not to condone drunk driving, but .093 blood alcohol? weak. what'd he have a beer with dinner?

Re: Cards chance to repeat is off to a

Yea no shit. I think it was reported that he sat at a green light and the light cycled 2 or 3 times before the cops had to wake him up by knocking on the window. An ex Buccaneer player(Tori Cox) was also found sleeping in his car with his foot on the brake and the car in drive on the Courtney Cambell bridge here in Tampa around 2 years ago. Must be something about sleeping behind the wheel here in Florida. This state isn't THAT boring.

it does suck for he and his team, but he broke the law. punish him. i am happy to see he isn't getting any special treatment. a law is a law.

Re: Cards chance to repeat is off to a

Tony LaRussa's blood alcohol level .093...gotta be pretty close to A-Rod's playoff batting average.

Re: Cards chance to repeat is off to a

hey, you know where i stand with arod.

enjoy him hitting behind puljos next year, we'll take a role player back. cashman is back in charge finally, and the team is gettng back to where it was. role players everywhere, no pampered douches.

?

Rolen hits behind Pujols.

#830149Post 12 of 39

Re: Cards chance to repeat is off to a

this year. but rolen is old, bad back, arod will be shopped everywhere. he will be a nice target for the cards. another huge all around bat, and better than rolen in every aspect, he just needs to get out of the NY spotlight.

Re: Cards chance to repeat is off to a

ARod has no shot, zero, nada, zilch, none, at being in the Cards lineup. 1. we don't have that kind of cash. 2. we don't make it a policy of signing primadonnas like that. (save your pujols comment, i'm not hearing it.) 3. we have no place for him to field, and since this is the REAL baseball league, ie- no DH, ARod has no place here.

#830164Post 14 of 39

Re: Cards chance to repeat is off to a

im not fighting you about this. he will be outta here hopefully, and good riddance. he isnt evil or bad, just had foot in mouth disease in front of NY media. whatever NL central team gets him, will enjoy him. and the yanks will pay a bit of the contract as well. i hate having him around here, even when he is trying to be nice and honest, he still manages to talk out of his cornhole.

#830184Post 15 of 39

Re: Cards chance to repeat is off to a

Cubs have a pretty good shot at him since Lou is pretty much like a father to him. their line up is slowly but surely looking better. I'd like the looks of 1. J. Jones 2. A. Soriano 3. D. Lee 4. A Ramirez and 5. A-Rod

Mets M.O. every year - load up the roster - overpay all of them - smoke everyone all season - get in the playoffs - choke on the big one.

Repeat.

Oh, but THIS is the year. ;)

Re: Cards chance to repeat is off to a

prior in AAA affiliate. wow

fuck the mets, they have become the 2001 -2006 yanks. (high payroll, old players. trying to be the yanks.)

the cards should be pretty damn good this year. thier pitching coach is shitting gold as of late.

dont ever call pinella , lou. call him sweet lou or mr. pinella. he has earned that.

Dice-k is indeed the real deal.

yanks in second place. jenks, print this page, hang it up somewhere.,i said it, i dont think my guys will take the division.

but i will also say that the phillies and/or braves will finish ahead of the NY metropolitans.

Re: Cards chance to repeat is off to a

I know the whole Prior-Wood story and if they can come back and just pitch half as good as what they have shown they can do I will be happy. Zamb is one of the best in the game right now. I'm not going to get my hopes up but if they can just catch a couple of breaks like not loosing D Lee for pretty much the whole season because of an injury they have just as good of a chance as anyone imo. It's going to take time for them to come together as a team with all the changes in managers and players so I do look for a slow start but hopefully they can keep things close and interesting. I'm really excited to see what the offense can do with Ramirez, Lee and Soriano and also Floyd can still swing the bat pretty good. I guess Sunday night it all starts. I don't think I have been so excited about the start of baseball season in a long time!

Just a little fyi. Wrigley Field, which was built in 1914, will be playing host to Major League Baseball for the 94th season in 2007-and to the Cubs for the 92nd year.

And he'll be pitching elsewhere if the cubs don't pay him. Seriously Cubs, how do you not pay that guy, and go out and sign all those other players?

Re: Cards chance to repeat is off to a

taken from ESPN.com

Mar. 30 : Contract-extension talks between the Cubs and Zambrano are heating up just in time to make the ace pitcher sound somewhat optimistic that a deal could get done by the Monday deadline he has imposed. Zambrano said Thursday that his agent told him the team has made an offer but that it apparently isn't close to what he's willing to accept, the Chicago Sun Times reports.

