like in Game 1 or 2 (where he had 8x3 pts)

they can win :D

#1380595Post 22 of 43

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

Big Baby stole the show. Celts might have a chance. Still a tall order to beat the Lakers. I thinks it's going seven.

#1381256Post 23 of 43

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

so what do you think? does Boston really have a chance in game 7?

#1381339Post 24 of 43

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

In order for Boston to have a chance, Pierce and Rondo are gonna need to have a big game each. KG is gonna have to play extra long minutes; at least 40+..which is asking a lot for him.

With Perkins out, chubby stubby Davis and Wallace are gonna have to play more. That's also asking a lot for Wallace. He cant get all fucking dramatic. Bynum will have to be able to play in order to hold off Davis with his length.

and Boston's bench is gonna have to show up. I beleive coming into or during the 3rd qtr, their bench still had 0 points.

and oh yeah.. FUCK Boston!

#1381370Post 25 of 43

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

so, yes or no? who wins game 7?

#1381383Post 26 of 43

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

for game 7: Celtics have at least 4 players who are able to score 20pts or more (KG, Ray Allen, Rondo and Pierce) they shoud have a chance but it seems Kobe gets his 5th? title

#1381440Post 27 of 43

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

LA is gonna be hard to beat at home. Kobe is the best player on the planet.... He will get his fifth ring. Interesting statistic I heard from the commentators, Derek Fisher and Kobe have been together 14 years since being drafted in 1996 and have been to the finals 7 of the last 14. That is unreal. Perkins being hurt is not going to help Boston's cause.

#1381442Post 28 of 43

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

Kobe will die on the floor before losing a game 7 at home imo... he is the closest thing to MJ we're ever going to see in our life times.. Lebron just doesn't have "it" yet, he deffo has the skill, but his mind is elsewhere

I'd be completely shocked if Boston pulled it off

#1381451Post 29 of 43

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

^^^ is not up to him

whoevers bench step up takes the ring.

there WILL BE a fight at some point, artest-pierce maybe ?

#1381460Post 30 of 43

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

I'm not sure the bench has that much to do with game 7 of the nba finals... it has more to do with each individual playing the best basketball they can play, and being mentally prepared to do whatever it takes to win as a team. It's going to come down to who wants it more tomorrow night, not who wanted it more the last game or the game before that. Since they are tied at 3 a piece, it's fees a bit odd to make judgement calls at this time. However, it appeared to me as though the Lakers were pulling some last minute magic tricks out of their hats for game 6, and so if you were to ask me to make my prediction, I would say that the Lakers are more poised at this point to defeat the Celtics, and will display a level of play similar to game 6. They will mentally and athletically wear down the Celtics thereby taking the championship.

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

^ Agreed Steve. Momentum is on the Lakers side at the moment. It will be an interesting game. I'm still taking the Lakers.

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

Lakers FTMFW!!!

#1381749Post 33 of 43

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

There you go. I didn't think Boston had much of a chance. Artest stepped it up and went from having a black eye on his resume to getting a championship. Man he played good. Like Steve said i think Kobe would die before he let the Celtics beat him at home in game seven. What a series though.

#1381776Post 34 of 43

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

Kobe proved what a team player he really is, he wasn't shooting that well (under statement, lol) and instead rebounded like an animal (15) and was solid from the free throw line (11-15), he knew his teammates would step it up.. and talk about clutch, Vujacic with those free throws at the end, and Artest too.. great game 7 from a defensive stand point

and who the fuck is this Scalabrine person, olooked like a Will Ferrell character, lmao

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

i'm happy for artest... wish he could have won with the rockets though. :)

good job lakers. hell of a finish being down thirteen in the third.

#1384996Post 37 of 43

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

The celts just didn't have it in them in the 4th. Came down to the line in the end, but the Lakers really pulled it together. I'm amazed the Celts didn't draw more fouls, they were almost non-existent.

#1385012Post 38 of 43

Re: NBA Finals Celts v Lakers

gasol man... he wasn't hitting shit from the line until it mattered. impressive focus on his behalf.
