after growing up watching baseball and football on NBC and CBS and ABC with the likes of dick enberg and pat summeral, guys like costas, and the old guard...... i watch fox and ESPN where simply put, they are shit. they have the most annoying announcers who make the game more about them and their catch phrases and frankly the feild directors suck too. constantly, i see a guy like kenny rogers get pulled in the 7th with 2 outs and they cut out to commercial before you get to see the crowd reaction.. THEY EVEN CUT OUT FOR CLEMENS 3000TH STRIKOUT FFS.......

last night was a prime example.... we have to hear from joe theisman, the modern day equivelent of al bundy, talk about how he played..... his is like the annoying dorky kid who never got thint when people gave him a hard time... kornheiser is doing a good job of not letting his quirks take over and always has that great speech before the game.... but comon. where is the class? when you have berman doing his stupid sportscenter calls during a game its disgusting.... the only guy out there who is on FOX or ESPN that is a great booth guy is gary thorne....

god im so sick of ""SMACKED UP"" calls and mike irving.......

all you have to say about fox is joe buck and tim mccarver.... if you like them, you should be shot in the face

/end rant /wishing for the return of dick enberg style sportscasters and not these douches..

Tim Mccarver and Joe Buck get on my nerves! Those two are like a bad dream that you never wake up from when listening to them!

Re: will fox and ESPN ever cover sports well?

I'll grant you that Theisman is a complete and utter moron who has no business behind a mike, but railing on Joe Buck, I don't get it. I actually look forward to hearing Buck with the call.

When your barometer for greatness, however, is Pat Fucking Summerall, I guess I can understand how you might have your priorites a bit skewed.

jimbo, you are from st louis, so let me tell you that everyone outside of that city HATES joe buck. he is annoying, dorky, not even close to funny. tries his dumb midwestern wit way too often, and makes the game about him.. he is terrible for everyone not named a missouri citizen.. he tops berman, and john sterling as the worst possible choices for play by play people.

and pat summeral was great, an icon who appreciated the game, he just had the 900 pound gorilla with him too often. watch his telecasts for golf when he does them. he does call a few sports from time to time but has essentially remained retired and does it for fun. he never tried to put himself there, just his voice over the action. he was classy, never really pro athlete, and had a penchant for making the dramitic events memorable.

Re: will fox and ESPN ever cover sports well?

last night, ESPN had 13 ppl covering ONE GAME in week 5................................

not to mention a shot to TO and parcells every minute, and that stupid pregame thing about tiki's house.....

bring back jack buck.

...and I pretty much hate everyone outside of st.louis. just because you and your jabroni's in ny don't like joe, doesn't mean everyone hates him sean, or did you poll the entire country?

i'm surprised you don't love espn sean, as much NY cock as that network sucks on a daily basis, it should be right up your alley.

what i don't like about joe buck is, he's not jack buck. jack was a homer, joe isn't. we will forever be comparing joe to jack, which really isn't fair, but it's what it is. joe is a very talented broadcaster imo- he's no jack tho.

Re: will fox and ESPN ever cover sports well?

joe sucks balls period. jack was a true legend though.

and i hate homers. i have to deal with john sterling and micheal kay, two guys who should be forced to call red sox games for the rest of theri lives.

i want to punch joe buck right in his adam's apple and watch him choke for air as he dies a slow death at my feet.

Re: will fox and ESPN ever cover sports well?

AND jenks, the word jabroni refers to new jersey non italians, not new york italians.

Re: will fox and ESPN ever cover sports well?

are you just spewing nonsense from your keyboard without any thought...

you said, you love jack buck...then you said you hate homers...jack was a homer.

i thought you were a lawyer?

Re: will fox and ESPN ever cover sports well?

Ah, Jack Buck -- we can all agree that he was one of the good ones.

Every time the Cards play the Cubbies at Busch, they play this clip from when Jack sang "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" during the 7th Inning Stretch at Wrigley:

Always brings a smile to my face...

Re: will fox and ESPN ever cover sports well?

i will ALWAYS remember his poem after 9/11

god, you people out there dont realize how much that comforted us up here where it happened. they played it at shea stadium before the game and for the first time, NY fans gave a rousing ovation to someone who wasnt even at the park.
