Nice showing Detroit fan. Ben Wallace caused that whole thing, but those dumbass fans made it into to what in turned into. Not one of those pussies would have throw a single drink or beer on their own. Way to let mob mentality take over.

Fucking Disgraceful.

#304468Post 2 of 62

That's fucking crazy. Hence the reason I refuse to watch baseketball anymore. The sport completely lacks any type of class these days. And did you hear Bill Walton?

"The NBA is about hope and peace."

What the fuck is that guy smoking?

#304472Post 3 of 62

I mean...he did follow The Grateful Dead for years.

But yeah...that was definetly the lamest thing I've ever seen. Imagine parents explaining that to their kids. There is no place for that kinda shit in sports.

That guy who threw the drink at Artest did get his ass deservedly kicked though. He probably shit his pants when he saw him jump over the bench. I'll bet he didn't think he was the shit when Artest jacked him upside his jaw.

that's why detroit is just one piece of shit city. nice way to go with the sucker punches. i hate the pistons and i hate detroit.

#304510Post 6 of 62

Detroit definitely lived up to its ghetto ass reputation tonight.

That guy that stepped on the court is the biggest idiot I've ever seen. He's like 5' 8", 210 lbs., and he straight steps up to 6' 7", 245 lbs. Ron Artest. If you are that stupid and/or drunk, you deserve everything that follows. Artest about broke his jaw, right before Jermaine O'Neal put his lights out.

To me, that has to be one of the boldest things I have ever seen a fan do at a sporting event, period...a spectator has no business on the field of play. That guy just did not give a fuck.

He paid the price for his stupidity, but what was he thinking in the first place??!!!!

#304513Post 7 of 62

80% of NBA players have some sort of criminal record. do you find it that amazing that the fans act like idiots too?

#304556Post 8 of 62
but what was he thinking in the first place??!!!!
Let me preface it by saying that I'm not defending the fan's actions. He was caught up in the moment, his adrenaline was pumping. There's no telling if he was wrongly hit in the stands or whether he saw a child get injured by Artest or O'Neal jumping up into the crowd.

I completely understand Wallace going at Artest; again I'm not condoning it, but I understand it. Then for Artest to be laying there obvioulsy not looking at the crowd and jump up to beat the shit out of some dude after he gets a cup thrown on him is completely uncalled for. There was no way he could know who threw that cup. A good portion of these players have grown up with this 'way of life'. Like Jib says, many of them already have criminal records and we should be thankful we haven't seen anything like this until now.

This is not the first time fans and athletes have gone at it but before labeling an entire city as ghetto (there are quite a few nice places in Detroit and its suburbs) or fans as stupid I will await an investigation. We are only able to view whatever angles were chosen to be shown to us and it's impossible for any of us to come to any rational conclusions about the exact events as they took place.

Re: not the way to end an NBA game...

that was fucking great, i'm sorry to say it but those pacer players were defending themselves especially artest. he wasn't even doing anything then a beer gets thrown on him. for those that disagree ask yourself what would you do if you were walking around in a club and some dickless bastard throws a drink on you that is called assualt so that bastard threw the first punch, its open game from there. we will see what happens from here.

i got home at around 2"30am.. turned on espn.. and caught the high.. errrr. low lights of this. it was surreal watching it, and they kept replaying. and of course, yes wallace over reacted, but look at the idiot in the middle of it. None other than Ron Artest. lol

#304572Post 11 of 62

like i said before the dude who got clocked twice was great

spank you ska for showing me the light

it doesn't matter if the fans spit on you.. they are the boss... you can't piss them off.. Luckily this happened in detroit where the fans don't care about violence.. I am a die hard pistons fan.. Indiana's team should be done for the year with multiple year suspensions.. Hope none of you picked indy this year because they are done with 3 of there 5 starters suspended for the season..

#304587Post 16 of 62

I don't like basketball anyway, but what happen with that fan?, not everyone knows what happen in that game.

#304588Post 17 of 62

That fan got knocked the fuck out... Well the one that was stupid enough to walk on the court and act like he was bad.

#304590Post 18 of 62

Re: not the way to end an NBA game...

the guy who threw the first cup was pissed b/c you can only buy the new cd from Artest (aka Paqman) at truwarier.com and his webservice is down...

words of wisdom from the Paqman himself:

?A TruWarier now is any individual with the ultimate determination to accomplish anything. It also means to set your mind in a positive mode and crush negative influences.?

Re: not the way to end an NBA game...

yeah i saw this last night...first time i have ever seen a basketball game called for a fight

i do not agree with what the fans did, but i have absolutley no respect for those players...they are a bunch of spoiled babies....all artest had to do was go and get security to apprehend the guy and he would have been tossed out...to go out there and attack the fans is ridiculous

the nba is so ridiculous...it has no redeeming qualities anymore...you cant blame those kids for being so stupid though, they've been handed so many luxuries and lacked so much in education

i cant stand the nba...sad because i love basketball and i miss it

Re: not the way to end an NBA game...

Doesn't matter if the fans throw drinks at you --- NBA players should stay out of the stands and fans off the court. The analogy of getting a beer or drink thrown at you in a club isn't good. That's an NBA game that's being shown on national TV not some night club.

