Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

he scored against England in a meaningless match 17 years ago, lol

I love how the other "non espn" guest whoever it is always looks at him in disbelief as if to say, are these words really coming out of this assholes mouth?

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

Well sports stars sometimes don't make the best commentators ie Charles Barkley & Terry Bradshaw.
. Those free kicks by Japan were badass!
As much as I did not want Japan to win, I couldn't agree more.

Charles Barkley is great on TNT, he's honest, insightful and funny Alexi Lalas is hardly a star, lol

Charles Barkley rambles like a drunk although I agree he is funny at times and Alexi is one of the only members of the US soccer team I remember as a kid besides Cobi Jones. Great defender from what I can recall (or maybe it was the hair and goatee) ;)

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

I guess I just like Charles because he doesnt care about being PC, he just speaks his mind

He, Lalas, wasn't great, solid, but sllllllloooooooooooooowwwwwwwwww never had a problem with him until I started hearing his lack of knowledge of the global game.. John Harkes is another one, adds absolutely nothing to the commentary, is deathly afraid of dead air.. someone needs to tell him he doesn't have to keep talking for the whole 90 minutes, we don't care what you did 20 years ago.. similar to the tools that do Sunday night baseball on ESPN, love to hear themselves talk and stroke their own egos, lol

oh, just great!

World Cup 2010: England and Germany get red-card happy referee The England and Germany players who face each other in Bloemfontein on Sunday will have to tread with some caution after it was announced today that the referee in charge of the last-16 tie is known for his high red-card rate. Jorge Larrionda, of Uruguay, has dismissed a player in an incredible 70% of games he has refereed since making his international debut as an official in 1999. At the last World Cup, the 42-year-old send off three players in the group match between Italy and the USA.

#1386446Post 491 of 819

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

Dont worry Steve, Larrionda normally is a good referee...

Cmon Ivory Coast!!! Only 8 goals left!!!!

Did nobody dispute that? I did not hear a peep about it.

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

no, it wouldn't have been reveresed as Kaka did TOUCH the player, but the player fell down like he was shot in the face, lol

#1386485Post 497 of 819

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

plus Brazil is already through to the next round and will more than likely top the group, no use ruffling feathers I guess

Almost felt sleep with the game... Boring as hell!!

Pls Spain and Chile do something interesting

#1386505Post 500 of 819

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

I would imagine it will be more intersting, Spain has to win.. if they don't and the Swiss do they're out, they're both on 3 points

Well they could get through on a draw if the Swiss lose or tie

#1386507Post 501 of 819

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

Shitty boring game.

Didn´t expect much more, to be honest.

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

^^What? Between Brazil and Portugal? Are you ok, do you need a lay down?

#1386510Post 503 of 819

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

you thought it was good? the second half was terribly boring mate, a couple of spurts here and there, but it was obvious they were playing just to get the match over with

#1386512Post 504 of 819

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

yeah, that game blew ballsacks

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
^^What? Between Brazil and Portugal? Are you ok, do you need a lay down?
It´s all very pretty in theory, but the fact is that this is the most boring Brazil team in years, and we aren´t much better, both sides fielded bench players, too. Portugal has a good starting eleven but our allternatives suck balls.

Add to that the fact that Brazil just needed a draw and our coach is a pussy who doesn´t really believe we can beat them, and it wasn´t really much of a surprise. Not in this context, at least, because if this were in a later stage of the competition... well that would be a lot different, I´m sure.

I didn't see the game at all, I was commenting on what Kinetic said. He didn't expect anything else other than a boring game between Brazil and Portugal. When Brazil play the world expects.. period. I admit they are not playing with the flare they have done over the years and yes they did only need a point but the world still expects.

Geez that Villa goal from 50 yards out was sweet. What was the keeper thinking coming out that far?

And any other year I would agree with you, but honestly, not this time ;)

I mean come on, at least have a defender back there to cover your ass! That and he should have just booted the damn thing out of bounds, not slide tackle it. Whoops! Great goal by Spain.

that was a great goal too, that's not easy to do, even in an empty net.. tendency would be to hit it too hard and launch into the stands

very silly on the keepers part as mikenytola said

Damn damn damn. Ghana played a great game and did well at controlling the ball a lot. Damn that goal keeper for getting to the ball during all those corners!

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

The goalkeeper of the tournament so far knocked the USA out. He is going to be signed up by some big team some time soon.
