i like Curt, but man, i couldn't stand his wife.

there was a show on AM radio monday mornings called MondayMorningQuarterback, and Kurt would call in every monday to talk about sunday's game. Brenda called in once, when Kurt had lost several in a row, was fumbling around, getting sacked, and the STL fans were giving it to him. Brenda opened her fat mouth about Martz, the team, yada yada yada. Nothing was the same for them in this town after that.

as per the stros cards series...

i really don't care who we face next, Clemens is going to be tough either way you look at it. But he is human, and can get lit the fuck up (re: all star game.) Here's hoping he melts down.

So tell us how you really feel.

I have to admit after watching both games. I've never seen 4 teams as hungry as these guys are. Just awesome.Yes, it hurt to watch my squad lose the last 2 but big props to the Red Sox after saturdays massacre.

Re: NLCS and a little ALCS

Oh yeah forgot to say. Hey garrick your boy Lidge is NASTY!!!!!

#282446Post 45 of 87

that slider is unbelieveable... you add his 97mph fastball and its definitely "lights out lidge". its not over yet though, i'm a firm believer in "jenks"ing a team, so my mouth is shut until the end of the series. :)

:P (edit to attempt to "jinx" from Jenks) ...THE STROS ARE GOING TO WIN WORLD SERIES, WE'RE THE BEST TEAM IN ALL THE LAND!!!!! YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST, FROM ME, GARRICK!!!

#282448Post 46 of 87

whats crazy to me is, if the sox could have remotely slowed the yankees down in games 1 and 3... they would be in the world series. i mean 7 & 8 runs would win you most games.. lol

#282453Post 47 of 87

nice one Garrick, i hope the jinx works. :Bingo:

#282462Post 48 of 87

^ oh well that's it... we're gonna lose now. i should have kept my big mouth shut :)

#282495Post 49 of 87

wow what a fucking game between stros and cards.. About time Kent did something.. For a while there he was the weakest link.. Clemens will win it for them.. The yanks and starting to shit the bed a bit.. Can't let these guys back in because Manny hasn't even got it going yet.. If he gets going the yanks might find themselves in a whole lot of troule... GO Beltran MVP!!

#282496Post 50 of 87

Re: NLCS and a little ALCS

Carlos Moletran :MadNow:

#282518Post 51 of 87

oh come on.. you have to respect him as a player.. I mean he is 1000 times better then Jeter and when you put it on fox and listen to the commentators they are still talking about that play against Oakland at home plate.. Jeter is maybe the 26th best player in the league.. Right now i would have to say Beltran is #1 and then Pujols.. Then Lidge.. Damn that guy is unhittable.. a 97 mph fastball with a cutter and a slider.. nasty!!

#282522Post 52 of 87

Pujols #1, Beltran #2, pitchers are in a different league, they don't play every day.

i only take pujols as #1 because of his stats his first 4 years. if i were building a franchise around a player, it would be pujols. that's not taking away anything from Moletran, because that dude is EnFuego!! already broke bonds playoff homerun stats, in about half as many games too. That's disgusting!! And Moletran's defense is stellar!

Pujols made a sick play at frist base last night too. But overall, Pujols numbers just dominate.

Best series i've seen in a long time.

Jeter, pfft.

He doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Pujols and Beltran.

#282529Post 53 of 87

Thank god somone agrees with me about Jeter.. That motherfucker is horrible.. That is true about Pujols his numbers are fantastic.. How old is he?? Only like 24 isn't he.. He will be the highest paid player when his contract is up foresure!!

#282534Post 54 of 87

All I know, Ortiz is a yankee killer. If the sox are going to win, he better keep playing the way he is and everyone else needs to get there stuff in gear. As for the NCLS, no offense Jenks but the Cards have been sucking it up the last three games. I hope the cards win & they are home the last two games. So we will see.

#282537Post 55 of 87
Jeter is maybe the 26th best player in the league..
give credit where credit is due... i think jeter's better than that, but absolutely nowhere close to pujols. that dude scares me to death. 6'5", 250 lbs of muscle and he fucking looks like a snake just waiting to strike at the plate. the way he stands at the plate and stares down the pitcher is just.... scary. demented even. i think he sold his soul to satan.

fyi, pujols' contract is up at the end of next year i think. cards need to hang on to him.

#282539Post 56 of 87
How old is he?? Only like 24 isn't he.. He will be the highest paid player when his contract is up foresure!!
he's supposedly in his mid 20's yes, but you know those Dominicans, when they're born, their birth records are destroyed. lol. He's losing his hair ffs. I'm calling bullshit on 24. lol. Regardless, he's a machine! And the cards have him for 7 years 100 mil give or take. We paid up. He said he wants to retire a card, so we'll see. Finally someone not about the money grubbing, and the ownership more than took care of him.
As for the NCLS, no offense Jenks but the Cards have been sucking it up the last three games.
Wouldn't call it sucking it up. First game, yes that stunk.

Shit last nights game both starting pitchers threw a 1 hit shutout! Two quality teams, we can't just expect to roll over them like we did everyone else this year. Back to STL is a different story. Well see, and i'm going to be drinking like a mad russian to deal with the stress.

#282540Post 57 of 87

^^ that is true.. But honestly Jeter isn't that good.. His fielding is Questionable and his hitting the last two years has been questionable.. Back to Pujols that guy looks like he punishes the ball when he connects.. Doesn't it?? Like a beast holding a toothpick hitting a golfball!! They should call him the Punisher. Punishes pitchers for pitchingg..

