ooohhh... well, it'll be another long night on the exclusive boat-hotel

"We beat the States. So what? We came here not to beat the States or any other team, we just came here to fight for the medal."

Great attitude.

#242838Post 3 of 39

big deal...this "team" put together by the US is a basic joke...there are no outside shooters, the defense is atrocious, and based upon this game, no one can shoot free throws either. Furthermore, this "team" was just formed over a month ago...you can't throw the "best" (based on what was left) players out there and expect them to destroy opponents like 1992. The game has become worldwide and ironically is slowing leaving the ones who invented it in the dust, because they apparently have decided not to change too much with the times.

It'll be no shock if they barely win a medal...but the media will make it one.

Jordan never lost. Or bird or magic. The quality of players are dropping. Need more shooters and less hood rats..:D

embarrasing

but to see folks from other countries bash them is just as embarrasing

they're human, they lose, grow up.

last i saw, we were leading the medal count by quite a few.

#242896Post 9 of 39

and im laughing about this too, wasnt meant to start a "well this country sucks yadda yadda" or trying to make up excuses, we lost and i admit that and except it,

but there are tons of other countriies out there with great talent also who just dont play in the NBA :)

#242897Post 10 of 39

The U.S. needs more white guys on the team
they're human, they lose, grow up.
they lose... the previous us basketball teams DIDN'T.

You could never imagine seing Jordan, Bird or even Barkley losing a game in the olympics.

This team is way below the first one.

The one true dream team... Jordan, Pippen, Bird, Johnson, etc, etc...

no wannabe gangbanger piece of shit will ever replace them!!!!

The claim that the quality of players is dropping is Nonsense. This is hardly an experience team or the best team that we could put together. This team has an average of 23 yrs (age wise) and was put together badly. The original dream team averaged about 28 yrs...season vets and the BEST at every position that the NBA had to offer. Non of the other dream teams after that has been built this way. Instead they were made up of some great players and some good players.

With the exception of three or 4 players these guys are mostly NBA pups (some would be in college right now). Add to the fact that they have had about 10 days of actual practice together these results are hardly surprising. If this was the team from last summer that destroyed everyone at the Tournament of the Americas by 30 points we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Personally I think these guys are good guys, remember they are the one's who jumped at the chance to represent their country.

I know people like to hype up everything when the USA loses but if they actually wanted to send the best (like say a starting 5 of Shaq, Duncan, Garnett, Macgrady and Kobe) They would destroy every country by 40 ++ . Even Dirk Diggler acknowledged this.

That being said congratulations to Lithuania. Though one good thing is that in the future we can expect to see the best NBA stars on the team again.

#243099Post 18 of 39

Next year, and from now on, the USA needs to submit the team that wins the NBA championship to the olympics.

Hands down, Detroit, as a team, would destroy any international team on the planet...as would any other yearly NBA champ. Putting a bunch of guys together and expecting them to domniate and know each other's individual skills is unrealistic (unless those players are Bird, Jordan, Johnson, etc.)< those type of players don't exist in this new era of the NBA.

That said...Bring on college basketball. Fast.

#243108Post 19 of 39

I agree they should have sent the pistons. By the look of it the pistons will be going in 2008 because they are going to win every title til then. Every guy on there roster is signes til then almost. Joe Dumars should get GM of the decade because three years ago they were a joke and now they look like they won't be beat for at least two more years.:D

The experience has little to do with the game.

Look at US team before 1992, before dream team or nba. They used to take the best college players, and they played with their hearts. You can remember David Robinson, Alonzo Mourning, great players, young and amateur, they had initiative, they wanted to play, they weren't STARS like this socalled Dream Team, and they managed to win anyway.

thats the point... you SHOULD win... the fact is you take some of the players from the best professional league in the world, why should you lose?

#243305Post 25 of 39

^because putting a bunch of individuals together doesn't make a TEAM.

Wrong sport bucko.

6"7 blackmen from the USA don't play soccer.

#243326Post 31 of 39

i really do not care about the US basketball team, so what these players make the most money compare to other teams ... that means jack as we see. I am not dissapointed at all, actually i glad to see other teams playing well enough. Playing basketball in your own country doesn't make one the best players to this even in the whole world.
^because putting a bunch of individuals together doesn't make a TEAM.
and you dont send a TEAM cause your the "USA" and you think that it doesnt matter who you send to the Olympics cause you will win gold no matter what. fact is that everyone is playing the game properly and with a strategy and the USA is too cocky / stupid to do the same. looks good on them if they lose, but chances are they wont and it will just feed their ego more. cheers :Cheerz:
