WOW. i knew he wasnt in top form but now an MRI reveals another calf injury in the other leg.

BYE BYE world series. at least the mets fans wont have to see thier team go down twice in 5 years to the cross town boys in pinstripes. the real NY will be the only NY inthe series.

Re: pedro martinez DONE

:( for Pedro

Mets have won 94 games going into the final weekend with Pedro's 9-8 record. Would I prefer to have him ptiching in the post season at 100%? Of course. Does this mean the Mets are finished? YOU WISH

Re: pedro martinez DONE

hi, i know its been awhile for ya, but this thing called the postseason DEMANDS good pitching. your bullpen isnt going to do shit when its 6-2 in the third. just imagine steve trachsel trying to get through any american league lineup.. funny funny stuff. kinda like johnny carson. one fairly good pitcher isnt gonna help ya at all.

Re: pedro martinez DONE

i feel bad for them, but those are the breaks. they've been playing decent without him all year so they may do ok in the post unless they have to play the 'stros.

Tachsel won 2 out of his 3 interleague starts this year, including a 7 inning 2 run appearance in Yankee Stadium.

with a rookie in left feild, bernie in right and miguel cairo at second. and our staff was destroyed early on. now, he will have to face hideki, sheff, and abreau and cano instead. ouch.

Re: pedro martinez DONE

Post season baseball (sports for that matter) is its own entity. You can't really extrapolate regular season results and predict a winner so easiily; If you could it would be pointless, rather than what it is: the best theater you ever get to see.

Playoffs are as much a test of heart and determination as they are stats and numbers. Teams get hot an emotions run high. Shit, the Astros could go from a .500 team to world series champs this year, we will have to watch the games and find out.

That said (am I rationalizing enough yet) the thing I have liked best about this Met team since the very first week of the season is not that they win games, but HOW they win games. For this reason, I like them in the post season. I don't care what they've done in these last 10 games, I don't care who's hurt, I don't care who they are facing.

Bring them all on. If we loose I promise you we will do it fighting. And if we win, I will have told you so.