#282543Post 58 of 87
fyi, pujols' contract is up at the end of next year i think. cards need to hang on to him.
nope. he got @ 7 years 100 million, give or take a few cents.

the two we stand to lose are Renteria (who we should keep) and Matt Morris (who i hope they get rid of.)

#282547Post 59 of 87

i told u jenks that it would come to pitching.. i don't think you guys have what it takes to beat the astros twice.. maybe.. at least not with the way beltran is hitting..you guys in the off season should look for guys like Josh Beckett.. A big name pitcher like what clemens is doing tomorrow.. that is the only thing you guys are missing from becoming a super power in baseball.. Hope there is still money in the pot..

#282548Post 60 of 87

^you also said we wouldn't make it out of the first round. So, we'll see.

i realize our pitching is suspect. Honestly tho, if our bullpen were pitching the way it had down the stretch, we would be better off than we are now.

Woody Williams is a fucking GAMER!! He doesn't have the best stuff, but he's a winner. We're missing Kline out of the pen for sure. And i hope Tavares never plays again.

#282551Post 61 of 87

wow, i thought i heard them talking about pujols' contract last night... maybe that was rolen they were talking about? somenoe's contract is up next year, i guess i wasn't paying close attention.

#282553Post 62 of 87

Beltran's the one with the contract up, and I seriously doubt the astros will be able to afford the Bonds-type numbers he's going to be looking for.

And you know what that means...The darkness whose name we dare not speak is going to descend upon like a plague and try to spirit him away to New York.

#282555Post 63 of 87

Rolen is signed long term too

We've got Edmonds for 2 more, Pujols for 7, and Rolen for at least 4. Walker, lmao, Colorado is paying 8 mil of his salary next year for us. YAY! They want to sign Renteria. Morris is a salary we can dump and put towards another pitcher. Reggie, 1 yr, Womack, 1 yr.

Beltran is either going to be a Yank or a Dodger imo.

#282561Post 64 of 87

HE'LL STAY WITH THE ASTROS :)

wishful thinking... the astros need to win this year to have any chance in the near future. we stand to lose beltran, bagwell, biggio, kent and clemens. talk about expiring your team.

i will lose any respect for beltran if he goes to new york after winning a world championship in houston (assuming they win). i already have no respect for the yankees and their 5 billion dollar payroll.

HAHAHAHAH... THE METS REALLY SUCK!!! how could you be so bad, yet pay that much? thats bad management there.

oakland actually did REALLY well for their salary cap.

#282567Post 67 of 87

check out the Twins nearly getting it done for a third of the Yanks salary!

#282569Post 68 of 87

championships cannot be bought. this year will be no different!

garrick anxiously awaits a reply from jibs.

#282572Post 69 of 87

last year, a team with a third of the payroll, ROLLED up on the Yanks. lol, wildcard too, that was awesome!

#282573Post 70 of 87

I thin k even if they win he will go to Boston.. Someone special has to go there to break this damn curse.. Maybe the dodgers but nobody likes losing.. I don't ccare who you are.. My team the tigers need to spend more money in order to win.. I didn't know they were that low.. Even with the signing of pudge they are low..

#282599Post 71 of 87

now i know what i heard... pedro's contract is up at the end of the year! pdro/pujols.... same thing :)

but yeah, if they lose pedro, beltran won't mak a lick of difference. they will have no pitching.

#282603Post 72 of 87

Re: NLCS and a little ALCS

technically, Pedro doesn't make a lick of a difference either when it comes down to it, since he's the yankees' bitch.

#282630Post 73 of 87

Re: NLCS and a little ALCS

Just curious-- anyone here actually read Moneyball?

#282734Post 74 of 87

Re: NLCS and a little ALCS

Congratulations to the Red Sox for tying the series from a 3 game defecit. If they can beat the Yanks in game 7 it will be the best come back in baseball history.

#282750Post 75 of 87

Re: NLCS and a little ALCS

Hopefully my Astros can close out the Cards in STL today. Munro, who pitched well last time, will get the call and I think it's a wise decision. If we lose Game 6, then we got Clemens, Oswalt, Backe, and Lidge for you STL ass tomorrow.

What sucks is the start time at 3:17 pm cst. I was hoping that the Yankees would beat the Sox, so we'd get a later start. I guess I'll have to sneak away early from work to watch the game.

It already is.. they were saying last night no team has even come back to tie it 3-3 after being down 3-0. I think not having a day off between 5 and 6 helped the sox keep their momentum. tonight will be interesting to say the least.

What do you people REALLY think? yanks or sox tonight...

If the Red Sox win then they deserve it. If the Yanks win then this series will only make them stronger for the WS.

Re: NLCS and a little ALCS

sorry about the double post!!

#282853Post 79 of 87

Re: NLCS and a little ALCS

Ah i don't know about stronger LV.. They have really proved that there are a lot of holes in the yankee pitching.. I can guarantee that about 5 scouts from each St. Louis and Houston are there noting every pitch.. Where to pitch Shefield and A-Rod, etc.. You really notice the bad players in the league in the playoffs because of these reports.. Ask Alfonso Soriano about that last year facing Pedro and the entire post season of 2003.. Ask Johnny Damon right now.. He can't hit a low and out side fastball and they are exploiting it.. The holes in the yankees are there left handed pitching (out of the pen or starters).. guys like edmonds or beltran and berkman are really going to hurt the yankees.. If the sox win then the same thing applies.. There middle relief is horrible.. Manny needs to step it up in order for them to win tonight and in the future.. :Bingo:

I honestly don't know who to go for because it has been such a great playoff for baseball... But i think still GO ASTROS!! and SOX!!

#282855Post 80 of 87

holy double post batman! ;)

ps - mussina is the only yankee that smokes the sox.
