I am not here to divide the merc. users or anything but something has to be said. Listen americans every time you guys here from Bob Costas don't beleve a word he says. I'm not taking anything away from the USA they are beating the shit out of everybody in the olympics and no i'm not jealous but you guys aren't the favorite in everything. For instance i was watching the women's 100m sprint on the track two days ago and Bob was saying how american woman were going to win and how they have dominated for years (which they have). Then i turned on the Canadian channel (who weren't biased because we had no runners in the final) who said that the White chick was the heavy favorite. Then at the end of the race to the americans it was a huge upset meanwhile in canada and rest of the world it happened how it should have  . I just wish you guys would see how it really should be televised instead of thinking that you guys are the fav. in every event.

By the way don't think i'm anti-american because i'm half american :Bingo: :D

Re:: NBC Coverage Of the Olympics

the coverage sux ass. the comentators don't know squat and costas can go rot.

#243491Post 4 of 37

i read in the paper yesterday the ratings for nbc olympics are higher than any other oddly enough lol

#243492Post 5 of 37

Cause you guys love to hear your own propaganda. Ever here the term monopoly..:D

#243502Post 6 of 37

I watched the men's high jump and the ending turned out well...

The Swedish guy got the gold! I thought it was cool... I'm an American, but imo, I want the best athlete to win in whatever event. It's not about who's representing whichever country...

now when it comes to soccer, that's a different story

#243509Post 7 of 37

why don't you just go to athens if you love the damned olympics so much maybe you could help fill some of those empty seats.

don't you have cbc?

#243527Post 8 of 37

NBC = comercials (50%)+ Bob Costas (25%) + the actual freakin sports (25%)

Does anybody else agree?

#243552Post 9 of 37

bob costas is about as usefull as a frozen piece of dog poop. i seriously think he is the most lonely man in america. he knows more sports statistics then any machine could ever hold. he looks like a 40 year old virgin too.

#243557Post 10 of 37

bob costas is a pretty good host imo. he's extremely bright and was more than happy to go toe to toe againt vince mcmahon even when he physically threatend him.

Re:: NBC Coverage Of the Olympics

I have not watched any of it and I don't plan on it anytime soon either.

#243565Post 12 of 37

what I love is in many events, especially tonight on the bars, where the color commentator typically is some ex-event (or sport) athlete, etc.

They give their critiques on the replays..."should be a .1 deduction here, nice job there, little off here..." and the like, then you see the judges give the scores out...

Commentator #1: "And look at that, a xxxxxx!" Commentator #2: "Oh I don't believe that! I totally disagree. That shouldn't be that high! Unbelievable!"

bunch of wankers half the time I swear :lol::lol:

#243585Post 13 of 37

I also hate, how they over analize the replays be giving details by detail info on how the person did the moves, I was watching the diving competitions and I hated how the comentators just continue to analize the jumps by showing the replays, Not only that, Showing a super imposed image of the dive by showing each frame, Geez, I seen the replay once, I dont want to see it 2, 3 or 4 times already! :x

Re:: NBC Coverage Of the Olympics

Trust me, many Americans here hate the type of coverage the pritime NBC has to offer. But I have been able to see many other sports which the US is lacking in. I agree that the programming selection is terrible though

#243593Post 15 of 37

the problem is, The other events are being covered on other stations, Besides NBC, Telemundo is also covering the events since they are owned by NBC, However, CNBC, MSNBC, And Bravo have been covering the other events as well, But unless you don't have cable or direct TV, Those unlucky souls wont be able to watch the other events and can only watch on there local NBC station.

#243646Post 16 of 37

Is women's beach volleyball over yet? Every time I turned on Olympic coverage it was either that or Michael Phelps ugly mug.

#243652Post 17 of 37

I guess, it sucks that the commentators are very biased. I personally don't like this at all, but i guess they have to be baised to prove to the audience that the event is worth watching. But overall, i wish i could watch every event with some other countries commentator.

yeah, i mean what the fuck do you expect???? NBC is an american channel where the majority of users are american. OF COURSE IT WILL BE BIASED! i'm sure if you travel to China, their coverage does the same thing... and in russia and in australia. if you don't like the coverage, change the channel. its only on 5 different channels.

#246385Post 26 of 37

#246437Post 29 of 37

Re:: NBC Coverage Of the Olympics

American TV does put a unqiue spin on the news and other matters it reports. A good example is BBC was the only channel to run the story that Bush lose Florida, and i bet you all didn?t know Dope has been decrimialsed in the UK?

From the US TV i have watched i?ve never laugh so much as i did watching Fox "News". Nearly wet myself.

#246487Post 36 of 37

hahahahaha... nice pic, amigo.

runningman, i was simply saying that china's coverage of the olympics is going to be biased too towards their nation. i'm not sure how i'm bashing my own country with that statement. if broadcast stations didn't support their country, how do you think their ratings would fair? probably not so hot. thats probably why you were watching american broadcasting because canadian broadcasting doesn't support their country at the games ;)

#246575Post 37 of 37

hey! the canadians do support our country, our coverage is most like other countries.. watchin the american news compaired to the canadian news is the same.. we support our athletes 100% same like the americans, china or whatever.. now BOYS stop bitchin over stupid shit!!!
