Re: El Duque Out

Dude if L.A chokes, it'l be an absolute embarrassement. We should win at least one game in New York and winning the next two at home.

Re: El Duque Out

Well; definitely learned how to base run this evening that's for sure.

A good game and Im glad we didnt go quietly. At least I got to see that we could battle it out with your closer, falling just short of a tie. Real nailbighter in the 9th.

Re: El Duque Out

I think it is. Closer's should be a 1,2,3 dominant closing pitcher, we were able to make him work, he gave up 2 doubles and could have blown a save. He didnt, Mets pulled off a win....but was exciting nonetheless.

Re: El Duque Out

In that case you haven't seen much of Wagner with the Mets, this is his typical outing. And for that matter a Mets tradition of taking years off their fan's lives (John Franco, Armando Benitez)

Re: El Duque Out

kobe, at 345 yesterday i was talking to my boy phil, i DIE hard, life long mets fan. he was glass half empty yesterday though. oh yeah, FYI, i dont talk shit to him cuz i he respects the game like i do, i.e. he can watch an arizona, tampa bay game like me and enjoy it. but back to business. he was all depressed about hernandez and i told him ''dude, maine is your best pitcher on the staff, (something i have been saying since his second start and i noticed how much he reminds me of rivera), and he will go 6 and give up 3". well if willy didnt pull him, he was gonna make me look me bad, but dude, that kid is a stud. if they dont have him in the rotation next year, the ACLU should investigate minaya's racial hiring practices if sanchez is in there instead.

Re: El Duque Out

^^ Agreed. Amazing fact: Mets don't have a single starting pitcher signed and ready to go for opening day.

Anyway, glad to hear you talk about the Mets in a normal not-baiting way. I know we go back and forth alot (which is fun) but I know you've watched them a lot this year. Which is why I'm not as worried as most Yankee fans want me to be, or as worried as pessimestic Mets fans are right now. TAnyone who has watched the Mets this year knows they find ways to win and are more than just a good rotation or a solid lineup, and that is why I believe in them.

Dodgers are a great ballclub and will make this a tough fight, no doubt, but I still like my team. I didn't and still don't think losing Pedro is a big deal (maybe even a postive) but El Duque hurt a little. I'm actually holding out hope that if the Mets go all the way, we may get a little surprise in the form of a mid relief appearance by OH.

Just to clear, are we talking about the 'greatest lineup in the history of the game' or the bunch of chumps that got 2 hits in 5 innings today?