Mar. 28 : General manager Jim Hendry spoke briefly with the agent for Zambrano on Tuesday and discussed plans to talk this week about working out a multiyear contract extension before Zambrano's Opening Day deadline, according to a source close to the talks. The sides are thought to be working within the framework of a five-year deal (including his $12.4 million contract this year) between $75 million and $85 million, the Chicago Sun Times reports.

   He is making 12.4 million this year!

I agree with you Jenks. I also think that he wanted the team to show him that they were willing to spend the money on players that would help him win. Now that they have done that they need to sign him right now! Give him whatever he wants NOW so there is nothing to distract not only him but his teammates when the season starts. I would be completely blown away if they don't get this deal done before Monday. Like you said, It makes no since at all to spend all that money in the off-season if they don't get their ace pitcher signed and happy to start the season. I just don't see them not getting this done.

There was a Met fan at the game last night that could not have been a bigger prick. Hooting, hollering, mocking the entire section, the whole nine. That's fair game, IMO, but as I was walking behind him on the way to the restroom, he and an older Cards fan, prolly 60-65, bumped into one another, and they had the following exchange:

Cards fan: Excuse me. Mets fan: You better fucking say excuse me, you piece of shit. Cards fan:  [sees Mets fan]

Really? Belittling a senior over a casual bump? Way to represent your fan base, buddy. Cheering for your team and even mocking the other team's fans is one thing, but that was just uncalled for.

When I came out of the bathroom, he was in the concourse complaining to a security guard who wouldn't let him back into the stadium and was preparing to escort him out. I didn't pick it all up, but the gist of it was that letting him back into the stands at that point would be tantamount to inciting a riot.

Re: Cards chance to repeat is off to a

What a DICK!!!!

My father went to the NFC Championship in Philly the year the Bucs played there to go to the Superbowl and when the game was over and the Bucs had won, my father who is about 6-4 250, and the group of friends he was with had to be police escorted out of the stadium because the fans were such assholes. My dad said they were throwing batteries and all kinds of stuff at any Bucs fan.Thats crazy! And to think that these fans in Philly and NY are proud of this reputation. Real Classy:roll:

NY ppl arent that bad, you had a douchebag. we are gruff, but not assholes. i hope that guy picked a fight with the wrong cat after that.

but mets fans are generally a bit rougher than yanks fans. we are intense, but not nearly violent. the mets fans.... well imaghine be second fiddle all your life, you're gonna be touchy. fuck him, you should knocked him out.

I live maybe 5 minutes from Legends Field where the Yanks train at and most of the NYers that come down for the spring are acually pretty nice people. I've been to countless Yankee spring training games(we have had season tickets about 4 rows up since the field opened) and I don't think I have even seen anyone get escorted out of a game. Even at a Devils Rays game when they play the Yanks there is always more NY fans than Tampa and I have yet to see a problem there. I mean you get the little shit talk between a couple of fans but it's always just out of fun. Most of the time it's because the billion dollar payroll of the Yanks usually lose to the D-Rays for some reason. I wish we could get a Major League team here instead of this minor league baseball.....

Yep, and apart from the utter lack of offense, it was brutally cold and windy out there last night. I thought I had dressed appropriately, but I actually had to buy another pullover after the 3rd inning, and I switched from beer to hot chocolate after the 5th. On the whole, it wasn't even any fun to be at the park last night, which is really a shame. The irony, of course, is that it was warm enough to have the top down on my Jeep earlier in the day. Welcome to Missouri.

If there's any comfort in the losses at all, it's that we're losing to a very good team that I fully expect to be in the thick of it at the end of the year.

Jenks, you can consider yourself fortunate that someone else snapped up that ticket for last night's game before you called me...

Re: Cards chance to repeat is off to a

lol. i have seen obnoxious fans at shea, yankee stadium, tropicana field, dodger stadium, and i dont think i had a problem at petco park, lol

anyways what im tryin to get at is every team has their asshole fans. its only when a team is having a good amount of success that the bad ones come out in droves. it comes with the territory i guess. kinda like the increase of haters and shit talkers against the mets coughcough

and im glad no one had fun at the park during the 3 game thrashing we gave you. its the least we can do for last years game 7. 20-2 :)

i live about 10 minutes from legends field myself, lol, small world
