Bummer news for Liverpool fans this weekend, the match has been postponed due to snow :(

Any Brits care to chime in and tell me how bad the snow is there?? I was looking forward to watching the new-look Liverpool with Vornonin and Dossena finally off the squad.

Re: Liverpool vs. Tottenham - postponed!

I've got a season ticket and was going .. at least I've been given plenty of notice rather than start travelling and being turned back etc. plus this frees up my Sunday.

Can't wait to be rid of Voronin at a £2m profit  or Dossena at a £2.5m loss  ... with Degan :EvilFlic:possibly on his way too it gets rid of the dead wood.

Maxi Rodriguez at £1.5m is amazing - I've been saying we should grab him for the past 2 years:

There's the possibility of Chamakh on a free contract too.

If all of the above is achieved Rafa's worked wonders.

That just leaves decisions on Babel, Riera and Kuyt. Babel is lazy and hasn't fulfilled his promise, Kuyt is just average. I'd sell the three of them in the summer and buy 1 x decent player (David Silva) and promote the young kids Pacheco + El Zhar.

Re: Liverpool vs. Tottenham - postponed!

Yeah Rafa sure catches alot of shit from the fans/media, but these moves do look promising. I am all for being rid of Babel, but I would like to see LFC at least retain Kuyt or Riera, but not both. Can't wait to see what our new footballers have to show on the field. I am just hopeful that Liverpool can get back on form and make a strong run in the second-half of the season.

That's awesome you have season tix, Simon. I have never had the pleasure of attending a match at Anfield, but I hope to in the next few years. My best mate went there for Liverpool vs. Hull City and he was blown away at how great of an experience it is.

Here in Minneapolis, I am part of a club of Liverpool supporters that gathers on Saturday and Sunday mornings at an English-inclined pub to watch the matches.

Must be pretty snowy there for this match to be called off, but that is nice you got enough of a heads-up before making the trek to the match.

The UK press has been waging a campaign against Rafa for some time.

There is e.g. a scaredness of fergie and limited criticism, + Wenger is the best manager in terms of football ... but doesn't win trophies anymore.

The uk press love to fuel a sacking rather than support people

Pardon my ignorance, Steve, but out of curiosity who do you support in the premier league?

Re: Liverpool vs. Tottenham - postponed!

The one and only.

Been to the last 5 home games, and the away game at Leeds, which incidentally, we whooped their arse even if the final score was 2 all.

Yet another Southern Manc

Man U are doing well ... beaten by Villa, Fulham and Watford and Gary Neville hanging up his boots before he's ever managed to grow a proper 'tash and Berbatov, Nani, Anderson, Hargreaves and Tosic all proving useless ... showing the real premiership manager that is hopeless with a chequebook (Seba Veron anyone ?).

Yet the UK press run scared of criticism, or he'll pull his interviews

#1320665Post 16 of 30

Re: Liverpool vs. Tottenham - postponed!

yeah, we're having a disappointing season to some extent, getting knocked out of the FA cup by Leeds wasnt exactly a banner day, but at least we're not looking at going directly into the europa league

watford? when was that?

and dont get me started on the waste of money, you're 100% right on all the names you listed, but our second team can still piss all over liverpool the way you've been playing, and until you rid yourselves of the chubby spaniard, you wont win shit!

#1320676Post 17 of 30

Re: Liverpool vs. Tottenham - postponed!

I'm not a Utd fan but i think you got to take your hat off to their consistency over the last 20 odd years

There aren't many clubs where being 2nd at Christmas by a point and still in the champions league is considered disappointing in all fairness.

#1320677Post 18 of 30

Re: Liverpool vs. Tottenham - postponed!

^^ we did beat you 2-0 at Anfield ;)

And the fat Spaniard has won European and FA Cups + 2 Spanish titles and a UEFA Cup ... not many managers have that CV !

#1320687Post 19 of 30

Re: Liverpool vs. Tottenham - postponed!

a good cv that may be, but with his squad there is no excuse for the results they've had this season.. argue that

#1320693Post 20 of 30

Re: Liverpool vs. Tottenham - postponed!

