listen, every award in the NL is already taken care of. howard is MVP, girardi is the manager of the year, Cy young, yet again will go to an undeserving pitcher due to the lack of quality, etc etc

so the two awards up for grabs are the AL MVP, which will likely go to Jermaine dye because he hits homers and jeter doesnt.

but the AL batting crown is, unexpectedly, up for grabs right now with 2 new contenders jumping in this week.

mauer has a 1 point lead of jeter as i type this, but robbie canoe looks like he will hit the 500+ at bats to qualify and he is at 342, and tejada is right behind him in the high 330's last time i looked.

anyone been following this and what ya thinking.

(ps-- giving full credit to jenks and toasty..... puljos is a fucking monster and would have 80 homers and the MVP title in hand if he didnt miss the games. everyone tlaking beltran is retarded. its albert or howard. i give howard as he is the only guy there and is doing this unprotected in the lineup and carrying them to the playoffs as long as florida doesnt make the jump)

Re: AL batting title.

if you would have asked about the AL batting title two months ago i would have said Mauer is a lock. but now i am leaning towards jeter grabbing the title. i had no idea that Canoe was going to get the at bats he needs to qualify...

should be an interesting race to the wire