Artest didn't have to take action into his own hands. He should've let the security deal with the fan by throwing him out and/or arresting him. And I don't feel sorry for that fan that came on the court either. Once the melee started, he should've let the arena. Shame on them all.

#304702Post 21 of 62

Re: not the way to end an NBA game...

I agree the players definitely should shown more restraint but the fans are stupid for starting it and continuing it. Did you see the video when they were escorting the Pacers off the court? The idiots were still throwing beer and all kinds of shit on the players and the guards. Morons.

I saw the match live... I think, if my mind doesn't betray me, that a player, by mistake, beats off a bodyguard who was trying to protect him. LOL! That was sooo funny!

Re: not the way to end an NBA game...

Everytime I see it I notice something new. The guy that Artest ends up tackling in the seats is the wrong guy. You can see him try to point out the guy who threw the drink right before Artest grabbed him. And the guy who Jermain O'neal clocks is a different guy that the one who steps to Artest. That means 2 idiots were brave enough to try to take on people almost twice their size. Nice reasoning skills. :?

#304781Post 26 of 62

and then clemson and so. carolina try and top it today :P

fuck it, i love seeing that shit. if some fan injects themselves in the fight, its only proper they get what's coming to 'em. especially basketball where each guy thinks he has something to prove to the world that he's a hard motherfucker.

at least the college football game fight, they were taking out security officers instead of fans :)

most of the valid points have already been made, but being from detroit it's truely embarassing that this had to happen. The pistons made such a big deal about there fans (as most do) after winning the title, and the fans completly took that championship away from this team. They will be rememberd more for this then they will for beating the lakers 4-0.

the blame is so widespread its rediculous, the foul wasn't flagrant - but it was cheap - ben took it over board - u need to understand that ben pushing artest didn't all of sudden create tension, it just escalated it too far- this is a bitter rivarly and tensions are high even in the midst of a schooling from the pacers in detroits home court (another pride point the pistons dwell on - or used to). The fan shouldn't of thrown a beer, artest went after the WRONG guy. So in that case, it's very easy to say how he should never of set foot in the stands. The players are getting paid millions and millions to be in that area and play ball, if a beer gets thrown at you, pull you wallet out and see who's laughing then. Ska made the point - the NBA has NO class.

i read an article on how david stern plans to use models from FIFA and how they have dealt with incidents of this nature. "In that case both teams should be worried, very worried."

That should be brought into every dull netball game. It certainly spiced it up a bit. Fir those of you that haven`t seen it here it is.

#304960Post 32 of 62

i've just read in espn latinamerica portal that they would be given 30 games suspension

2 months off.. not much.. less than a serious injury... i wouldn't let them play until next season

#304967Post 33 of 62

Artest - season

Jackson - 30 games

O'neal - 25 games

Ben Wallace - 6 GAMES!!!???

The message this sends - Go ahead and cause the whole incident. No matter what happens because of your actions you will be punished the least.

Boy, did they fuck this one up. The Pacers get the worst of it becasue they involved the fans. Of course the fans really involved themselves, but they're not going to do anyhthing to push away their money.

This is a classic lesson in cause and reaction...bottom line. Ben Wallace doesn't completly overreact...this whole thing never happens. The fan doesn't throw the drink...Artest never goes into the stands. It's that simple. Yet Ben Wallace get the least amount of suspension???? Ummm...yeah, way to go Stern.

#304973Post 34 of 62

Re: not the way to end an NBA game...

i probably react like they did, i think those pussy shitty fans have to be the ones who recieve the punishment, in fact i hope jackson and artest hurted some pussy fans.

#305023Post 35 of 62

did you see the suspensions given to the pacers vs the pistons? that is complete and utter bullshit seeming as how dumb ape-man ben wallace started the whole fucking thing. the nba is a joke and so is their commisioner whos somehow thinks the nba will be stronger after this ugly incident. i can even go so far as to understand booting artest for the season, but suspending jackson and oneal for as long as they are suspended is fucking bullshit. are they supposed to let those dumb fucking shithead fans beat their ass while they sit back and say "hit me please. i don't want to ge fined." what a stupid league. i'm not sure how the league expects to rebound after a fight like that. fucking stupid. the nba sucks.

i feel sorry for the people of detroit that were not involved. i can not believe they boast to have the best fans in the world when in fact that was about the shittiest display of fanatacism in the face of sports (minus those beer throwing cleveland fans :))

#305024Post 36 of 62

btw, reggie miller got 1 game suspended too

#305025Post 37 of 62

did he really? that boney mother fucker deserves it! 8)

about time i see skinny people defending their grounds, haha.

#305030Post 38 of 62

I think some people should get arrested too; the violence we've seen on that match was an out-of-the-game factor.

Are there any justice proceedments going on? A basketball court doesn't (and should never) allow you to beat up a guy without paying for your crime... I think justice should say something about that.

If I beat up a guy in USA, I'll be in jail in a matter of hours... that's for sure. Inside or outside the court, is the same thing.

Agree on all counts.

I was waiting for someone to bring up the Cleveland incident. That was against my Jags. Also a low point in the history of a city's fans.

#305161Post 40 of 62

Im impressed with the fan that threw the cup of beer... It takes skill to hit someone in the face standing 10 stands up with a cup full of liquid.

I think that Artest just went for the guy with the biggest smile on their face. Did you see how is expression changed when he saw artest come up to him
