ill be watching as many games as possible, because with my shit television provider, i dont even get premiership matches here

#255762Post 3 of 69

I'm plumping for AC Milan this year, their squad is just too strong.Chelsea may have the players but they havent got the team spirit yet.

Go Milan!

Re: UEFA Champions League 2004/2005

Well...I?d like to think that Porto are gonna bring this one home again this year, but I don?t believe it.

In terms of players, they are even stronger this year : Seitaridis from the Greek European Cup side, Diego and Luis Fabiano, key players for the Brazil national team, Quaresma, who is, along Cristiano Ronaldo, the most talented Portuguese youngster...

But they lost heir biggest asset : Jos? Mourinho. So, logically, I think this one belongs to Chelsea this year.

Failing that, I?d like to see Real Madrid win it, or Arsenal (just because they?ve been trying for so long, and they play the best football in Europe at the moment).

#255802Post 5 of 69

Go Celtic

#255877Post 6 of 69

I personally dont see any of the English clubs doing all that well in Europe this year. Even Arsenal. Watch that Fulham match, they get away with a penalty being called back, and then a goal being taken away. That could have been a totally different out come. Just hope the officiating in Champs league is alot better.

Re: UEFA Champions League 2004/2005

Go Maccabi Tel Aviv :D Nice to see the Israelis improving in European play. Their second club in two years to make the group stage of the Champions league after a club making the semis of the UEFA cup and drawing France in France at 0-0 is just too sweet! But getting Bayern, Juve and Ajax for a group is just too damn tough.

As far as serious competition goes, I'll be pulling for Juve. Though imo Real or AC Milan will probably take the title.

#255933Post 8 of 69

Don't worry about Ajax ;-)

They managed to give away a 3 - 0 lead to ADO Den Haag (which normally will play degradation football at the end of the year....

Go TEL AVIV!

yeah, good shout ruby, juve are going to be really dangerous. nedved is still hurting from missing the final 2 seasons ago and they also have ibrahimovic. the italian clubs will rise again like a phoenix from the flames. but. ARSENAL are shit hot ;)

#255957Post 11 of 69

time shall tell, i reckon the arse'll do okay this year, dont think they'll win though.. i actually wouldnt mind seeing real win it

#255961Post 12 of 69

i'd like to see an Arsenal v Real final, with Paddy Vieira smashing in the winner from 30 yards in the last minute. dreams.

Last season, Arsenal were really unlucky not to go all the way. Chel$ki didn't deserve to get to the semi-finals. All that filthy money. grrrr.

Reyes is playing like a comic footballer, Roy of the Rovers. We bring him on and he changes the game. I wonder what impact he'll have on our Champions League fortunes. Very pensive about the defence without Sol. Anyway I'm off to Highbury now, I'll try and take some pics for you guys...and try to not look like a tourist.

Of course they are unbeatable when the refs call back goals scored on them and then turn around a penalty because they apparently forgot that cant happen against the mighty Gunners. lol

If Real Madrid doesnt win it then they need to buy some more players! Fucks sake, now they want Gerrard? The owner must think he is playing bloody FIFA 2005 on playstation. He makes Abramovich look like someone who actually cares about the game.

#255970Post 15 of 69

come on you spurs! :x

good luck to all teams, my team obviously isnt in the competition (duh) so i dont really care who wins... have fun at the game 'os..

Very difficult too know who will reach the finals. But I think Real Madrid, Juventus, Arsenal and Chelsea will be in the semi-finals.

and Paris SG .... :BangHead:

#256079Post 19 of 69

reading the updates on soccernet, doesnt seem like the arse are playing all that well... im sure a 1-0 win will satisfy them, but who knows what will happen when it gets to the crunch stages

#256083Post 20 of 69

^^^ 1-0 on an own goal by PSV. I've been reading the commentary on soccernet, didnt look as if they were as comfortable in the second half as they were in the 1st.

Chelsea sure handled their business, albeit against the perennial powerhouse that is PSG, lol.

#256088Post 21 of 69

game over and soccernet says "IT'S ALL OVER! Arsenal have scraped through their first European match of the season. A 1-0 scoreline was just enough for the Gunners, but they'll need to do much better than this in the future, you feel." :P

chelski did do the biz, kinda nice to see drogba get a goal, even tho im not a chelsea fan obviously

#256092Post 22 of 69

^^^ I'm not either, but I do think Drogba is a great footballer, and he deserves one ( well, I think he got two) after being robbed of a penalty this weekend, again bad officiating. Not only was he robbed of a PK, he got booked for a dive.

#256104Post 23 of 69

^ the booking was removed from his record i believe. obvious referee fuck up.. one of many this past weekend..

refereeing is getting worse and worse... they suspended that bloke who booked the blackburn (was it?) player twice without sending him off

#256143Post 26 of 69

phew. that was hard work. Arsenal looked really shaky in the closing minutes. but we got through it thanks to some silky touchline skills by Monsieur Henry, threading back for the PSV defender to obligingly knock it into his own net. Not a particularly exciting game, although we all enjoyed ripping the piss out of their keeper, because everytime he went for a kick he fell over in the opening minutes.

for all the spurs fans: ;)

#256146Post 27 of 69

would that be EUROPE by any chance there Hos.. totingham fans would not know what that is for sure.

#256148Post 28 of 69

#256298Post 32 of 69

LOL!!!

First round wasn't bad. Let's see what tonight brings.

Arsenal should get better to win this one -PSV is def. not one of the better teams in this round...

Remember folks, you read it here first!!

Give the man some time, and I?m sure Chelsea will be almost unbeatable. You could see by the way he talked to Drogba when he came off what kind of relation he builds with his players. When that happens, his teams will just be about ready to die for the guy. Even if he tells them "throw yourself against a post", they?ll do it.

#256392Post 34 of 69

Hmmm, the famous Van Gaal method??? ;-)

Like Arse Wenger said, the boys looked more cautious out there than anything... Arsenal have traditionally been very slow to get going in champions league games... Lets hope they can dominate and play their game like they do every week in the epl!!!

I bet on Chelsea

to all the Hos: :EvilFlic: :TNF: :Asshole:

as a spurs fans, I've been nothing but nice to you even though you're a fuckin arse fan...bitch! I don't know which is worse to never make it or to always fall flat in the champions league...thoughts?

but seriously, Nedved does it again! one goal, one yellow...now if he could manage not to miss half their games cause of cautions, Juve would actually have a chance at taking it all.

Go Maccabi TA! nil draw at the half...I'll take that against Bayern :)

#256571Post 38 of 69

I'd like to see Chelsea win it, lets hope they can be consistent!

#256586Post 39 of 69

Re: UEFA Champions League 2004/2005

Love to see an English side win it but I just get the feeling that they'll feck it up when they meet the likes of Milan, Juve or Real in the latter stages  My money goes on Milan, great side with a proven track record in Europe.

#256605Post 40 of 69

i dont care if chelsea, manchester united, or liverpool, or any european team win it

arse to lose in the final :Bingo:

j/k Hos
