crazy finish, Timo couldn't nurse the car home on slicks in the rain, Hamilton passes and clinches as Massa's crew and family celebrate what they thought was their championship, LOL

Massa deserved the championship more. He was the better driver this year - made less mistakes and was faster. I'm so impressed by how he has come along as a driver - it seems like only yesterday that he was the erratic, reactive hot head - now he is cool calm and collected... very Schumacheresqe this year. Pity his team failed him so many times this year. Engine failure @ Australia. Engine failure @ Hungary. Abysmal car whenever it rained. Utterly stupid error in pitlane @ Shanghai (although I cant complain as I'm an Alonso fan haha).
On deservedness I think that this years Constructors and Drivers titles are the wrong way around - McLaren should have won the constructors, and Massa should have won the drivers.
GREAT race though! Exciting right down until the last corner! This reminds me why I love F1 and Motorsport so much.

what has impressed me the most is Trulli. that guy came out of nowhere and took it to Ferrari and McLaren really hard. he is going to be huge next year if he has a good car with him.

I may have agreed ... but the for ridiculous docking of points, which I assume was aimed at extending interest upto the final race.
It'd be nice if Massa wins it next year.

What many people without a racing background don't understand though, is that Hamilton deserved to have all those points docked/penalties given, as in each case he or the team committed some kind of offense that was worthy of them. There is a lot of bias in the media though that seems to think that Hamilton should be able to get away with doing anything on the track - most likely because the majority of the English speaking press is English.

Sorry but was this the first race you have seen? Trulli is an F1 veteran having raced since Australia in 1997 - to date he has driven for Toyota, Renault, Jordan, Prost and Minardi.
He's a great one lapper but even when he has had a fairly decent car has been unable to do anything with it. In his career to date he has achieved only one win and has scored about the same amount of points in all those years, that Lewis has scored in the last two.

In part you are right - however what you omit is that with most 'infringement of the rules' in F1 there are a number of 'punishments' available for the stewards to hand out - it seems objectively speaking (I like Hamilton but I'm a Button and Honda man) that Lewis's punishments were always the harshest available. :roll: :roll: :roll:

Well not really, the harshest available would have been a lifetime ban haha - I'm sure if the FIA wanted to ban Hamilton they would be able to find some kind of loophole to do it with.
Really though, at Canada it was VERY unsafe and he deserved his grid penalty for the next race. Belgium, if it wasn't at the end of the race he would have got a drive through penalty which is about 25 seconds anyway. I can't remember any other penalties he got? I think that was the only 2?

vettel has done ALOT in the past couple of races with redbull.

Yeah Hamilton did deserve his penalties but the stewards were so frikkin lenient to Ferrari and fact is Hamilton has the most points in the last 2 seasons and totally deserves this championship

yeah true Massa should have got a drive through for his unsafe release in Valencia.
Still though, if you gave massa a 25 second penalty (equivalent of a drive through), it would have handed hamilton 2 extra points, and deducted 2 points from massa (he would have finished in second - Kubica was 37 seconds behind). So Hamilton would have been on 100 points and Massa on 95. So then its equal. But luck wise, they have to be equal too. So even if you just include his 1 DNF at Hungaroring, that would boost Massa up to 105 points and hand him the World Championship, and give him 7 wins over Hamiltons 5.
As for Hamilton being the highest scoring driver over two years, that may be true on paper but it wasnt exactly an equal battle - Alonso switched teams and had a car that was much slower then the ferraris and mclarens. You would have heard it before, but if the championship was only the last 6 races this year, Alonso would have won it easily.
But in the end of the day, it doesn't matter about if buts and maybes... Hamilton still won the championship so congrats to him! heres hoping that Alonso or Massa can dominate him in 2009!

yeah this is some bullshit that us fans have to deal with when for the longest time there was a F1 race in both Canada and America, and now they are both gone and given to Dubai and Singapore and Bahrain where the temps are so hot it makes it hard for the drivers of those cars.
I still can't believe they took the US GP away.

i can see them taking the US GP away simply because F1 is not highly popular in the States. americans typically follow nascar (pussy racing) and indy more so than F1.
i dont understand why they took it away from Canada though... =\
