Just thought I'd mention this milestone in baseball tonight and to mention I am super jealous of a couple people I know who got to go to the game tonight. Love him or hate him you gotta admit this is a huge accomplishment in baseball. Thank goodness Bonds is on the SF Giants which is my team, hehe!

...and thank goodness someone actually PITCHED to Bonds. ;)

Re: Barry Bonds hits #700!!!

anybody know who caught the ball?

I heard some dude spent 50k and bought all the seats just so he could get the ball (he did sell some seats to people who signed something stating if they caught the ball they had to give it back to the dude...)

crazy!

Actually it was an opposite-field shot so I doubt that anyone bought those seats up since it's such a rare occurrence that Bonds doesn't pull the ball.

"The ball was captured by Steven Williams, a 25-year-old fan from nearby Pacifica, in the middle of several fans. The ball rolled right in front of Williams while he was flat on the ground in the scrum.

"I'm looking around, all of a sudden I see this white thing flying through the sky," said Williams, who plans to sell the ball. "It's not going to eBay. It's worth whatever somebody will pay for it."

It's irrevelant that i think Bonds is the biggest duchebag on the planet. It's irrevelant that most players around baseball think he's an arrogant cocksucker too, alienating himself from his teammates, using his own personal locker room. It's irrevelant that he constantly talks down about Babe Ruth. <This is the logic behind peope who say he's the best ever.

Talented, yes, probably the best talent ever.

Asshole? yes,. probably the biggest ever in baseball.

Deserving of the title of greatest player ever?

no, because the man has ZERO class.

Still tho, one of the best hitters ever in baseball, shame he's such a prick.

of course he will. he could possibly do it next year. i bet he hits at least 5 more tis year. we'll wait and see, but unless he gets injured and can't continue playing, he's gonna break it.

Re: Barry Bonds hits #700!!!

for whatever reason, this does not excite me as much as seeing Sammy Sosa and Mark Mcguire battle it out a few years ago

Re: Barry Bonds hits #700!!!

...not a big bonds fan, but i do admire his skills...this is definetly exceptional and exciting...when i was a kid and he was on the pirates, i never would have thought he would be the one do enter into such elite company...this is definetly interesting...

look out for ichiro passing sissler...im actually more excited about that though

we were watching the yankees/red sox when they cut to bonds. i walked out of my den just in time to see #700 get nailed out of the park. i could care less about the Giants or Bonds, but for baseball its neat. beer!

And these statements are based on your countless hours of interaction with him?

Don't believe everything a sportswriter writes. Bonds' teammates all actually thought Kent was the asshole in that exchange. And even after all of that, Bonds still wanted Kent to stay a Giant because he knew the guy could play.

Second, have you ever researched how much charity work he does? He also NEVER brings a camera along to do it. He just gets it done.

So don't make such blanket statements about a guy you have no clue about.

I bet you thought Kobe Bryant was one of the nicest guys in the world. Loyal family man, understated, etc.

All you know about Bonds is he's an incredible baseball player. Anything else you say, unless you've spent time with him, is complete bullshit.
