Just checked a bunch of sports sites and the AP, you're not the top story. Sorry to wake you up from your dream world.

Re: weaver

at least we have 4 titles in the last 10 years. you however, have been iced at every oppurtunity. we cant win it every year, anyone knows that, but you cant win it any year, again, everyone knows that. someone go call ozzie, you need evrything you can get yer hands on.

Re: weaver

you better go on vacation if the cards lose.

and all this hostility, im for the mets losing, i want the damn cards in it. rolen rocks, i love edmunds's sheer lack of consideration for his body, the 35 yr old mexican between them is nothing to ignore either. carpenter is someone i follow too. add in eckstein..........

What happend to pulling for Willy? Make up your mind

#725086Post 16 of 34

Re: weaver

Even if we lose, we win, because we made it one series farther than the Yanks. :p

ok, done now. I'm just giving you shit because it's not every year the Yanks spend so much money and lose so early, oh wait, it is every year! lol. :p

ok, seriously, i'm done....just like the Yanks.

ok, really...finished now...which coincidently...so are the...oh nevermind.

Re: weaver

Now that that post is over, just like the...fuck, i can't help myself!!!!

re: The Cards - they have pretty much everything stacked against them, which imo, is the only thing they have going for them. Underdogs, for once. This team is strange. Depending on which one shows up, we're either going to get smoked 4 and out, or we're one of the best teams in the league. We've certainly showed both sides this year, it's seriously a crap shoot hinged on this first game imo. The momentum builder. Sadly, we're sending Weaver out there for game 1. Depends on which Weaver shows up. lol. I care, but not as much as years past, because i already wrote the Cards off before the season ended. Now that we're still in it, every game we play is just a bonus to me. Keeps me sane that way.

And just for shits and grins, let's say we make it to the world series...we probably face the Tigers, and we all know how our last meeting went with them. :(

Living for today. Going to drink some beer and enjoy 1 game tonight.

Re: weaver

i like willy, but i have more interest in the cards. mainly, for rolen and jim, and the fact that mets fans seem to have forgotten about thier own team and only worry about what we are doing. they havent had a front or back page here since they clinched. and suddenly they think they are the yanks with 11 straight playoff apprearances, and 4 titles. they think its 1987 again.

#725103Post 19 of 34

Re: weaver

God no, we do not think we the Yanks, we are the anti-Yanks. Take that for all the good and bad it implies.

What front/back page should the Mets have on the 4 day break? "Mets Wait Patiently" (see Sports for story on how David Wright spent his off day)

Re: weaver

gorgeous.

#726055Post 25 of 34

Re: weaver

Damn Glavine looked pretty solid imo. Actually he looked great for someone who is 40 years old and in his 19th season. Doesn't seem like 11 years since he won won MVP of the series

#726067Post 26 of 34

Re: weaver

only caught from the 5th inning on, but glavine owned the couple i saw him toss. class act all the way, that guy. cards definitely had an off night. bad base running buy poo hole plus he lined out twice. :( mets looked good from the highlights i saw, but im still pulling for the cards!

#726082Post 27 of 34

Re: weaver

That's one. Great job by Glavin, great defense behind all the Met pitchers, great rip by Beltran. Way to start it off boys!!

#726195Post 28 of 34

Re: weaver

weaver pitched really well. he just made one bad mistake to the wrong guy. that wasn't just a rip, that brought back memories of pujols crushing lidge. beltran WHALLOPED the ball. both of these teams are injury-plagued to all hell, though. i'm wondering what either team will do, whoever makes it to the next round.

#726218Post 29 of 34

Re: weaver

 1. Glav's proformance got me thinking last night- just how fking amazing was that Braves pitching staff in the 90s? Can't believe they didn't win more championships.

 2. Weaver didn't lose that game for us...hellooo? run support? haey guuuyz?

Good game, not the outcome i wanted, but this series is far from yankeed.

#726222Post 30 of 34

Re: weaver
2. Weaver didn't lose that game for us...hellooo? run support? haey guuuyz?
Weaver pitched a whale of a game, IMO (at least by Weaver standards), but it just goes to show how crucial every pitch is at this level. Leave one pitch hanging out over the plate, and that could be the difference maker.

Beltran crushed that ball, tho. Made me cringe.

Still feel OK about the series, though. If you had told me before the game that we'd have Weaver going up against Glavine and wouldn't get demoralized, I would have been pretty happy. Wasn't really counting on a win in this game...

#726227Post 31 of 34

Re: weaver

yeah, you've gotten thru their #1 pitcher and now it should be batting practice for the cards. what's up with rolen though? he is really struggling at the plate. probably his shoulder giving him problems. 5 fucking screws in there and he still gives it 100%. just wish he'd start hitting.

#726315Post 32 of 34

Re: weaver

What's up with Pujols though? He said is a post game interview that Glavine didn't pitch good at all and that the Cards crushed the ball on him all night. I agree they did hit some line shots but they were all right at somebody. Just give the man some credit. He pitched a DAMN GOOD game and I don't care if the Cards crushed every pitch he threw. They still didn't score any runs no matter how hard the ball was hit. I don't care who wins this series and I would like to see it go 6-7 games just to see great baseball. I just never thought of Pujos as someone to not give credit when it was do but he sure didn't show that last night imo.

#726320Post 33 of 34

Re: weaver

word. two monster pitching performances, one kinda expected, one not. weaver did a brilliannt job. ill take a guy who lets up one 2 run homer every single day.

but glavin, well, from the second inning on, you could tell he was grooving. but when ya think about it, what else should we have expected. guyhas been doing it at a hall of fame lvl for a long time.

#726329Post 34 of 34

Re: weaver

the umpire had a ridiculously poor strike zone. i can't believe he is behind the plate because i saw at least a dozen pitches that were not strikes, called strikes. he helped both pitchers out.
