Nope, those a**holes are annoying as hell, too, I mean, damn, go to the game and enjoy it and don't ruin the experience for others. Just saying..

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
I gotcha, it's part of the country's culture though I dont even hear the horns anymore tbh and if I actually got to go to a world cup match, I honestly don't think I would be complaining about it either, I'd be too excited about being in another country watching the biggest sporting event in the world :)

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
Yeah the Vuvu...Wuvu...whatever...the HORNS. The cosmopolitan in me thinks it's their country and their tradition, the World visits Africa and it's not vice versa but the football fan in me thinks they should just STOP that crap and get a grip ffs. It is beyond me how you can enjoy a Game while you are in the middle of monotone 130 decibel sounds which are not coming from a sound system. I so miss the chants from fans or reactions in the stadium when something happens. Hearing that pseudo-meditative sound ALL the bloody time is sometimes beyond irritating and I have ended watching 2 entire Games without any sound so far.
It's Day 5 now and I still wait for the day I get used to it but so far it doesn't look good. Yesterday evening I have watched the Italy Game via public viewing in the city and what a relief that was...to actually hear a live crowd and almost zero horns. Germans are tough anyways, here they have directly banned the horns from public viewing areas. We are good in censorship and forbidding things quickly.

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
No big sourprises so far... Really enjoying this world cup.. all the good teams are ready for whats next.. Lets see what happens with Spain tomorrow...
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
all 1st matches are like this, they'll wake up, lets see what spain bring to the table, i think it'll be the similar to brasil but hopefully with more movement on front
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
whats up with portugal!!! was quaresma even in the subs?

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
^^ boom boom
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
nice to see Gareth Barry will be back in midfield, Gerrard and Lampard have never been able to work together, that was painfully obvious against the USA.. tbh I'd be fine with fat Frank sitting on the bench until we need someone to fluff a penalty kick
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
dont give up on frank yet steve he has hard a far better season than gerrard
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
only because he was playing for Chelsea lol, seriously though I know I'm being harsh, but seriously when have they ever flourished in midfield together? I'd always take Gerrard over Lampard.. and honestly you and I both know club form doesnt always dictate international form
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
wow, no Torres in the starting 11 for Spain.. the Swiss might have a chance! lol
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
Nice, enjoyable game by Chile, who are, along with England, my 2nd most liked teams after my own country 8)
Shame they didn´t score more goals, which I believe they deserved.

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
Gerrard behind Rooney with Lampard and Barry in midfield for me. Give Gerrard a free run.
Spain are playing now, I think these guys will win it with their slick one touch passing.

Spain to raise the cup? or beat the Swiss?
Chile deffo should have won 3-0
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
Spain to win the cup. Once they get their passing and movement game going, which is usually all the time, I can't see anyone getting near them.

They´re my dark horses for this WC.
It´s a squad that I´ve been following for 3 years ever since they beat Portugal in an under-21 World Cup, and many of those players are now in this team.
Look out for Matias Fernandez, who plays for my team (Sporting Lisbon), Valdivia, Islas and Alexis Sanchez.
Also, one of my favorite coaches, Marcelo Bielsa, is leading them.

I have to agree, but I hope they don't.. they are one of the few countries like Brazil that don't really make adjustments and just go about their business, stop us if you can mentality.. where the hell is the Spain of old, perennial under acheivers, lol

"but it'll never be popular here" lol
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
From what I have seen over the last 10 years it is becoming more and more popular with the Americans. It surprises me they are not interested in the global market the football can provide. I have travelled quite a lot over my life and I could say that everywhere I have gone there have been Manchester United or Arsenal shirts. Keeerching!
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
Swiss goal!!!
Spain...

it is VERY popular over here, millions of kids playing, leagues all over the place, just the hard headed people that don't get it are the ones with the biggest mouths.. like anything, until they win something major "no one" will care.. look at basketball, when the USA stopped destroying people with their dream team, interest cearly dropped off until they started winning again, lol
Swiss goal!!!
Spain...
wow, could have been a hand ball had they not scored too, Pique looked to have handled the ball when he went down
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
Theres no way Spain is loosing this match!! They deserves not only the draw but the victory already
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
THAT was a fuckin rocket off the cross bar! by all means they should win, but I can't say the Swiss deserve to lose though
so.. what's the more surprising result? Spain 1-1 Switzerland (if Spain get the goal, which by all means they should) or England 1-1 USA
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
holy crap!!!
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
Oh my... Swiss was really close to score again... very decent game for them
Steve, imo is more sourprising Spanish result... They are doing almost everything they can to win this match... England can play better and they prolly will in the next game
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
this is a great match for a neutral fan to watch
I agree, Spain in a draw would be a surprise, Spain losing to a country they've never lost to in 18 meetings would be a
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
man, if Spain lose, that Chile result earlier is MASSIVE
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
5 MINUTES! Where the hell did that come from?
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
Pretty terrible result for Spain... If they dont win the group, theres a big chance they will play against Brazil on a hipothetical next phase...
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
at this point there is no guarantee Spain even get out of the group.. 8% of the countries that lose their first match make it to the knock out stage the way the Swiss played today you'd fancy them to get a result out of the next two matches and possibly end up with at least 7 points, Chile finished second in CONMEBOL so they're a solid squad too.. it's not an easy road for the Eurpoean champions
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
And it´s over! Spain lost!
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
Holy Swiss Cheese batman!