Injuries and poor individual form ... Carragher & Skyrtel collided 1st match, Agger has only just returned and Johnson has played one and been injured for the next. Torres & Gerrard have had long spells out.

There's no depth as Rafa's been given no money to spend - plus the money he's got in has been used to extend existing players contracts.

2 years of no investment in the squad has taken it's toll - our back up striker is a £1.5m young french kid. So he sells Voronin + Dossena for £1.8m and £4.5m - not forgetting the late sale of Arbeloa for £3.5m in the summer. They are giving Rafa £1.5m back for Maxi Rodriguez ... that's it.

Do the maths !

Then the press have a go because he can't compete with Chelsea, Man City and Tottenham who have spent tons these past 18 months and will do again in the transfer window !

#1320694Post 21 of 30

Re: Liverpool vs. Tottenham - postponed!

blah blah blah, we all have injuries, purchaes don't always pan out, tell me something new

it sucks but, it's a what have you for me lately league and you know it, you can't seriously be happy with the results, as i am not happy with losing to fuckin leeds ffs

i have never agreed with the money that all these clubs spend to try and "buy" a trophy, which typically ends in nowt.. and don't defend benitez, he blatantly over uses and mis manages his squad and is shite for a manger.. in my opinion

#1320953Post 22 of 30

Re: Liverpool vs. Tottenham - postponed!

Have to say Man U arent exactly setting the world alight at the moment and their squad looks average to say the least,, and even the bottom teams must fancy there chances. Think they are definatly missing Tevez more than they thought. Should have got rid of Berbaflop instead.

Also if I was a Man U fan I would be a little worried of the share issue which is being muted as there definatly, a lack of funds on the agenda which wont please old bacon face.

#1320955Post 23 of 30

Re: Liverpool vs. Tottenham - postponed!

man united always misses the striker they let go, a la Forlan, lol even the french bloke Saha is doing rather well since leaving, so had they kept Tevez then Berbatov would probably be lighting it up somewhere. These players dont forget how to score, i'm just sure it's not easy living up to those price tags and having SAF barking down your neck day in and day out

and it's no secret the Galzers are cash strapped, look at their nfl team, they barely pay the minimum salary cap and have spent the least amount of money of any nfl team over the past 5 years or so

Re: Liverpool vs. Tottenham - postponed!

The scaremongerers on Skysports News are predicting a rise in Man U's debts to £1.1bn by 2017

#1320974Post 25 of 30

Re: Liverpool vs. Tottenham - postponed!

i think the glazers are fucked until they sell off one of the two, man u or the bucs
i think the glazers are fucked until they sell off one of the two, man u or the bucs
Which is the position Liverpool find themselves in except that the Glazers have a little more capital than the two ejits @ LFC.Money is not forthcoming from anywhere not even the middle east.

What was surprisng is there was a rumour that the owners of MCFC were thinking of selling up and buying Real Madrid. Who would have been able to buy Man City with the wages etc and debt = end of club mind, although would love to see Garry Cooks face.

It is only a matter of time before a premiership club goes bankrupt and Pompey look like being the first, how the hell clubs like Bolton Fulham Blackburn manage god only knows. You certainly dont buy a club to make money thats for sure.

Also what is sad is managers seem reluctant to use youngsters Obertan from ManU and Pacheco from Liverppol look as though they are going to be sensational do they get a game no, look at the likes of Owen and Giggs around 16 when they made their first team debuts, managers havent got the time now and time is ££££££ or $$$$$$ or Euros.

and from The Guardian:

Pardon my ignorance but I had no idea the ManU's controlling interest was held by the prominent American family, the aforementioned Glazers...who also own the lowly Tampa Bay Buccaneers (an NFL football team). $10 to $15M in admin/mgmt fees with another $10M or so borrowed. Well that's great news for the Buccaneers, but not so good for ManU :what

Re: Liverpool vs. Tottenham - postponed!

As to the rumours of man citys owners selling up and buying Madrid dont believe the press, thats there job to speak shit. the Premier league are the ones that are shitting there selves as they dont want the top 4 broken up and it looks like it could if not this yr then defo next the top 4 apart from chelski need the money they get from the champions league. Plus the premier league needs afew other teams competing for the top 4 or title?
